Elysian Naval Arsenal, Keren III — The ECS Panopteles, an exploration vessel, has been recommissioned by the Elysian Celestial Empire after seven years of being out of commission. The ship was part of a pair of experimental vessels that were designed to explore the Elysian Expanse. However, in YE 38, the Panopteles’ sister ship, the YSS Anoiktos, experienced a catastrophic loss of aether reactor containment while exploring the Eudokia system, thus sparking a massive search and rescue operation that - despite lasting for nearly two years - was unable to find the vessel’s aft section.
The Panopteles was docked at the Elysian Naval Arsenal on Keren III in the Keren System for a thorough inspection, additional diagnostics, and extended spaceworthiness trials after the disappearance of the Anoiktos; though the Star Army of Yamatai gave the vessel a clean bill of health in the spring of YE 40, bureaucratic delays and budgetary cuts caused by the ongoing political gridlock in the Elysian Senate caused the ship’s recommissioning ceremony to be delayed until yesterday, when it was held at the Elysian Naval Arsenal. The ship’s captain, Duplicari Ramiel Aemilia, said that the Panopteles is ready to resume its mission of exploring new frontiers and defending Elysia’s interests.
The Panopteles will be exploring the Elysian Expanse, conducting scientific experiments, documenting any previously-unknown phenomena, and ensuring the region’s territorial integrity. The ship is expected to depart from the Elysian Naval Arsenal sometime in the opening weeks of Kugatsu, and begin its first deployment in the Expanse.
