RIVERNIA
System: Eneri
Planet: Rivernia (Eneri IV)
Type: Terrestrial
Stellar Radius: 2.5 Solar Radii
Circumference: 150000 km
Surface Gravity: 1.3 G
Length of Day: 36.5 hours
Length of Year: 340 days
Planet Description:
Covered in thick foilage, most of Rivernia's climate acts like a Terran rainforest. It's trees, shrubs and botanical life is usually a deep green, but can be lavender, indigo or teal in color. Thick clouds cover most of the environment, which leads to an overcast-like light pattern on it's surface. The rain they carry is nearly pure water. Usually, the air carries a light electric charge, so lightning strikes rarely. When the clouds do lift, the bright-orange sun is a sight to behold from the surface.
Rivernians:
--Physical--
The Rivernians are geshrinoid in appearance, with light skin and silver to brown hair. They have twin vocal cords, which they can use one at a time or smultaneously. This makes for a very interesting and unpronouncable language. the slightly heavier gravity on Rivernia means that their leg muscles are stronger than most Geshrin.
--Culture--
The average Rivernian's home is high in the trees, either a sphere or hemisphere constructed from metal plates. This is because the ground usually floods when it rains, which would drown any Rivernian homes there. Walkways, lifts, and ladders serve as roadways to get from house to house. The cities are unconnected, and the Rivernians will sail or fly to another city if they need to get there.
Their language is an entirely different matter. Words always end with a vowel, except in rare cases. A Rivernian speaking English will have the telltale accent of always adding some vowel sound after each word. Some words use both vocal cords to pronounce, and these usually have significance to the collective Rivernian species. Such a pronouciation is found in "Dûnĕka." Meaning "god" or "goddess," it is pronounced somewhat like "Dueneika," except that the accented letters are pronounced with the u and e or e and i sounds together as one. A guide to the accent marks:
ˆ as in û: Pronounced ue, oe, ie, ae, ee
˘ as in ĕ: Pronounced ua, oa, ia, aa, ea
ˉ as in ā: Pronounced ui, oi, ii, ai, ei
