It was half-past-six in the morning; the blond-haired Shoi in charge of the Pride Wing’s training was in the armor bay. He had been there since five-thirty doing his morning exercises in the bay in case any recruits decided to show up early. "One hundred thirty-two, one hundred thirty-three, one hundred, thirty-four," Akira counted each rep as he lowered his upper body so his face would be level with the floor then used his arms to push himself up. What was the most daunting however was that the Shoi was at a diagonal slant towards the floor, his feet were hooked in the rungs of one of the ladders in the bay used to reach the upper half.

Kuriko rolled over and looked at Maya. "Ne... Maya. We gotta get up. We're gonna be late if we don't hurry. Akira-shoi will be mad," Kuriko said groggily before pulling herself out of bed. The Neko moaned unhappily as she searched through her closet for a clean uniform and began to dress.

Maya was slowly waking up as Kuriko was rolling over. "Alright... alright... give me a second!" Maya was rubbing the sleep out of her eyes as she walked over to her duffel to change into uniform.

Nyoko entered the bay timidly, she did not know what to expect today. Peering around the bay, she spied the Shoi exercising. Well at least he keeps active, she thought, looking around for Shunrai, her power armor, then started to slowly make her way toward it. Maybe the Shoi would ignore her and leave her be as she examined the armor.

Mizu rolled out of her bed, grabbing what she needed for the showers and headed out in her undergarments to the shower facilities on the deck she was on, Deck 19.

"One hundred fifty," Akira counted off his last push up as before pushing up with a forceful spring and gained just enough air to place his boots on the floor and stand straight. He took a few moments to stretch out his muscles afterwards and approached the timid pilot. He pushed a hand through his hair and glanced over at her machine. "You take good care of it, and it'll take good care of you," he commented as she examined her Mindy, then made his way over to a small counter a few paces away. From there he seemed to be intent finishing his coffee and reading over a data-pad.

As soon as Kuriko was completely dressed she started toward the armor bay. "See ya later," the Neko called to Maya as she left the room. After a short walk and a brief ride in the lift, Kuriko found herself entering the power armor bay where Pride Wing was stationed. Kuriko walked over to stand behind Nyoko as she looked at her armor. "Ohayo," the Neko said amiably as she approached. "Ano, I don't wanna be rude, but could you help me with some of the stuff on Sigmund? I'm not sure I know what I'm doing quite yet," Kuriko said quietly.

Maya was close to finishing up getting into uniform by the time Kuriko left out the door. "Sayonara!" After Maya was done getting dressed, she also put on some leather fingerless gloves she bought at the PX before arriving aboard the Senbu that she hoped would help her with her marksmanship. Maya then holstered her NSP, fixed her dreads, and went over to Kuriko's private console. "MEGAMI, where is the Shosa this morning?” she asked.

"In her living quarters, deck sixteen," the nearly monotone telepathic voice of the Senbu's MEGAMI responded to Maya.

Nyoko smiled as the Shoi made his comment, nodding her head in a sort of bow to him as she continued to examine her armor, running several diagnostics just to be sure. Then Kuriko suddenly appeared, by Nyoko's standards at least, she just appeared and surprised the Neko, causing her to jump with a start. Her sudden movement, however, made her feet catch on either an imaginary item or something quite real, sending her toppling over in a heap in front of Kuriko.

"Sumimasen!" Kuriko said emphatically as she tried to help Nyoko up. "Sumimasen!" the Neko repeated over and over, while making small bowing motions at the same time once Nyoko was standing back up.

Nyoko blushed fiercely as Kuriko helped her up, "Thank you Kuriko-san." Nyoko bowed slightly in return, her face still quite apple red. "How can I help you Kuriko-san?"

"Anou... I'm not quite sure how to check and make sure that some of the stuff on Sigmund is ok. Can you show me how to do that?" Kuriko asked, still embarrassed from causing Nyoko to topple over.

Maya tapped the console in acknowledgment. "Thanks, MAEGAMI, at least you’re an improvement over the MEGAMI on the Takemitsu." Maya then slipped on a bandana so that her dreadlocks were out of her face and to make it look a little more well-kept as she was heading out the door. Maya then headed for the turbolift and telepathically made the command to go to the officers’ quarters on deck 16. When the lift reached its destination, Maya got off and walked down the hall, looking for the door with Shosa's nameplate on it. When she found the right one, Maya pushed the call button and announced her presence, "Shosa Shizuka? Ittô Hei Yoshihara here, arriving at your request."

Nyoko nodded her head and smiled, "Ok, show me Sigmund and what you want to do. I'll show you what I can. I do not know everything. If I do not know, ask the Shoi – Akira." Nyoko was nervous and it showed as she started to play with a piece of hair as she talked.

Kuriko led Nyoko over to her Mindy. "I'm not sure what to look for when checking to see if there are any mechanical problems," Kuriko said as she pointed at various parts of the Mindy. "I only know how to use it... I don't have a clue what to do to maintain it." Kuriko was slightly embarrassed that she didn't know what she was doing. It can't be helped, I guess, the Neko silently reasoned.

Mizu came out of the Shower, towel on her head and toothbrush in her mouth; she headed back to her quarters with the rest of her things and brought out her uniform and accessories. Mizu had all of the uniform on minus that of the top, as she still had a toothbrush in her mouth, so she just took her uniform top with her and went back into the bathroom and spat out the toothpaste that was in her mouth, rinsed and cleaned her toothbrush and headed back to her room once more. Mizu put her top on, adjusted her rank pins, and placed her hygienic items away. It's a good morning, I wonder who all is at the Pride Wing bay, Mizu thought to herself as she exited her room and walked to the lift, riding it down to Deck 24 on port side with a smile as well as humming a wistful note.

As Kuriko explained her plight she nodded, reasoning that Kuriko probably was not originally a pilot and through odd luck just happened to land here on the Senbu in perhaps one of the most dangerous jobs. "Well..." Nyoko started, looking over the armor. "You have to start with the basics, first run an automated check, go over the list... and see if the automated test detected anything wrong." Nyoko continued to play with the loose strand of hair. "You know how to run the automated checks?" She went over to Sigmund’s console showing it to Kuriko.

A loud crash could be heard from the muffle of the door to the Shosa’s room, then a few small thuds and bangs. Then, there was silence... a second or two passed, then the door opened, the Shosa standing in a half buttoned white dress shirt and black underwear underneath. Her hair was messier than normal, which would be quite the feat for the captain’s already chaotic sandy blonde lion mane. With half-lidded eyes, she stared at Maya with an unamused look about her; she even wobbled in her step for a second as she glared at the Hei. "It's morning, what could you possibly need from me at," she paused to look back in her mess of a room for a clock, forgetting for a moment that she had a clock internally. She wobbled and turned back towards Maya, "at… so early in the morning?"

Kuriko shook her head, "Nope. I wish I did, unfortunately, I only know how to get in and work it." As Kuriko spoke she kind of looked down at the ground again.

Nyoko nodded, "Well... it’s like a work of art? Do you like art? You see first you need to gain access to your armor. That’s easy enough. So let’s start with that." She smiled to Kuriko.

Maya couldn’t help but blush after looking at the Shosa dressed in her current state and looked at her apologetically. "I'm sorry Ma'am. Yesterday, you did say to see at your earliest convenience for some questions, but if this is a bad time then I can come back at a later date. Sorry for disturbing you." Maya then bowed and began to turn around to walk back to the turbolift.

"I like art, though it's a little less... traditional than most art," Kuriko said as she thought of the small collection of 'art' that she had back in her room. Kuriko followed Nyoko's instructions with the armor interface screen.

Nyoko’s smile got bigger as Kuriko mentioned she liked art, even if it was not traditional art. "Well then, just enter the auto-diagnostics," she added, pointing out the directions to Kuriko on the screen. "Then you just have to wait for it to complete."

"Huh?" Shizuka scratched the back of her head and watched the Hei turn around and walk away. "Wait, what do you think your doing?" the Captain rubbed her eyes and looked around her feet, for what? Well, she may have been looking for something throw at Maya but didn't really have the effort at the moment to grab anything. "Wait here, that's an order,” the Captain said as she turned back into her room, the door shutting after her.

Maya stopped her feet after the Shosa started yelling at her and barking orders. "Ma'am? Did I do something wrong?" Maya just stood there, confused, as she watched the Shosa combing the quarters for whatever until she gave the order to sit tight. "Understood, Ma'am," Maya replied as the Shosa closed the door on her face. I'll bet she's actually quite cute when you get know her, she thought

Kuriko laughed as she watched Nyoko point out how to run the auto diagnostic. "I'm sorry," Kuriko said in between gasps for air. “I feel pretty stupid for not having thought of that myself," Kuriko said as her face turned a bright beat red.

Nyoko laughed nervously as Kuriko continued to apologize to her. It was not her fault for not knowing. "It’s alright. When someone does something new to them they usually are hesitant in taking the first steps on their own."

Mizu stepped off the lift when it stopped at Deck 24 and spaced out as she wandered into the Pride Wing’s bay, running her left hand over the surface of her Mindy.

Kuriko tried to calm herself a bit when she started to notice Nyoko's apprehension. After a few seconds the results came back, and as expected there were no issues. "There don't seem to be any problems," Kuriko said as she turned to Nyoko. "Thank you for helping me!" the Neko said, still slightly embarrassed, but hiding it better this time. "Ne, Nyoko-hei, if I have any problems, could I ask you for help?" Kuriko asked.

The terminal beside Kuriko's armor came alive as the screen filled with a list of systems and units incorporated to her armor, each item on the list had a small line of quickly changing data lines and a quickly filling status bar as the hangar's highly fine tuned instruments. It took a few more moments, and then each bar displayed all her systems at 100%.

Nyoko nodded with a smile, "Of course, Kuriko-hei, just ask any time I will be glad to help." She paused for a moment as she saw Mizu come into the bay. "Mizu. Good morning," she said as she bowed to her. "Mizu-hei, you’re better with power armor than me; could you help Kuriko-hei?"

Mizu looked over from seeing over her Mindy, smiling when she met eyes with Nyoko, "Ohayo, Nyo-hei. Of course I can, I would never neglect offering aid to my friends and fellow crewmates." Mizu paced over to where Nyoko was.

The YSS Senbu was making its way into another 3 AU-wide cloud of sensor disturbance in its hunt for the Vampire pirate ship. Another field of ship debris lay in the wake of the retreating fleet that attacked Nataria. There was little left what appeared to be a supply convoy, its escorts lay mostly intact, but like the rest of the area they were scrap and had been picked clean of their valuable supplies and armaments. The officer in charge of the deck at the time was no doubt Shizuka’s XO, as it was still quite early in the morning and the Captain had ordered not to be disturbed until ten at earliest, though that order wasn’t really passed on to anyone besides the ship’s administration. She really didn’t expect Maya or anyone else to show up so early to be given her new post. It was at least a good fifteen minutes before the lionesque Shosa emerged from her den to join the Hei.

Maya stood at attention as the Shosa emerged from her quarters. “You’re looking very pretty this morning, feeling better, Ma'am?" Maya said, then gave her a sly wink.

The woman that came out of the room still didn't seem to be quite pleased with being up. "Thank you, Ittô Hei, but it'll be a little longer before I'm fully awake, so you may have to bear with me like this for now," she mentioned as she continued past Maya, keeping a very professional tone to her tired voice. Shizuka called up the lift as she approached the entrance, then just before she walked into the doors it opened up as if on cue. The Shosa waited a moment for the Hei to join her as she contemplated their destination, pushing a hand through her messy sandy blonde hair to get the bangs out of her eyes.

Maya joined the Shosa in the elevator before it closed. "Shall I get you a cup of coffee from the mess?" Maya was starting to look a little concerned over her new CO as she waited for her to confirm their destination.

"I'll get one for myself, don't worry about it, Ittô Hei, but you can join me for one. We can get these questions out of the way so I can get you lined up with a squad," Shizuka said with a small nod as the lift started to descend. The small digital display of the current deck began to change rapidly as they quickly made their way down to Deck 10 where the main enlisted mess facilities were located.

Maya nodded with a smile to the Shosa. "Alrighty then! Whatever you say, Skipper!" Maya then looked up and watched as the digital display quickly made its way down.

The lift stopped at the destination and the Shosa exited into the tenth deck. She briskly walked to the large ward room and made her way up to the ordering area and requested two coffees from one of the red-haired sprites in charge of the cafeteria-styled mess hall. Then, once she got her mug of the hot contents, she led the Hei to a table off in the corner of the ward room and gestured for the seat across from the one she was just sitting at.

Maya followed the Shosa off the elevator and into the mess hall. Maya watched as the Shosa headed over to the ordering area and ordered two coffees and followed her to a table and gestured for her to sit down. She did so opposite of the Shosa and tried to take a sip of the coffee. Normally she hated the stuff, but tried to suck it down and give the Shosa a good impression.

Meanwhile, back in Pride Wing’s bay, Kuriko glanced back at the console as Mizu started to walk over to her. As she looked at her armor's console, the Hei thought about something else. "Ano, if you'll excuse me for a bit," Kuriko bowed as she spoke before heading off to where Akira was sitting. "Ano, sumimasen Shoi-sama," Kuriko said nervously.

"Good morning, Kuriko-hei. The training operation won't be starting for another few minutes. What can I do for you?" The Shoi seemed in an all around generally better mood than the day previous, but his cold veteran expression showed little for it, he just always seemed to carry an air of seriousness about him, no matter the situation.

"I'm sorry to bother you, but I feel that I don't quite have the same amount of knowledge as other pilots around me." Kuriko messed with a string of her hair as she spoke. "Do you have any resources that I could use to catch up to everyone else? Books, manuals, videos, anything at all?" As Kuriko asked the question, gradually her eyes slid away from the Shoi and down to the ground. He's cute! the Neko childishly thought, causing her cheeks to turn a very light shade of red.

The blonde-haired Shoi raised a brow inquisitively as the young Neko Hei lowered her eyes. He curiously wondered the cause of her red cheeks, but dismissed it as he took another drink from his Star Army spill-proof coffee mug. "Stop by my room after the operation, Kuriko-Hei, I have a few things I may be able to offer you," he said with a small nod. "For now, just be sure to do your best and keep your eyes on your peers." He then turned his attention back to his data pad as he gazed over the young blushing Neko's profile.

Kuriko was just about to move away when something stopped her. His name! Kuriko thought madly. He invited you to his room and you don't even know his name! This thought alone filled Kuriko with a mixed sense of dread and giddy apprehension. "Ano, I forgot to ask Shoi-sama, but what should I call you?" Kuriko's face was a little redder than previously, and the Neko seemed just slightly more jumpy.

On the bridge, the monotony of the day’s routine was broken when something was picked up on the ship’s sensors. "Saiga-shoi, we’re picking up what may be life forms on one of the ships. We can't get an all-too-good scan on them with the sensor interference, but the scan that did make it through showed that they may be survivors of the attack on the most intact transport vessel," one of the bridge's sensor operators in the lower tiers of the ship's multilevel command bay called above the normal buzz of conversation in the room, which caused the chatter to hush for a moment as they waited for his orders. His terminal was now displaying the tactical data collected by the different command groups; one of his windows displayed the most intact ship of the convoy and the sensor results that they were talking about, it really did look like there were a few people still left alive on that ship.

Nicholas didn’t enjoy being awake this “early” any more than Shizuka, but he’d learned to adapt to odd and unexpected duty schedules and had agreed to take this shift when Shizuka had asked him to. He wanted to show her that she did not make a mistake in promoting him – that he was ready for anything that an XO would be expected to do, so the fact that he’d only slept once since he arrived on the Senbu didn’t factor into the decision. When the bridge operator addressed him, his eyes came to life out of the glazed-over daze that he’d been in, quickly darting over the relevant information on his display. “Let’s get a closer look, then,” he said after a time. “Helm, plot us a safe course through the debris and get us as close to the indicated vessel as possible,” he continued as he marked the target destination on the navigational feed.”
