Had an idea this morning that there should be a yellow Star Army award for culinary excellence that's awarded to Star Army cooks.

My only question is what should the criteria be?

It sounds MOS exclusive, perhaps a commendation rather than a full medal/ribbon? Would the morale award cover this perhaps?

An achievement/commendation medal would cover these kind of things quite nicely. Though a Cook of the Year/tri-monthly would be interesting.

To answer what Wes actually asked, I would think a 2/3rd of the crew recommendation to the CO would be a start. Would kind of suck to be a great cook on a capital ship though.

Morale award is an ooc thing for a player like recruiting and happy command.

The Zesu Chef Award:
  • This medal is awarded for demonstrated culinary excellence by any member of the Star Army of Yamatai who provides an outstanding meal or series of such to their leaders, comrades, and subordinates.
  • Looks like the morale award except it has black ends and a white middle with an extra thin black band off-set on each side (traditional culinary brigade colors), plus a golden bell pepper device affixed to the center.
Requirements:
  • Must be a member of the Star Army of Yamatai
  • Must have served as the chef de cuisine during at least one formal mess formation OR have served as the chief culinary specialist to a starship, starbase, planetside, or Rikugun unit for no less than six months or one tour of duty, whichever is shorter.
Issuing Authority:
  • This award is issued at the discretion of a chef or cook's Star Army Starship Captain or Unit commander.

That's what I'd do. Not limit it to just caretakers (pre-OR requirement, anyone can be assigned the chef for a special formal meal), but make it easier for carekaters to get it as long as they do a really good job and aren't some kind of slop-slinger for their ship/unit (which is the post-OR part). Just kind of memeing with the Iron Chef references as placeholder text under the first header there so don't think too hard about that part.

Opening it up to MOSs outside the culinary specific ones by that wording actually kinda works.

For a Star Army Cook, it's kinda a gimme. You see that on someone else's uniform, it'd be a real conversation starter.
 
Suggestion closed. It didn't seem that popular and people kept trying to change the scope, probably since few play cooks.
 
4 votes usually passes! I was actually thinking of submitting my above reply but held off because you usually work on your own suggestions so didn’t want to steal your thunder.

If you still want this award, I can photoshop a little ribbon (give me the color code you want) and submit it.
