VENUSHHURL, Uesu Sector, 18日 4月 YE 46 — A combined fleet of Star Army, Uesureyan, and Nepleslian warships together captured a strategically vital system from the Mishhuvurthyar, allowing quick transit between the Kikyo Sector and its ally in the Uesureyan Star Empire.
The Venushhurl System, located in the same faraway southern sector where Yamatai's former Emperor Kitsurugi Uesu established a new empire, was wrested from Mishhuvurthyar control by ships of the Star Army First Fleet, Task Force 282, and Star Army of Uesureya. A significant contingent of Rikugun soldiers and allies from the Star Military of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia participated as part of the SAoY's Task Force 282. A wormhole present in Venushhurl—the termini of which lay in the southeastern Kikyo Sector and Uesu Sector—had been under the control of Mishhuvrthyar forces, and was protected by a starbase located just outside of the interstellar tunnel's event horizon.
"This wormhole gives the Star Army direct access to fighting the NMX where they are and is an important first step in successfully eradicating their threat from the Galaxy," said the First Fleet's Taisho Kessaku Irim in a statement. "It also connects us to our military allies in the new Uesureyan Star Empire, allowing us to join forces against our mutual enemy."
Following its capture, the Venushhurl wormhole was named Kawa no Uesu—Uesu's River—by the Yamatai Star Empire.
Soldiers from the Task Force 282 ship YSS Kaiyō II spearheaded the operation during a pre-battle infiltration of the Mishhuvurhtyar space station. In their swift attack, these soldiers were able to successfully capture the station's command center to open the wormhole and allow Taisho Irim's First Fleet and other allies passage.
The Kikyo Sector's combined fleet linked up with Star Army of Uesureya ships and scattered the defending Mishhuvurthyar fleet in a surprise attack. Rikugun soldiers from Legions 776, 777, and 778 arrived alongside the main Kikyo Sector fleet to secure the Mishhuvurthyar star fortress following the Kaiyō team's infiltration.
Approximately 4,000 Mishhu ships were stationed at the Venushhurl System's starbase. The appearance of over 5,000 attacking vessels from the First Fleet and Star Army forces, plus a simultaneous push by Uesureyan warships, forced a Mishhuvurthyar retreat. The battle was relatively short but was defined by intense close quarters fighting as Star Army ships speared deep into the unexpecting Mishhuvurthyar battle lines, with ships such as the First Fleet's YSS Resurgence repelling Mishhu boarding parties in personal combat even as the fight turned against the Venushhurl System's devilish defenders.
"I am pleased with the efforts of the First Fleet's ships—both the special forces Kaiyō II and Resurgence—and with the overall force who went to battle," Taisho Irim stated.
During the Kaiyō II's initial operation to capture the wormhole's controlling space station, the ship's soldiers encountered a gathering of Mishhuvurthyar overlords and generals. Chusa Ketsurui Aiko, the Kaiyō II's First Officer, is credited with the destruction of several among the enemy leadership's number. Together, the power armor team sent into battle from the Kaiyō II under their captain Taisa Taiyou Hoshi was awarded the Yui's Blood Medallion for the significance of their actions and instrumental role in connecting Yamatai with her far-flung allies.
Post-battle operations are still ongoing to clean up the Venushhurl System and root out Mishhuvurthyar forces entrenched on the planets there. The capture of this wormhole will allow the Star Army of Yamatai to better coordinate war efforts with allies from the far-off Uesureyan Star Empire. Previously, travel between the Kikyo Sector and Uesu Sector by way of hyperspace fold took between weeks and months depending on the speed of a vessel making the trip.
"Though a once a powerful tool against Yamataians and Uesureyans alike when in the hands of the enemies, Kawa no Uesu is now something to be utilized by us," Taisa Hoshi said. "Securing this wormhole meant bridging our two great peoples together, making it as if we were never separated by weeks of travel time. I’m proud of my team for doing so efficiently and proud of the relationship we’ve been able to foster between the Uesureyan and Yamataian Empires."
