If you were supposed to get an email from the forum but didn't (e.g. to verify your account for registration), email Wes at stararmy@gmail.com or talk to me on Discord for help. Sometimes the server hits our limit of emails we can send per hour.
What do you call yourself?
HK or HotelKilo. It's an old TV Tropes handle that hasn't lost any of its vague meaning over the years.
How'd you find Star Army?
It was either TV Tropes or a Google Search that lead me to some of the character generator stuff.
What interested you in joining?
Is it shallow to say the uniforms? I love sci-fi to death, with military history being a close second. Uniforms have fascinated me for about as long as I can remember; when I first found the site I spent a good couple hours exploring the different uniform option.
Ever done this text-based roleplaying thing before?
About twelve years worth. About six of it has been worth anything quality wise (arguably).
Any previous experiences you want to share?
I've done a lot of Fallout, Star Trek, Pathfinder/D&D, and Warhammer 40k. Long ago I was in a Stargate SG-1 game for about three/four years.
Now for the questionnaire!
Do you prefer:
Playing male, female, or other-gendered characters?
Female.
Spontaneous or planned RP?
Either, really. Depends on the mood; if I'm feeling creative I can sustain an engaging free RP for a long time.
Military or civilian characters?
Military.
Humans, androids, anthros, or aliens?
First two.
Being on a starship or being on a planet?
Either!
Roleplay via forum posts or in real-time?
Used to be purely the former; a few years ago I was first exposed to the holy light of IRC, though, and have found it a welcome diversion (especially in college classes).
On a scale of 1 to 3, what's your preferred level of these in your RP:
Language: 1 to 3
Violence: 1 to 3
Sexuality: 1 to 3
What's something cool you'd love to RP?
I love playing combat roles, but I have a weakness in my heart for playing administrative/logistics types that don't get a lot of attention.
Yeah he's not kidding. This guy will spend hours geeking out over uniform design and artists who depict it well...
Aaanyway...
Welcome to SARP! As Wes observed, you should do just fine here given your history and interests. If, for some reason, you do find yourself with questions, don't be afraid to ask, whether it be in chat, PM, on a forum, whatever. All the active people here are quite helpful.
Yes, Wes has a bit of an obsession when it comes to uniforms. . But then everyone on the site, has something that they are truly passionate about. Look around and see what catches your fancy. If you have questions, feel free to ask them.
Welcome to the infinite expanse that is SARP! You'll find some discussions on uniforms here and there, they're near impossible to not stunble on eventually. Something to look forward to!
You don't understand, do you? All your suffering, from ALL your hobbies, was all part of a incredible unlikely, extraordinarily convoluted plot for my amusement!
