To the Office of Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Himiko I of Yamatai,
Praise be to the steady hand that ruled against sudden or hasty judgement, and the swift resolution of the disastrous events that transpired at Asura.
Our actions shall be explained thusly: it was our simple intention to transport those dissidents who chose statelessness within the former UOC territories over your wise and just rule to our own homeworlds so as to insulate these people from the predations of pirates and other looming threats. Disaster placed the lead ship on Asura, far beyond the course charted, and transmission lag that led to the news only reaching our territories days later.
When we were prepared to bring aid to the world in restitution and offer our assistance in stabilizing the situation, news again arrived that Yamatai was preparing to invade shattered resolve and put the nation into a state of panic. Although we have made effort to be amicable in the past, the history of others has taught us nothing if not to be cautious in our dealings with your wondrous empire. To those who counseled patience and delicacy in the resolution of the matter, the representatives and governors of the Iromakuanhe Astral Commonwealth desire to convey our sincerest thanks and respect.
We will admit fault and desire to pay restitution to the people of Asura and those lives expended by your Empire to return the damaged regions of Asura to livable status, while removing contaminants released by the destruction of Commonwealth military equipment as we are uniquely capable of. However, though our aid is unconditional we would ask for some justice for those who lost their lives to treachery. Though initially welcomed by people of Asura even in the wake of the tragedy of their planetfall, the greed of the empire's governors on the planet that put its citizens at risk and lead to the unnecessary loss of many. They gleefully lied to their own people and spurred them on to die assaulting our forces, dishonoring themselves, their station and the history of peace between our people.
The tragedy ends there, however, and there are worse things looming.
The intervention shadowy forces intent to glean secrets from our technology, as well as yours. They have attacked Asura and done so brazenly in the presence of your mighty Star Army. They used the technology of the Lazarus Consortium, a cult that prizes freedom at any cost and practices unethical science in the dark places of space, and bore the colors or flags of no nation or chartered army.
We suspect foul play and malign intentions, and desire some recourse so that these harms are not repeated and their aims are not accomplished. As another offended party, the right to do so is shared with you.
We desire to cooperate in hunting this unknown party down. The terms may be discussed, but our intentions are now clear.
Long live the Empress,
Ardhan Solan, Adjutant to the Makuzhar
