Just a quick hello, only just found the site today and spent a while making my first character. I've been role-playing for a good few years and wanted to find a site that just did Sci-Fi, since a lot are fantasy based nowadays. Anyway, so yeah, hope to write with you some time.
 
I hope you fall in love with the Star Army setting and stick around for a long time. There's certainly a lot of room to add to Star Army's ever-expanding universe and I look forward to seeing how your RP and suggestions improve and grow it. I'm Wes, the site's founder and admin, and I'm on here every day so if you got questions about the universe, I'm happy to answer them.

Stuff to know:

For Open RP Forum threads, you can just pick one you like and basically jump right in. Note that it's courteous and helpful to read the plot page and to talk in the plot's OOC thread first. The Open RP forum is a manifestation of us wanting to get new people into the RP as fast as possible, with a minimum of frustration. It's fast and fun and a good way to meet other players and make RP threads. You can also make your own thread if you prefer (though it's up to you to corral players if you do)!

The long-duration plots with their own subforums are intended to be much more planned and stable, so they require character approval by their GM in advance. All of the new long-term plots start their first thread in the Open RP forum, which is the best opportunity to join them at "ground level" as they're taking off.
 
I gathered as much, first site I've seen to actually implement it this well though. Thanks for the welcome and I'll keep that in mind, though I'd read over almost all of the Wiki so there's not much I can think of in the way of questions, bar maybe who do I ask to have a look-see over my character? Don't want to jump right in until I know he's done 100%.
 
Characters are usually evaluated/approved by the GM of the plot(s) you want to join, or the faction manager for the faction the character is for, but any "vet" player can provide advice. The chat may be a good place to find help. I'm willing to look at your WIP character, too! Chances are you're not going to have issues with making a character, unless they're something related to some technical detail of the setting (like, saying your character enlisted in the Star Army before the Star Army was created)...which is usually something only old characters run into, and then we can just adjust things to fit. The main thing is just thinking of the character's essence, like personality, and finding an RP.

PS: Also, you can always make a "disposable" first character to test the waters before making a detailed one.
