Seijin no Umi, Port City of Taiie
(Saint of the Sea)
Capital City of Taiie
Population: 876,000
The Taiie colony was established in YE 28, with the successful insertion of a Katsuko Class Colony Outpost on the surface by the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet. By mid YE 28, the domes had served their purpose and were systematically deconstructed by the Star Army Corp. of Engineers to make way for expansion and a more permanent city. A site was chosen on the Kouun Peninsula, on the shores of Gekido Sea and construction began almost immediately.
The new city, called Seijin no Umi (Saint of the Sea) was born, the city held a whimsical air about it, capturing an almost traditional feel with its windjammer littered harbor and its clean towering commercial district along the shore. The city holds a reputation for its grand hotels and its coastal life style, tourists often find themselves experiencing the beauty of Taiie's largest sea through sailing excursions to view the rocky shore, or to encounter some of the unique marine life that the sea is a home to. Warm temperatures of the planets tropical region allow for low plankton loads, giving the water that classic crystalline look.
In addition to the tourists, the beautiful scenery surrounding has also attracted businesses seeking places to build offices, retail outlets, and other stores. With the commercial development came employees and their families, boasting a mostly Yamataian and NH-29 population the city has a pristine residential sector, and a thieving night life supported by a large number of sea-side clubs, bars and spas.
Although small, Seijin no Umi also has an industrial sector. The colonies commission has declared it as a clean zone, attracting mostly electronics and high technology industries. With plenty of room for expansion the city is an ideal location to live, work and play.
The Star Army presence in the city is high, the original military dome and planetary command are still intact on the edge of the peninsula. It commonly is the destination of choice of those assigned to the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, and by some has even become home.
In YE 29, under the new administration of Taisho Koyanagi Mayumi, Taiie and the Fifth Expeditionary Fleet were given representation on the Yamataian Imperial Senate. With representation Taiie would be given the chance to play a role in the future of the empire, and open itself up for expansion.
