Approved Character Gearhead Care Seven Six 76-6165-3411

What are you thinking of doing with Care?
At the moment I've set her up to be a medic for the Yamatai. I don't have anything in particular planned for the moment, and would rather just try and develop her as a character. I think the best way for me to figure out where to go with her is to actually begin playing with her.

Ugh, what's this stuff all over my hands? Oh, it's time, I finally have time on my hands. No wonder I didn't recognize it. Anywho....

Seven Six is looking pretty well put together and looks like you have a great base for a character.

One thing that I saw that didn't add up to me is that they are a Type Three that was made right out of the gate. Normally Freespacers (at least to my knowledge), the humanoids and the automata, normally go through a phase of being a Type Two first before being allowed to progress to a Type Three. During the Type Two stage they have a toddler like mindset where they're given a task (or two! If they show potential) that they love doing and they experience the world and that task until their body's give out. Now normally this doesn't sound zen for a self-aware...person? Being? But it's pretty normal for Freespacers, and the Type Two's love it. But, again, this is to help them adjust to reality so they don't have the sudden shock that Care had.

A question that I have is, what Freespacers made Care? And what made her leave Freespacers for Yamatai? This is a bit of a point due to the Freespacer Genocide. There are those that exist within the Freespacers that high tech called the Astral Locksmiths that are all about chrome and secret info gathering/keeping. Maybe Care started there and didn't like their reclusive lifestyle?

One last thing, what kind of skills would this TraumaPatcher have? Note that Yamatai Characters have their own set of skills that would be required for a soldier of Yamatai after their training.

I'll attempt to summon @Primitive Polygon to help me out and double check me here, since I'm their co-pilot.

Thanks for looking over her!

For her being Type 3 out of the gate, that's my fault on interpreting the info. I thought that some Type 2's became Type 3's, but not all Type 3's were Type 2's. I'm open to changing this aspect of her, but in all honesty I'd like to keep her the way she is, as her mental shock is a key aspect of her personality, and something I worked from since her first draft.

As for the Freespacers that made Care, I hadn't given it much thought. When I made her and was reading up on Freespacers I was thinking she would be something like a factory line production or some degree of that, but ultimately that didn't make it as I brought her to her current form. Care herself is a more reclusive person, and a major part of that is due to the shock of her existence. The Astral Locksmiths could certainly work, and it does make some degree of sense.

She's reclusive, but at the same time she does enjoy information and socialization, just not in extreme quantities. In her personality I wrote that she views life as existing in an important manner in a small bubble around her. Maybe the reclusive and secretive life they lead was simply not enough to fill that bubble.

As for the Freespacer Genocide- Care, forgive the pun, doesn't really care. Her bubble doesn't really extend to past events, especially ones that don't seem to effect her. If it does effect her, she's so young that she doesn't know the difference. When I posted her profile, I was told that skills were optional, and, with the way I write as a more supporting role, I didn't find it conductive to list them. If you think I should need them, I'll gladly list them anyway.

For a brief explanation, she has all the skills a Yamatai basic training graduate would have, plus the medical skill and knowledge of her specialization. Beyond that? It'd like to RP her and get a feel for her before I start listing her more specific skills. In essence, I want a more bare bones character, so I can shape her through the RP she experiences.

Howdy. Thanks Cordy, but it probably is worth mentioning that Ame did alert me to this character already. ;I

The evolution between Freespacer types seems to be something that changes constantly depending on who wrote the article, to be fair, but I think it's okay if this particular fleet simply creates Type Threes off of the bat. Not that there is anything wrong with Type Twos. Heck, the introverted personality actually does rather suggest a Type Two. But that's kind of up to Jabon.

Speaking of introversion, that's also pretty much the reason why I was okay with them siding with Yamatai, that said. It's not beyond the realm of possibility. A minority of Freespacers did try and make peace afterwards, even if some of their comrades might not have agreed so much.

This probably does need just that little bit more backstory to give it that special 'high quality' character status, but I can dig it on a lot of levels. It would just be nice to know why her creators made such a mistake, and if it has anything directly to do with why they (or their creators) defected to the Yammies.

Also, the expression on that artwork is pretty darn charming, btw.

Thanks! The artist was a pleasure to order from, and I didn't give much info on facial expression besides 'happy' so that's all her work and it really shows.

The reason I went with Type Three is that it's described as the closest to human, in terms of intelligence and social ability. The reason behind Care's issues at creation are pretty simple, and I never intended there to be some deeper reason. In pretty basic terms, when Care was made she simply had too many systems turned on right away that were supposed to be turned off at first. An equivalent to an oversight from people who thought they couldn't get it wrong because of how long they had been doing it.

If it's alright with you, I'd like to explore Care in writing more before I expand upon her past in detail. The more I get a feel for her in the present, the better I can expand upon how she got where she is. I apologize if that's a bit strange, but it tends to be how I write characters.

As long as the player is aware the genocide was a thing, that's pretty much what I told Ame. A lot of Yamatai players won't, but yeah, it's there, and Care would definitely at least acknowledge that I think.

I guess the other possibility for their mental condition is that their fleet was producing new individuals at an extremely rapid pace (trying to help combat the spacer's current low population crisis), and this defect simply slipped through the quality control cracks. Just an idea. It's also worth noting that almost all of my own Freespacer characters are Twos, so I wouldn't assume they are mindless or slaves or anything. Well, not quite. Their narrow veiwpoint just fits the theme, is all I'm thinking, but yeah.

You seem like a pretty good RPer and I'm willing to let a bit of vaguery slide. Most Yammie players can get by with 'they exist now and got trained' after all...

Just, you know, consult me if you want to involve other actual Freespacer sub-factions, later on down the line.

TLDR; Approved... but, resubmit if you update it, please.
