So. Your Subspace Mass Sensors, they have fairly long range for such a new race. About ten light years, give or take. (1 Parsec = About 3.26 LY) As a newcomer it would probably be better you're in the lower bracket of AU then nearly one half the maximum range currently the most advanced races have.
