Custom Units and Hardware

Well, there's a plot moving forward, and I want to know how we handle units that are personally customized by PCs. You know, additional armor, more or different firepower, militarizing civilian tech. How does this all go? Are the things in question put under the characters' or ship's inventory with a link to their own page?

It depends on the specific unit and military that a character is serving in, and also how much prestige and rank the character wanting to customize things has.

For example, in the SAoY, ace pilots might be allowed to have special colors on their armor, and most pilots get to choose their loadout. However actual mods to the armor would have to be approved by the unit commander (typically the ship's captain).

To answer the other question, any details about modifications would be included wherever the object is listed. So, say you have a personal power armor, and you have it modified. Wherever you had it listed on your character's page should include any details on how it differs from the standard. If you're referring to a plotship, that kind of info is usually listed on the main page for the plot, not the page for the original ship design, though notable examples of a design might be noted on the original page.

Ah. Well, what I had in mind was for the Phoenix. Since they're mercenaries, they could pay for personal upgrades and customizations. Because of this, there would be stat changes to give the characters an edge over gear NPCs may use. Things that were on my mind included a higher output gauss rifle with a +1 ADR and a more heavily armored power armor with +2 ASP.

For these status changes, is submission necessary? I noticed that the Wish Mindy did not have any status bonuses, but did mention an upgrade to its armor plating.
