How do I use the functions?

Okay I guess I should know this stuff by now but I don't. I'm lazy when I'm not busy and busy when I can't be lazy.

First off.... how do I make a word into a link to something? Like I figured out how to use the URL button but how do I make the nifty click this 'word' and it's the link happen?

Second... how do I link music to a post like how a buncha you people have done in the past? If not to play throughout the forum but at least to make it clickable to play or something.

Third... alright how do I make my rank appear in a post? Like when I go to signup for a plotship or wanna sign a communication and have the rank present. How? HOW?

I think that's it. I probably missed the big explanatory sticky because I was too lazy. Or busy. Which one was it?

If you put your mouse over the buttons for the bbcode, it shows under them how they are used.

Linking to another page is easy. Essentially, you have to put url tags around your word and assign the address to which you want the link to lead. Like so:

This is an example of a link which would lead to the Star Army splash page. Click [url=https://stararmy.com/]here[/url].

Result:

This is an example of a link which would lead to the Star Army splash page. Click here.

Music files can be embedded in a post through HTML coding. I am unfamiliar with the process itself though. best bet for you would be to visit the concerned thread and quote the post in which it is embedded to see how the writter did it.

Linking an image is also pretty easy. You go to the rank page and get the address of image you want to use. Then, you put it inbetween image tags... like so:

Which would do:

...like Wes said, the buttons above the writting area are meant to be used so: highlight the text you want to affect (surround in formatting tags) and click the appropriate button for what you want to do.
