El-S1-1 Lilaea

A 3d render is better than none. Personally, I was hoping to see different angles of the render in the article. If you could include one or two in the appearance section, it'd be a nice touch.

The maximum FTL speed makes me gnash my teeth in frustration. Wes instated the speed standard, but then everyone pretty much tried to get the top/best for their ships/submissions/designs. That made Wes do a double standard and give the Plumeria a "super-secret speed" which frankly I found disgusting because it was simply another cheap attempt from Wes to stick his things at the top - but since everyone was at the top - higher than the top.

And now, this submission has a speed reaching Wes' notion of the top. How long before other nations reach that particular engine performance milestone and that then, Wes decides to make a Plumeria-successor gunship and have it go faster by 3000c more?

This is not really your fault, Orion, but I mean to say it.

Regarding armor/shields, all seems in order. I liked to see the mention that most of the time, front shields would be reinforced to the detriment of rear shields. That reminded me a bit of the way Klingon set their defensive systems.

Regarding weapon systems, there are two points I'd like to bring up.

The first is the Beam Eyes. I understand they've been converted already, but the beam eyes seem to share the same complications the KFY variable weapon pods hold. Switching them to only anti-mecha was a good move... but an alternative could be to treat them in the same fashion that Star Army weapon pods are treated (give them a collective SDR 2 for the whole array of beam eyes) depending on if you still want them to remain effective against starships or not.

The others are the aether flechettes. The weapon system seems sound, and I like that you took into account they they would be used in the light second range with an auto-tracking feature, but I personally feel it might be better for you to tone down its damage potential to DR 4 instead of 5.

Why? Well, firstly, they sound fairly small and they appear to have a quick reloading rate (I tried to make the new DR system a measurement of how much harm a weapon could do in 10 seconds) and secondly, even with DR 4, the Lilaea actually can dish out more damage with its weapons than Wes' Plumeria gunship.

It's using the same system Plumeria is, more or less. Since that was among the things Yamatai sent to Elysia after the treaty. Linky

Will toy with that when I'm back on my other computer, the one that can run DoGA and not asplode.

I see no need for them to damage starships, personally. They always struck me as primarily a point defense weapon. Make it hell for a power armor or a fighter to get too close, but not all that dangerous to big things.

Duly noted. I shall edit.

The bridge is at the front! Protecting the bridge comes before protecting the auxiliary engines.

Edited the damage and added another view to the appearance section. :? It did nothing to boost my confidence in my rendering abilities. Oh well First render ever. Could be worse.

Edit: And added a third render. I am done with this aspect for now. That help you a little more? ^^

Reservations about the FTL speeds remain. You justified it well on the in-character perspective, but I still think it was a very dirty move on Wes' part originally which sets what I deem a really bad precedent with possibly inflammatory long term repercussions.

If you want to avoid most of the heat other discontented faction managers could throw the way of this double-standard, you may want to have the maximum speed top at 20 000c instead of 21 250c to be more diplomatically correct (not be seen as cheating like Wes seems to be in the eyes of others). Most other factions do recognize that 20 000c is the upper speed limit in the universe (besides hyperspace) following the speed standard article so you'd maintain the notion of Elysia's technological credibility in the eyes of your peers.

It may be a good idea to write under each rendered picture just what the viewer is looking at. I think the second picture was a ventral view and the third view was overlooking the front-dorsal side of the vessel... but I'm not exactly sure.

I also think your camera angles could have been better, but then again, I'm by profession a scenarist/image composition expert so view this only as a nitpick.

I know they could have. I have exactly zero experience with this sort of thing. Plus I lack significantly in 3D spatial sense. In the future I may have the money to pay other people to do stuff like this for me and make it look, err, not sucky.

The first is from above, second is from below, third is from directly in front.

I'll worry more about this after sleep. The sedatives are kicking in.

The sensor section needs to be rewritten. It's pure copy pasta from the MEGAMI article!

The Lilaea has organs that can project peristaltic fields
Huh?

A ship with 12 SP is never suited to fleet warfare, IMO. Even escort missions are questionable since they are defensive.

Crataeis article, actually.

And while we're at this, Concordia.

For comparison, MEGAMI.
https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=stararmy:megami

So yes. Not copypasta of Megami. Copypasta of Crataeis. Considering it uses an identical computer system and all. On a side note Mnemosyne probably deserves its own wiki page; I'll discuss that with Thomas.

...will edit. Dangers of working during insomnia spells.

A fleet consists of more than just the large ships. You'll note particularly that Elysia has a fair number of ships with lower than average SP due to a tendency towards lighter armor. It also has a couple with very high SP, but anyway that's getting into unrelated territory.

Point conceded on escort missions.

Edits:
- Lowered speed for the sake of diplomacy.
- Removed 'escort' from mission profile.
- Edited and clarified 'peristaltic field' phail.

Problems?

Integrated Electronics Package is so fast
The Crataeis needs to be rewritten too, then, since its sensor section is all copy-pasta.

<.< It would be really nice if this had been brought up, just maybe, during the approval process of the other Elysian ships.

Considering...
(a) The quoted text in the above post does not appear anywhere in the current MEGAMI article
(b) The Crataeis (and Concordia, Thantros, and Lilaea) sensors are clearly based off but not directly copied from MEGAMI
(c) A significant number of the sensors in the MEGAMI article aren't actually explained, just noted with a range afterwards (...particularly everything to do with aether...)
...I'm somewhat confused as to where this became copypasta.

I'll see what I can do. In the meantime consider this submission on hold, since apparently every Elysian starship of the past 2(?) years needs significant changes now, and I'd rather not go into that without discussing with Thomas first.

If you’d like another point of view. . .

It does not look as if he just copy-pasted from the MEGAMI, which is quite obvious once you read the both of them. It is similar of course, and is based off of it. It’s supposedly some of the best technology in the universe, so why wouldn’t they copy it? I mean, countries here on earth do it all the time. Though, if that was such a big problem, shouldn’t something have been said when the other submissions were made with this exact same system?

Quite frankly, you can tell that he in fact did copy and paste from the other Elysian ships, which had already been approved. The precedent had been set, so why should it be a problem now?

I wrote that sensor text.

I would prefer the Elysian text be original.

As I said, I'll work on it. If I don't see Thomas shortly I'll handle it myself though I would *like* to get his input before I make changes to his ships. I just think this probably should have been brought up on the Crataeis, or Concordia, or Thantros...

Other than the sensors do you have any issues?

The images seem to be missing in this article, unfortunately.

Looking back at the revisions I can see they were hosted on a service called Imagecave but all the old links to them are broken now (this is why Star Army doesn't allow third-party image hosts on the wiki!).
