Gravity generation

Using the technology avalable in the DIN, is it theoretically or practically possible to create an artificial gravity well?

It's already being done.

Assuming you subscribe to the Higg's theory, you just create an event that attracts more gravitons.

And "Anti-gravity"? You don't fall to the nearest gravitational object. You place an equal number over you and you don't fall at all or you place a number infront of you and fall into them, like holding a carrot infront of a donkey.

Well that's good. Seeing as there aren't any concrete projects for the upcoming Cirrus Station plot, I was thinking of proposing an experimental drive that works by generating a gravity well that the ship simply 'falls' into for movement rather then relying on reaction mass.

Actually, that's concept behind Graviton drives, which are standard in all Nepleslian warships, as well as those from most other higher-tech factions.

Really? Is there an actual article for the performance and mechanism of the drives? I only ever found one on ion and fusion drives...

Well, never mind then.

It's a shame but they always supply the tech, not how well it works.

For precise flight, gravity-well systems would suck the big one, especially if you're trying to aim and you don't have arms or turrets.

And if you get hit by anything with push to knock you about or send you into a spin, you will be sent reeling and unstable if you follow Newtonian physics with the way gravity wells work.

It'd be a cool thing to make a list of this discussion for promising ship-creators. Not enough people utilize spin/rotation-created gravity (ring ships FTW) and gravity generation for ships could make a really unique article. As is, we have gravity generators that spot the wiki, but not really a guide for creating gravity for situations, ships and craft, and all the other possible things I'm missing with this generalization.

TLDR: Let's just make a thread/wiki page for those wanting to make ships with different forms of gravity generation. Wells or otherwise =3=b

@Legix: Are we sure such a page doesn't already exist?

If not, are you willing to make the basic wiki page for us (please)?

Unless it's named something weird on the wiki, we do not have something on a "Gravity Generation Guidelines" or something along those lines.

As for making a wiki, I can get right on it =3=7
