Carmilla nodded in awe as she moved the one armor back and then retrieved the next, placing it in front of Remi to be scanned. "Wow! Tat's really neat! We don't see much action as part of the defense fleet, the SMX haven't gotten to us yet, thankfully."

Remi wanted to say something but she simply held her tongue. "Well, hopefully they do not get that far." She said as she began the scanning on the next armor. "They've tried to pull me out of retirement but I keep refusing, I'm tired of the fighting." She sighed, and went over the equipment and scanning meticulously.

Carmilla was grateful that her face was concealed by the mask of her helmet, she had just recognized just how horribly naive she sounded just then. She wanted to be friends with Remi but she kept feeling like she was coming as an ignorant young child to the much more battle seasoned veteran.

"How many more do you need to check? No one actually told us the real nature of this just to keep it quiet so while I wanna know, I know better than to really ask. Better to know a lot of nothing than a little of something, I guess," she shrugged in her power armor.

Chiai had remained silent, remotely being feed information to a short range wireless device she was wearing on her ear.

"Simple, this is an errand for old Yui herself. My captain asked me to do this, I inturn asked him if we could go to the Yugumo cluster so I can see my daughter and grandchildren." Remi replied as she frowned at a discrepancy in the scan and fixed it. "One thing I find odd...she seems to be able to befriend samurai easily. One of them used to be her wing leader aboard the YSS Sakura, and became her friend, and then contributor. Another is a former member of SAINT, a field agent now samurai, and she even has Saito, former bodyguard to Yui, and the princess Michiko as a bodyguard."

The doctor snorted slightly. "She says he is...'Cuddly as a teddy bear' to her. Although when she was summoned to the Empress' Palace on Yamatai she told me she saw Tsuya, and was scared to death of the woman, and yet she had a polite, and un-insulting argument with the Emperor himself." She shook her head now.

"She's a good girl. So tell me Carmilla, do you ever plan on having a Youngling if I may ask?" Remi asked in a rather kindly voice. "Also, only one more I believe...I am nearly done with this one, I just need to map the fusion generators."

"Someday, when this war is all done and I'm retired... I'd like to be able to settle down someplace away from everything... the cities, the lights.. the politics and just live normally like our ancestors did before our empire started," Carmilla replied wistfully. "I haven't been in the thick of it as you or Yuriko have but I'm not blind to see that this war is fruitless and just takes away all sense of anything sane."

That is all war ever is." Remi replied wearing a pensive expression as she finished up. With a soft sigh the doctor looked over to Carmilla. "Surprisingly these machines share a lot of the same technologies. One could say they are the same machine almost, except the Nepleslians just slapped on extra armor, or weapon." She shrugged. "I think we are done. The other I've already constructed scans of while I was scanning the other two. Hince my going so slowly since I tried to kill two birds with one stone."

"That's different. I guess it is more efficient to just develop the technologies to be modular than to completely rework the system from the core up. But then, we have only a handle of power armor variants," Carmilla offered as she replaced the power armor she was holding back into a secured spot in the bay. "I hope that the next time we run into one another, we'll get a chance to have a more relaxing chance for dinner or just a visit."

When Remi had finished the last of her scans she dismantled the scanner and disconnected it from her laptop. Carmilla replaced the power armors back into their secured positions against the bulkhead. The nekos said their goodbyes as Remi handed them the hard disk with the encrypted information with them onto the YSS Yui.

Once the way was cleared, the to ships separated and the Yui slipped back off towards Yamatai with its cloaking devices still on. The Soujourner returned to its base so that the good doctor could take her shuttle back to the Yggdrasill.
