Yayoi and Yuri

Yayoi, a Joto Heisho ranked member of the Yamatai Star Empire's Star Army, moved with a silent grace through Reikan Park, the designated venue for the upcoming International Relations conference. As she traversed the meticulously manicured pathways of the park, her mind buzzed with anticipation and reverence for the significance of the event. This gathering was not just another routine diplomatic affair; it was a convergence of minds from across the vast expanse of the Kikyo Sector, each participant bringing their own perspectives, agendas, and aspirations.

For Yayoi, a soldier whose duties often involved the rigors of space combat and interstellar operations, the tranquil surroundings of Reikan Park offered a stark contrast. Yet, it was precisely this contrast that heightened her appreciation for the event unfolding before her. Here, amidst the lush greenery and serene atmosphere, diplomats and representatives would engage in discussions that could shape the course of interstellar relations for years to come.

Being part of the starship YSS Resurgence's escort mission for a diplomat added an extra layer of significance to Yayoi's presence in the park. She understood the weight of her role in ensuring the safety and security of the diplomatic envoy, knowing that the outcome of their discussions could have far-reaching consequences for the Empire and its allies.

As Yayoi continued her silent stroll, she couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at being a small cog in the intricate machinery of Yamatai's diplomatic efforts. The opportunity to witness firsthand the exchange of ideas and the forging of alliances filled her with a sense of purpose and determination. She knew that her actions, no matter how seemingly insignificant, played a vital part in upholding the Empire's interests and fostering peace and cooperation among the diverse civilizations of the Kikyo Sector.

With each step, Yayoi embraced the solemn responsibility bestowed upon her as a member of the Star Army. She stood as a silent sentinel, ready to defend the ideals and principles upon which the Yamatai Star Empire was founded. And as she gazed out upon the tranquil beauty of Reikan Park, she felt a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to serve her Empire in such a meaningful way.

Yayoi turned her head, catching sight of her daughter Yuri, who was also a member of the crew but held a lower rank as a Nito Hei and served as a medic—a role distinct from her own. As she observed Yuri's demeanor, a mixture of excitement and curiosity danced in her daughter's eyes, reflecting the youthful energy that Yayoi once possessed herself. Yet, beneath the surface, Yayoi sensed something more—a longing for connection, a desire to engage with the diverse array of individuals gathered for the conference.

A hint of a smile tugged at the corners of Yayoi's lips, but she suppressed it with a sigh, drawing Yuri's attention. "Yuri," she began, her voice carrying a mixture of affection and concern, "I'm going to go check on the Kakushi Nekoba, in town. How about you stay back and perhaps take the opportunity to meet some of the diplomats?"

Yuri's eyes widened with surprise at her mother's suggestion. The prospect of mingling with diplomats and representatives from across the sector was undoubtedly enticing, offering a chance to broaden her horizons and forge new connections beyond the confines of their military duties. She nodded eagerly, a spark of excitement igniting within her.

"Sure, Mom," Yuri replied, her voice tinged with anticipation. "I'd love to explore and maybe make some new acquaintances. Thanks for the opportunity."

Yayoi offered her daughter a reassuring smile, her maternal instincts guiding her decision. She knew that allowing Yuri to immerse herself in such experiences was essential for her personal growth and development as a member of the crew. With a nod of approval, Yayoi watched as Yuri set off, her youthful enthusiasm propelling her towards the bustling heart of the conference venue.

As Yayoi resumed her own journey towards the Kakushi Nekoba, she couldn't help but feel a swell of pride for her daughter's adventurous spirit. In allowing Yuri the freedom to explore and interact with others, she was not only fostering her independence but also laying the foundation for a future filled with endless possibilities. And as she disappeared into the crowd, Yayoi couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the adventures that lay ahead for both herself and her daughter.

Yuri's heart danced with joy as her mother granted her permission to mingle and meet new people at the conference. The prospect of exploring the vibrant tapestry of cultures and personalities assembled there filled her with an exhilarating sense of anticipation. With a skip in her step, Yuri eagerly ventured forth, her eyes alight with the possibility of forming new friendships and connections.

However, amidst the sea of unfamiliar faces, Yuri's keen gaze suddenly fell upon a figure that sparked instant recognition—a familiar face amidst the crowd. A burst of excitement surged through her as she spotted Aeyla, her Norian friend, weaving her way through the bustling throng of diplomats and delegates. Without a moment's hesitation, Yuri's smile widened into a radiant beam as she bounded forward, propelled by sheer enthusiasm.

"Aeyla!" Yuri exclaimed, unable to contain her delight as she closed the distance between them in a flurry of motion. With a joyful squeal, she threw herself into Aeyla's path, her arms outstretched in anticipation of the warm embrace that awaited her.

"Hiii!" she chirped, her voice bubbling with unrestrained happiness as she finally came face to face with her dear friend. The sheer joy of their unexpected reunion washed over Yuri like a wave, igniting a sense of warmth and familiarity that transcended the bustling chaos of the conference surroundings.

Runa/The devil on a shoulder

Runa, a diminutive figure at only 7.9 inches tall, perched herself atop her captain's shoulders as they strolled through Reikan Park. From her elevated vantage point, she surveyed the tranquil surroundings with awe. The verdant greenery, colorful blooms, and winding paths of the park all contributed to its serene beauty. For Runa, it was a reminiscent scene, evoking memories of her childhood days spent frolicking in parks much like this one, where mischief was a common companion.

However, amidst the nostalgia, there was a pang of frustration. Rules dictated that she couldn't carry her trusty sword, nor any other weapons, and certainly not her beloved Drake, Exyrus, whose powerful wings she often rode upon while traversing the vast expanse of their starship. It was a regulation she begrudgingly adhered to, but not without a small act of defiance – riding on her captain's shoulders, a subtle rebellion against the constraints imposed upon her.

As they moved through the park, Runa couldn't help but think of her fellow crew members aboard the Wakaba, their starship. They were currently engaged in escorting a diplomat, a task of utmost importance. Runa's thoughts briefly shifted to her comrades, wondering how they were faring on their mission, even as she enjoyed this moment of respite in the park.

> Aiko, Boss, William, and Gaelan

Having been in the Ketsurui's shadow for most of the talk, Boss needed to step to the side and forward to properly greet the Nepleslian Sky Marshal. Rather than bow, she presented her hand to shake his with, only it was her left hand instead of her right that she put forth.

"If your ship's name is "Southpaw" shouldn't we shake with what the Nepleslians refer to as their own southpaw, or left hand?" Boss said exuberantly as she thrust her hand into his. Truly intrigued by the way Nepleslian AI (or any non-Yamataian AI operated, for that matter) Boss looked delighted at the prospect of conversing with a new one, her smile reached her orange-hued eyes as she looked happily to the much taller man.

"It is an honor to meet the father of my longest term civilian occupant, Sky Marshal, and the leader to the people he fights for. If I were to ever have a chance to sit down with your Advanced Command Executive AI on your Shaika, I would surely upload a treasure trove of battle footage for you to review in which your son proved himself not only excellent in battle, but in spirit as well—something I have learned a lot about during my time as a ship MEGAMI for a crew such as mine."

The Separa'Shan senator smiled broadly at Alice as Senator Yokota arrived, "It is a pleasure to meet you here Ambassador Sursilvan. Let me introduce Legate Malarch of the Elysian Celestial Empire, Senator Natus of Shurista, Senator Tamafune of Fujiko. Lastly, but certainly not least is Ambassador Havard of Yamatai."

"I think we all may have need of your company's skills in one way or another. I know that Essia is still growing our mining base so that we can support larger construction efforts that Apollo is conducting. We may need to speak about obtaining raw materiel from you and perhaps expanding your presence in Essia."

With a (genuinely, of course; she, unlike much of the Bellflower Party in her personal opinion, hadn’t fallen to that level of politician!) friendly expression and smile adorning her features, Karael acknowledged each of the newcomers with a nod and slight bow. “Greetings and salutations, everyone. To answer your earlier question, Senator Volotany, Elysia is still unfortunately choked by political infighting in our Senate, which has resorted in an effective halt to any new legislation save for a few critically-important exceptions like the ECS Panopteles - and even it very nearly fell victim to the same gridlock that has killed so many other legislative topics. And speaking of which…” - a pause as the Patrician turned her attention to Yokota - “…you have my sincerest condolences for what happened during the debate of Proposal 123, Senator Tamafune. Nobody should have to experience you were subjected to - especially by that hack Yusuke - and I one day hope to introduce legislation that will make such outrageously rude antics a thing of the past. Also, you have nothing to apologize for, Senator Shretas…” - the Legate was addressing the Shuristan representative, now - “…as even were your grand nation to approach mine with an treaty of trade and friendship, I can all but guarantee that my incompetent colleagues in the Elysian Senate would spend a decade debating the topic, fail to arrive at a decision, and place the offer back in queue for another decade. Truth be told,” finished the Elysian with a sigh, “there’s times when I wish that we didn’t have a Senate, or at least had a central figure of authority like the Emperor… but then I remind myself how well that turned out…

* * *

Though he was no stranger to political functions - he was the firstborn son of a Senator, after all - Machariel had still never really been a fan of them, as he’d always been forced to stay in his father’s shadow; hell, only the fact that he had nowhere else to really go (after the savage verbal lashing he’d recently received at the hands of said father for failing the very important secret mission he’d been assigned, there was no way in hell the young Patrician was willingly returning to Elysia any time soon) kept him at the park and not at, say, a gym or something.

The Patrician thus sullenly stood against one of the main conference hall’s titanic halls, idly scanning the crowd as he sipped on some overly-sweet drink…

Reikan Park, Yamatai
YSS Wakaba - Syhani

The International Relations Conference was undoubtedly one of the largest gatherings Syhani had attended in quite some time. In fact if it were not for her role as a crew member of the YSS Wakaba she probably would not have even been at Reikan Park. She was quite introverted and preferred much smaller, more intimate gatherings with people close to her. This was the polar opposite of anything in her comfort zone, but she would only outwardly exude professional composure as she stuck close to fellow crew members. As she walked behind her captain her pale brown eyes fell to the miniature Nekovalkyrja perched atop his shoulder. Syhani did not know much about Runa, though that little display of defiance at an occasion like this made her curious as to what made the Itto Hei tick.

Aelya's serious expression turned to one of pure joy as soon her she laid her eyes on Yuri. Through vesper she conveyed to her daughter Ihari and shadowguard Vulre that Yuri was someone safe to approach. Not only was Yuri someone who was safe to approach them, she was one of Aelya's best friends. Ihari and Vulre acknowledge their Aester's message through vesper as the interaction continued. "Yuri!" Aelya exclaimed happily wrapping her arms tightly around Yuri in a close embrace. "I missed you! How have you been?" she inquired after releasing her dear friend. The redhead's ruby eyes gave Yuri a brief once over to make sure that nothing had befallen her friend since they had last spoke.

"Oh!" Aelya exclaimed. "Before we get separated again, there is something I have been meaning to send you! Where would be a good place to have a small present delivered?" she inquired with a mischievous grin. Yuri had taken the time to learn Nira'las, Aelya's native language and it meant the world to the redheaded spitfire. In turn she had planned what she hoped would be a symbol of her gratitude for the loving friendship Yuri had shown her.

Anisa Senator

A bright smile graced Ema's features as she acknowledged each of the senators present. It was certainly an interesting listening experience as she learned about how much each representative cared for the wellbeing and prosperity of their respective peoples. With a thoughtful and attentive look upon her face she took a few moments to fully digest everything that she had heard. Naturally, she took everything said with a grain of salt having just met the parties involved. In fact she had yet to form a solidified opinion one way or another on each of them. However, in her position personal opinions did not matter much as she was here to represent those who had voted for her. Though this discourse did yield a certain level of understanding as to the puzzle that she may encounter throughout the course of her work.

In a break from the normal day to day grind, the YSS Koun had come into port. The main reason for being there was simple, to give the crew a chance to be a part of these high level events. While being a battle hardened solder was expected, being able to navigate the political landscape could at times be even more dangerous than the enemy. Star Army demanded perfection and those not able to tow the line would be cast to the shadows. This is why Alastair expected only the best of his crew, for he knew the high stakes in play otherwise.

Alastair walked in front of those in his command that stood at attention. "As many of you know, we are here to blend into the crowd. It is not our place to draw attention. However do not be afraid to approach a delegation. Do so with respect and kindness. Remember, those of higher ranks like to be seen with those of lower ranks for the news photos. Be sure given the chance to step forth and greet them with the highest respect. Bow, give name, rank and ship assignment. Be sure to be clear with all spoken words. It must be perfectly stated as to leave a positive impression. I want everyone leaving this place to remember the Koun. The pride of Star Army and the reason many of these nations are safe." He then paused and looked a solder over from head to toe. He then reached forward and adjusted his shirt collar slightly. "Most important, have fun and relax. This place has enough security that only a fool would attack. You are in safe hand. So go forth and dismissed."

Alastair stepped to the side and saluted each of his fine crew as they passed by heading towards the event. The orders of the crew were straight forward, his reason however for being there was more complicated. For he had been asked to come and greet his old man. Alastair felt uneasy about it but also knew it would look completely out of place for a member of Star Army not to come at the request of a delegation. Though it was not official, it was no mystery that Maverick was gearing up to become a Senator. A first for the Belmont clan and a step forward within the political landscape of Yamati.

Alastair was last off the ship along side his second half, Sayako. He felt it would be wise to keep her close to ad when needed to handle anything to do with his family. The two of them waited at the assigned dock for the fun to arrive. Right on time a large fleet ship cruised into place. The large ship doors open and a larger than life man, ducking to clear his head stepped forward. "Alastair, son it is so good to see you. I see you brought your girl friend along to greet me." He called out as he embraced Alastair in a big hug. "Daaaad, I am on duty, put me down." Alastair cried out. "Oh, you Star Army with being proper, we are family." He said putting him back on his feet. "And my gosh do you look amazing as always Sayako." The giant of a man then did a bow towards her. "And no doubt you are keeping this man in check. Though if his mother had her way, he'd be giving her some grand babies already." The big ID-SOL said with a wink towards Sayako. "Daaaad, gawd, can't you be serious for even one moment. She is my crew. For the love of the empress." He called out as he worked to fix his uniform. "Oh Son, why so serious. Can't a father look forward to some grand kids. Fine fine, let us proceed with the show." Maverick then took a step back and gave a bow towards Alastair. "Sir, if you would please escort me into the event. I am ready to mingle with those who might be in support of my push towards senate."

And with that the three of them stepped forward towards the destiny that awaited.

Alice Mining Guild Ambassador

As Alice listened attentively to Senator Aslen's introduction, she nodded politely to each of the individuals mentioned, committing their names and affiliations to memory. She reciprocated the senator's smile warmly before responding. "Thank you, Senator Volontany. It's a pleasure to meet all of you," Alice said, her tone diplomatic and amicable. "Indeed, as Ambassador of The Mining Guild, we are committed to fostering strong partnerships and collaborations within the galactic community. We understand the importance of reliable access to raw materials, especially in supporting ambitious construction projects like those undertaken by Apollo," Alice continued, addressing the group

She paused briefly, considering the senator's mention of expanding the Guild's presence in Essia. "We would be more than willing to discuss potential arrangements for supplying raw materials to Essia. Our corporation prides itself on efficient extraction and distribution processes, and we are always open to exploring opportunities for expansion and mutual benefit," she added, her tone reflecting both professionalism and openness to negotiation."

Alice glanced around the gathering, noting the diversity of representatives present. "It seems we have a multitude of potential avenues for cooperation. I look forward to exploring these further in the near future."

As Alice engaged in the diplomatic exchange, she couldn't help but consider the political intricacies involved in expanding the Mining Guild's presence in Essia, particularly within the context of the Yamatai Star Empire. Aware of the necessity of securing sponsors or allies within the Empire, Alice recognized the potential significance of Senator Aslen's acquaintance with the Mining Guild.

Knowing that the Mining Guild operated outside the jurisdiction of the Yamatai Star Empire, Alice understood the importance of aligning with influential entities within the Empire to navigate the complexities of local regulations, cultural sensitivities, and potential competition.

Among the potential allies, Alice harbored a particular hope for support from the Motoyoshi Clan and the Yugumo Corporation. The Motoyoshi Clan's reputation for strategic alliances and their deep-rooted connections within the Empire made them a coveted partner for corporations seeking to establish or expand their operations in Yamatai-controlled territories. Additionally, the Yugumo Corporation's extensive reach and expertise in various industries, including mining and resource management, presented an opportunity for synergistic collaboration.

Alice recognized that securing the backing of these influential entities would not only provide the Mining Guild with credibility and legitimacy within the Yamatai Star Empire but also afford them access to valuable resources, networks, and insights crucial for navigating the intricate political landscape.

As the conversation continued, Alice subtly considered how best to broach the subject of sponsorship or alliance with Senator Aslen, mindful of the delicate balance between diplomacy and business interests. She resolved to approach the matter with tact and finesse, leveraging the senator's familiarity with the Mining Guild to lay the groundwork for future collaboration with the Motoyoshi Clan and the Yugumo Corporation.

As Alice turned her attention to the Winged Patrician Karael and observed the shift in her demeanor, from the warmth of the earlier introductions to a more somber expression, she couldn't help but sense an underlying tension. Karael's frown hinted at a deeper dissatisfaction or concern, perhaps related to the political landscape or the specific challenges faced by corporations like the Mining Guild.

Noting Karael's apparent skepticism or disapproval, Alice maintained her composure, offering a sympathetic response. "I am saddened to hear of the possible difficulties you have observed," she said, her tone genuine and empathetic. Alice understood the importance of acknowledging concerns and addressing them diplomatically, especially in a setting where perceptions and relationships held significant weight.

As the representative of the Mining Guild, Alice was accustomed to encountering skepticism or resistance in various territories, particularly where political dynamics or vested interests came into play. However, she remained committed to fostering constructive dialogue and finding common ground, even in the face of adversity.

While Karael's demeanor hinted at potential obstacles in Elysia, Alice remained open to understanding the root causes and exploring possible solutions. She recognized the value of engaging with diverse perspectives, even those that might initially seem challenging or contradictory.

With a respectful nod to Karael, Alice signaled her willingness to delve deeper into the concerns raised, seeking to uncover underlying motivations and perspectives that could inform future negotiations or strategic decisions. In doing so, she hoped to foster a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics at play and pave the way for productive collaboration, despite any initial hurdles or reservations.

Alice looked towards Khelas, though taking note of their appearance, but unaware they were Senti like others the Mining Guild have encountered.

Yuri
Yuri's heart swelled with warmth as she saw Aelya's joyful expression. It had been too long since they last met, and Yuri couldn't help but return the embrace with equal enthusiasm. "I've missed you too! I've been… well, thank you. How about you? You look radiant as ever." Yuri tried to mask it, but her first away mission hadnt gone quite well, and there was a sign of something there, but she tried not to let it show. As Aelya mentioned a small present, Yuri's curiosity piqued. She smiled at her friend's mischievous grin, knowing that whatever Aelya had in mind would be heartfelt and thoughtful.

"A small present?" Yuri repeated, her curiosity growing. "Oh, I'd love that! You're too kind, Aelya. Anywhere would be fine for the delivery, really. Perhaps to my home would be best. its an Apartment, above the Kakushi Nekoba"

Yuri's proficiency in Nira'las had been a labor of love, and she was deeply touched by Aelya's effort to connect with her in her native tongue. It was a testament to the strength of their friendship, one that Yuri cherished dearly.

"Thank you, Aelya," Yuri said sincerely, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Your friendship means everything to me. I can't wait to see what you've prepared. Which reminds me, I have something for you as well!" She said. “When we first met, it was my first time, participating in Hanami Festival, My cousin had arrived gifts for me and a friend of ours, Since I thought it was yours I asked my mother to help get another. Infact..” she said reaching into her pocket of her uniform, and lifted out. The Cherry Blossom Necklace

Koun crew

The instant Aliset was off the ship and watching the scene of her captain bear hugged by his father, Aliset narrowed her eyes. "Welp. Sacre, I'm getting food. Captain, you're on your own."

With that, she started singing, her voice powerful and carrying far as she unleashed the first few bars of a Nepleslian Marine Corps song like a clarion call, switching notes in that birdlike way a musical and dense language like Shuristan taught as easily as breathing. If she was right, the return of the next few bars would summon her, marking the position of people she could trust to get her into the right kind of trouble. Then again, it was also meant to trigger every NSMC veteran within five hundred yards like catching a toon with "Shave and a Haircut."

Spark's brows furrowed at Aliset's antics, her dress uniform worn proudly before she double checked that Ancilla's own body and its Duskerian dress uniform was as well pressed as her own, and that as her power armor's AI since the beginning, any and all of Spark's medals were to be worn with the same measure of valor and pride. "We gotta get you some rank pips, little one. I wonder who the Duskerians sent."

Shretas

"Thank you for your refreshing description of the Shuristan Councils as your own Senate, Legate. It is a sad state to see a nation in. Miss Alice, I've heard many things of the Mining Guild from friends and family in the Sutsuran miner's union. I'm glad such a powerful guild with such prestige and prosperity has grown in such a short time. Please make your teams aware of Shuristan shipping laws, and I'll personally ensure a cargo route to your territory. This will help you move your cargo through the Yamataian border to Moyotoshi and Yugumo customers with far greater ease, and more, help us reinforce the Council of Shuristan Shipbuilders as a potentially powerful supplier of raw materials and manpower to Ketsuri Fleetworks." Shretas gave a soft bow to Alice. "And Volontany, I have learned many tricks. The fact that you're the one teaching me is an irony not lost on me."

The United Norian Imperium Delegation

Nira approached the Tselan delegation briskly and made a direct course for Aelya. The blue-haired Norian leader looked at the Tsenlanese Aester with an almost judgemental gaze. He couldn't help but notice the presence of Vulre, a member of the infamous Shadowguard Amellaius - perhaps that was a common point that could be utilized later, his mind surged with thoughts of possibilities and circumstances. "Representative Aelya, a pleasure to see you all grown up my niece," he said with a slight tip forward of his head in respectful acknowledgment, even though that word 'representative' was as well placed as a missile. It was more of an evaluation if anything, if she truly believed she had that promised blessings of the celestial mandate that would have been the time then and there for her to correct him.

The Jol'Aestaesys turned slightly and gestured a noticeably gloved hand toward Aynu, "This is special diplomat Aynu Veltaeus," he introduced the triple-pointed eared female, who gave a noticeable smile as she offered an open-handed cross-chested salute that was as traditional as the glyph-work tattooed upon her visible digits as she laid them against her shoulder, that ever familiar regal stance defined by a certainly enigmatic air with how she stuck out from the rest of his accompanying delegation. He then swiveled slightly and motioned to Lynira, "...and last but surely not least, Imperial Diplomatic Advisor Lynira Aucari who I believe was formerly part of my nephew's entourage." It was logical for him to seek out the Tsenlanese first, undoubtedly he was going to need to draw a few lines between them during the proceedings to accent the operational and shifting cultural differences between them now.

There were personal topics that would need to be covered at some juncture, the question was when. He needed to explain to Aelya what had happened to her brother and what had been a shakedown within the imperial ranks. He would let the conversation direct it until she either provided an opening or he would create one, for now, the formal nonsense of introductions and pretty boxed emotions would be given. He was unfamiliar with the other delegations, and even when it came to Yamatai it had always been Adrin or Tetsuya to deal with them, it was uncomfortable for him to feel like a fish out of water. He clung on to the peaceful thoughts of his distant little bird, it kept him centered and balanced.

Hanako, Yamatai's Imperial Premier, well-known for her career as a Star Army starship captain, explorer, and later as Director of Star Army Personnel, arrived at the International Relations Conference wearing a gorgeous cherry blossom themed Kimono. She had long wavy aquamarine hair that grew more purple at the ends, and huge golden-hued eyes. After a few moments to give the press people their photos, she began to go around to start to meet and greet the other leaders and diplomats that had come to Yamatai to negotiate deals and plan for the Kikyo Sector's successful future.

"Sky Marshall," she greeted Sanders. "Thank you for coming. I think with the galaxy opening up, the shared brother and sister relationship between Nepleslia and Yamatai is more important than ever. The Yamataian Government and the Star Army will be sharing our discoveries with Nepleslia and giving Nepleslia full access to the new sectors we have recently discovered. Having Nepleslia as allies in the Third Mishhuvurthyar gives me great confidence in victory and I appreciate you. If the Nepleslian military needs assistance, Yamatai is there to help you with logistical, administrative, and plenty of exchange soldiers. We're all in to win this war shoulder to shoulder with you."

Conference Center
> Aiko, Boss, William, Gaelan, and Hanako

Gaelan was about to explain to Boss that the Southpaw techincally wasn't his ship when the Premier of Yamatai arrived. "Premier Hanako, it is a pleasure." He said, his steel grey prosthetics returning her golden eyed gaze. "I agree with your assessment. You mention Yamatai and Nepleslia's brother sister relationship." He turned to Aiko and William, the later of which involuntarily straighted under the gaze of not one but two heads of state. "They set a precedent, I believe, of what we can acomplish if we work together. I have plans to allocate their group more support, but we can discuss those details at a later date."

Gaelan turned back to Hanako. "I'll make sure that a briefing is prepared with our own findings. Open communication about our discoveries can only prove more beneficial."

Aiko maintained a cheery smile when Hanako walked up and introduced herself to the Nepleslian premier. The younger Ketsurui was happy that Yamatai's government could meet amicably with Nepleslia's in contrast to the tumultuous earlier years she'd read about in histories of the sector. An involuntary touch of scarlet filled her cheeks when Gaelan paid her and William his compliment.

"The Sky Marshal has been instrumental in deepening cooperation between our great nations," Aiko said once the two leaders traded their introductions. She looked from Hanako to Gaelan and back to the Yamataian Premier while she spoke. "From sending more than half of Nepleslia's naval complement to Glimmergold to his son's soldiers serving alongside us in Task Force 282 through the Kuvexian War until today, Gaelan has offered determined friendship to Yamatai. I hope you will learn to trust his strength as well as I have, Hanako-sama."

She then stepped back to allow Hanako and Gaelan some space and looked up to William beside her, still grinning.

"With this mission accomplished, how fares security?" she asked her friend telepathically, already knowing all was well under the watch of her legionary and his ID-SOL soldiers. "Perhaps there is something we should attend to so your father can continue with Hanako and meet other dignitaries."

Yokota merely rose her hand up as a sign to perish the thought when Karael had mentioned the senate business in regards to Proposal #123. Yokota prefered to keep such things in the past and learn from them. And the chaotic mess are truly an illuminating experience for her. She was going to make a response Karael's comments, bu the Patrician looked like she had more to say, so she did not interrupt her.

"I appreciate the support Senator, but I like to keep such things in the past. Helps me continue to be clear minded going forward with the new data gathered from the event." Yokota said, finally seeing an opportunity to speak. She briefly looked in Sun Horatio's direction when he entered her field of view at a distance, but she quickly focused again on the group before her. She was going to need to figure an opportunity to address some member of the Nepleslian delegation without forcing it.

----

Sun Horatio non-chalantly walked around the perimeter of the Great Hall after paying a visit to the bar. The large man in the sharp maroon business suit did little to try to blend in, his massive size would have prevented that from happening. He had two general goals for the event: Play along with Senator Yokota's hope of starting a process of reconciliation with the Greens and seeing where all the connections in the higher echelons of the elite within the sector. The first goal he just laughed at for 10 solid minutes when the dear Senator proposed her idea in his office months ago. When he saw the seriousness in her face, he knew that he was not going to dissude her of the impossible task she had set out for herself.

"Senator Yokota might be more trouble for the FDC then she is worth..." Sun Horatio thought to himself from laughing again when the thought of her recent failures in the Imperial Senate came to him. A public recording of her leaving the Senate chamber as part of a news report came up into his augmented vision as he looked in her direction, it wouldn't take much to get support (many Reds were not crazy about the idea of a senator) for a snap election to boot her into a position more manageable for him to control as head of the Fujiko Trade and Cultural Exchange Office. He then closed the news report and looked elsewhere in the reception party. Plotting was always a tiresome business and he really didn't want to wear himself out just yet.

He glances over at the Green ID-SOL monkeys that really felt out of place for a Yamataian facility, but felt oddly familiar to him if he replaced the Yamataian Star Empire with an older name resurfacing again; there really was no one of interest to talk to at the moment. Since they had not even acknowledge that he even existed, be decided to keep his distance from them for the time being. That is when his eyes finally saw the patrician sullenly standing by one of the walls that just happened to be on his "patrol path".

"I thought Patricians were supposed to be a lively bunch?" Horatio said as he continued walking. His body language said he would stop if the Machariel cares to respond back, but there is also signs Horatio just meant it in passing.

Ambassador Sursilvan nodded graciously, acknowledging Governor Shretas' remarks with a warm smile. "Indeed, Governor Shretas," she began, her voice carrying the confidence of one well-versed in diplomatic exchanges, "the Mining Guild is deeply honored by your support and your willingness to collaborate. We recognize the immense potential for mutually beneficial arrangements between our esteemed organizations."

Her gaze shifted momentarily, her eyes alight with a subtle gleam of anticipation, as she added, "Rest assured, our teams will be thoroughly briefed on Shuristan shipping laws, and we will spare no effort in ensuring full compliance with all regulations." Sursilvan paused, allowing her words to sink in before continuing, her ears flicking with a barely contained excitement at the prospect of expanding business ties with the Senti people and forging new partnerships with entities such as the Apolo Corporation.

"We are eager to explore the opportunities that lie ahead," she concluded, her tone a perfect blend of professionalism and optimism, "and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration that benefits all parties involved."

As Alice turned, her keen eyes scanned the room until they settled on a figure approaching with purposeful strides. Her heart skipped a beat as she recognized the distinguished silhouette of the Imperial Premier, Hanako, a figure of immense influence within the corridors of power. A surge of anticipation coursed through Alice's veins. Here was a rare opportunity, one she had hoped for but scarcely dared to imagine: the chance to engage in conversation with the very person whose word could shape the fate of the Mining Guild's ambitions within the Yamatai Star Empire.

With practiced composure, Alice turned to the men, and female Elysian representative, "I do believe, i see the Imperial Premier, I'd like a chance to speak to her, so i shall leave you all, to discuss things, though i and the Mining Guild are hoping our talks we have begun, can continue." She said as she bid fairwell, before she stepped forward, her posture poised and her expression a mask of respectful eagerness.

After some enjoyable talks with the Sky Marshal of Nepleslia, Premier Hanako of Yamatai went to speak with other nations' leaders or representatives.

While the leaders chatted, waiters passed out small cups of Ice Queen Mountains sake and glasses of Chateau Hanako wine to anyone who wanted a taste of Yamatai's fine products.

Alice Sursilvan, the Mining Guild's Diplomatic ambassador, made her approach, while accepting wine, for the occasion. She had heard of Sake before, but she preferred wine, instead. On Hanako's acknowledgement, Alice greeted her with a respectful bow, her voice steady despite the flutter of excitement within her chest. "Imperial Premier Hanako-sama," she began, her tone a careful blend of deference and confidence, "it is an honor to finally meet you. I have long hoped for the opportunity to discuss the future of the Mining Guild within the Yamatai Star Empire."

"You must be Ambassador Sursilvan. I am pleased to meet you. I have heard about the Mining Guild and its wonders of resource collection and its cooperation with the Star Army of Yamatai and Motoyoshi businesses in exploring new sectors," Hanako told Alice. "These are great works that have opened the door for a successful future within Yamatai. I look forward to it. If there's anything I can do to help the Mining Guild, you need only ask."

Alice smiled politely as Hanako greeted her, and her words especially how it appears the Mining Guild might actually be welcomed in Yamatai star Empire. "indeed, the Mining Guild has done business with Yugumo Corporation, and because of this, and our relationships the Mining Guild was invited to a possible opportunity, in the Kosuke Sector, I have utmost confidence, in the Contingent Leader Firewalkers, capable leadership. In addition to her continued strengthening of relationships. We, I am honored by your words, the Mining Guild, first will need a home, a System that it can work in, once we have that, we can work on our Home Station." Alice Said, to Hanako with a graceful smile.

"I do hope that the Mining Guild can continue to show your honorable Empire, that it can work with others in collaboration. As a matter of fact, Senator of Essia, has already expressed interest in us working with their Apollo Heavy Industries." Alice added.

"If it's a home you need, I will ensure we provide one you will love, whether that is in the Kikyo Sector or somewhere in the new frontiers. And the Star Army will provide protection," Hanako nodded. "Please stay in touch and feel free to contact me if you should need anything. I am sure we can continue to engage in mutually beneficial exchanges."

Alice could only smile as Hanako agreed to help her find a home, not only in Yamatai star Empire, in the Kikyo sector but somewhere in the new frontiers. She knew this will only help, the Mining Guild and the Contingent as well. Alice bows to Hanako. "thank you Imperial Premier, Hanako-sama, I look forward to our next communication." She said in a pleasant and respectful tone of voice, that bellies her excitement. She steps aside, and begins moving once her conversation was finished. Toidorno's appearance was caught as was her interest, but she didnt want to take any more time from Hanako. She hoped they could chat later.

Toidorno, his instinct to behave stealthily even in a political situation, desired an opportunity to observe these other diplomats. He found an opportunity to create dull conversation with someone long-winded, who could talk and talk and talk while Toidorno listened to something else entirely... Notably, to the conversation between the Imperial Premier and somone he didn't yet recognize. He kept his ears trained forward on his living conversational 'tool', knowing that an observant watcher might notice if his ears were pointed toward someone else.

Next, Hanako made her way to Toidorno, "Greetings, Ambassador of the Hidden Sun Clan. Yamatai welcomes you to the conference. The Hidden Sun Clan and the Yamatai Star Empire have had a special relationship ever since we defeated the Mishhuvurthyar and created the settlements that ended the long travels of the clan. And in Yamatai's times of need in the Kuvexian War, you have repaid us with support and we are grateful. Tell me what Yamatai can do to be the best ally you could ask for."

Toidorno's talkative conversation partner swiftly 'took the hint' as Hanako approached, and politely fled the scene, leaving the Qaktoro alone. Toidorno was glad to have been addressed formally by his title, and he bowed to her in greeting, given that hers was certainly the higher 'rank' between the two of them. "I thank you for your words, Premier Hanako. Ambassador Tesgi wishes me to express his... regret for... being unable to attend." Tesgi was, of course, the previous Ambassador to Yamatai. Tesgi's temporarily inability to perform his duties was the reason for Toidorno assuming the position.

"Ah yes, please give him my best wishes," Hanako said.

The Qaktoro nodded. But the Premier had asked a form of a question, hadn't she? What could Yamatai do to be the best ally... "In answer to your query, Premier, there are some among the Clan who wish to explore the deepening of the relationship between our..." He paused, trying to think of the word. Not 'Clans'. Empires? No, the Hidden Sun Clan was no Empire. "Between our 'Groups'." he decided to say. "That is, to join you more formally. It is a line of thought that has gained... many voices in the last decade of our alliance." He paused, curious to see what this Premier would say.

"The Hidden Sun Clan is more than welcome, and should the clan request to join Yamatai, we would accept with gratitude. I envision the Hidden Sun Clan's long history of travel and exploration would make the Qaktoro, Tula, and Free Nekovalkyrja some of Yamatai's finest explorers as we expand into new sectors hand in hand, while Yamatai's technology and military strength ensures a strong and secure future whereever we choose to go. No matter what, we will always be your ally and friend. I have nothing but love for your people."

Toidorno allowed himself a brief breath of relief. The Hidden Sun Clan had an ancient and paniful history when it came to alliances, for it had been an alliance with other nations that had led to the destruction of their old empire, and to the near-eradication of their races. The original alliance with Yamatai had not come without much serious discussion... "Your alliance and friendship has brought us battles, and salvage. And you have not... left us, to fight alone. Nor, we hope, have we to you." he replied carefully. "May I ask... would you foresee... challenges in joining us together, given the... distance between our systems?"

"Not at all," Hanako said. "The Hidden Sun Clan's systems are essentially our neighbors already, and our ships can reach each other in hours. Thankfully, most of our challenges and threats are external these days, with the discovery of hostile forces in other sectors in the form of rampant robots, militaristic Mishhuvurthyar, insatisiable insectoids, and so forth. It is my belief that we meet these challenges as a united Kikyo Sector and I have expressed the same to Nepleslia. I feel like this is finally a time where we can come together."

Taisho Fletcher stood nearby, "If you would like a detailed discussion of how we can overcome those challanges, I would be happy to discuss them with you or anyone else from your goverment." He added.

Toidorno, listening to the Premier, also politely recognized the presence of the Admiral. "Taisho." he said in greeting. This was no small thing, these assurance of the premier, and one of her highest-ranking warrior-leaders. He also found himself quite impressed with the alliteration Hanako used; he admitted to having a fondness for that amusing speaking technique. "I will ensure that... this message of shared interest is expressed to my Council, and to the people of the Clan." he assured them both.

Hanako gave Toidorno a respectful bow, "If there is anything you or your clan need, you are always welcome to contact me. Let's stay in touch, Ambassador Toidorno."

He returned her bow, and nodded in agreement, knowing that she had others that were surely desirous of her attention and political savvy.

Noticing the Ketsurui disbanding from Gaelan Sanders and Sammy Rainchill, Sachiko went over to Aiko. The light of the day caught the red and white beadwork of the elf's long, gossamer gown that was fitted perfectly to her tall figure. The spiderwebs of strings pearls and ruby-like beads were strung about her body so that they created an interconnected ombre effect with the dark crimson being closest to the ground while her bodice contained only pale white embroideries. Her silvery hair was held off of her bare shoulders and pinned with a comb that contained the same red jewels as the bottom of her gown, though in much less volume as below.

"I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting the daughter of the Mistress Taisho of Yamatai," Sachiko said, unfolding her hands from in front of her elegantly beaded dress' torso to extend one outward towards Ketsurui Aiko, albeit limply if she expected to shake hands. "At least not her direct kin. I am Sachiko of Xiuluria, diplomatic advisor to my council as well as Senator of Yamatai's Elven Suzerainty."

Aiko blinked in surprise at first, immediately thinking to direct this elfin dignitary toward Hanako. But the Xiulurian soon said more and introduced herself to reveal that she was a colleague of sorts—another diplomat there to represent Yamataian interests instead of a foreigner there to meet Yamatai's premier. So Aiko maintained her pleasant diplomatic visage, only broken for that split second of confusion, and extended her right hand back out to meet Sachiko's.

The elven senator placed a delicate kiss upon the stormy-colored glove atop Aiko's fingers. Sachiko had closed her eyes, but straightened and fixed her gaze on the raven-haired Ketsurui to listen to her speak.

"It seems you already know me, Sachiko-san," Aiko said, adding a courteous bow once she'd received and pulled back from the Senator's gesture. "Your people have honored me during past travels, so the pleasure in this meeting is very much mine. Tell me how Xiuluria has prospered since my last visit."

"Yes, you met with Leona Rifte, did you not?" Sachiko murmured with some amusement lighting up her opalescent eyes. "I haven't seen her filled with such vivaciousness in a good century. I think she's jealous of you and your epic battles that you'. Many are in Xiuluria. A proud people, once, now relegated to wittling wood and brewing potions. Without a vessel for their passions, the elven desires find an apt, but temporary, home in the overflowing excitement Yamataian warriors provide."

"Xiuluria fights beside the Star Army to this day, Sachiko," Aiko returned, affirming the place of Yamatai's native elves in battle. She was unbashful to hear such praise of her skill in combat for it was her purpose, but still wanted to give Xiulurians their due credit. "Be they my fellow soldiers in combat or the crafted wonders made by your artisans that shield our ships from detection, your people stand with this warrior when she takes to the field. Leona-san's alchemical gifts have helped me and my fellows personally in our most dire moments."

"Oh, is this so?" Sachiko asked and her fingers seemed to tighten around one another as her grey eyes pushed into her eyes. "Have you utilized the weapon she and Flicka Wondu bequethed you?"

"The mysteries contained within those treasures Leona granted to William Sanders and I have only materialized for him," Aiko explained, recalling the moment his luminous potion assisted them during their imprisonment in Kuveixa. The princess looked over to her Nepleslian friend, who'd stepped away to deal with another matter likely related to overseeing his ID-SOL honor guard who helped protect the conference. "For now, my own Xiulurian heirloom retains its splendor until the day its usefulness is revealed."

"That is interesting. I do wish to speak with him, then, perhaps..." Sachiko's eyes drifted from Aiko to the throngs of people, then back to the Ketsurui. Sachiko's decorum and effortless grace had momentarily been swept aside as she seemed to be readying to leave the IRC host's side without a goodbye as her eyes went back to the crowd. With a hand to her head, though, she turned back to Aiko and took her hands in her own, this time without the same kiss but a gentle bow of her body before release.

"I've lost all manners after hearing of this, I do apologize. There isn't much my people have, but the connection to our Old Gods, the Avatars, is enough to make any Xiulurian lose their composure. You have my deepest gratitude in revealing this news to me; it was expected to take much more time than this. Surely yours will be imparted in no great length of time as his has."

"I am at somewhat of a loss as to what I have revealed to you about your Avatars, Senator Sachiko," Aiko admitted in a straightforward tone. She was accustomed to Xiulurian riddles so would not question them further. "Nonetheless, I am glad to have your gratitude. That aside, is there anything you require at the conference? A diplomat of your stature must not need my help in facilitating talks, but I stand in Yamatai's service and yours for this conference."

"To give a young elf so much to look forward to is no small feat," Sachiko said, patting her own hands against one another. "No, no, you've done enough by informing me of what the Avatars are aware of; namely the Nepleslian prince. I should find him...

"There's a little bit of them in everything we do." Sachiko continued. "The elves received their magic from them, after all. When they left, so did the full extent of our abilities. But with them they took a connection. One that is always left open." She curtsied and left Aiko's presence.

Separately, Toidorno took the opportunity to approach the OTHER furred, eared and fanged individual nearby, the being who had been speaking to Hanako a moment ago. He was uncertain of her species, though he was sure she wasn't related to the Qaktoro or the Tula of the Clan. He moved within her field of view and came to within a respectful distance. "Pardon me, may I introduce myself?" he asked in Yamataigo.

Alice watched as the Qaktoro approached him, and smiled politely. "Konichiwa, you are a Qaktoro, of the Hidden Sun Clan, correct?' She asked in perfect Yamataigo. and bowed to him respectfully. "you may of course introduce yourself, my name is Alice, Sursilvan, the Diplomatic Ambassador of the Mining Guild." She said introducing herself to him.

He had to blink, a little ashamed of her clear mastery of the language he still struggled with. He'd need to use that shame for something constructive, like practice! "Al-ice... Sur... silvan." he repeated. Her title... Mining Guild... It was sparking a memory, but he wasn't entirely sure yet. "I am Toidorno Sejgui, Ambassador of the Hidden Sun Clan. Or, you may have heard it by its name in our tongue, the Poku Saeruo Degonjo." Yes, he could at least say THAT name perfectly well. "May I ask... Alice... Where is the... Mining Guild?"

Alice sensed he had some difficulty speaking, but she didnt comment on it, instead, she smiled, as she learned the name of the handsome, Qaktoro, infront of her. "I am honored to meet you Ambassador Seijgui." She said, then she began to switch languages. to that used by the Hidden Sun Clan. "I am familiar with both names, used by your clan." She said to Toidorno. "To answer your question, the Mining Guild is currently in a nation called the New Dusk Conclave, off to the north east of here, and in addition. We have sent a Contingent, to a new sector of space called Kosuke Sector, with Yamatai Star Empire's Fifth Expeditionary Fleet, and First Expeditionary Fleet, along with the Motoyoshi Clan. And as of excellent talks with the Imperial Premier, we will soon be located here, in Yamatai Star Empire," She told him, in answer to his question.

The Qaktoro was utterly floored when the fox-eared woman switched to takavonai, the language of his people. Toidorno liked to think of himself as a man who wasn't easy to surprise... but damned if Alice hadn't done just that. He blinked his mismatched eyes, attempting to regain his composure, but his tail flicked excitedly, betraying him. He responded with a teeth-showing smile, speaking in takavonai. "Ahh, I am familiar with you all! We call you the Clan of the Sunset." He reflected on her company's accomplishments; he didn't know enough of Yamatai fleet specifics to know how meaningful this was... But it certainly sounded impressive. "And is your Conclave... seeking to become a part of the Empire?" he asked pointedly.

Alice detected the subtle signs of surprise in Toidorno. His tail was noticed immediately, and she knew that he was excited or atleast pleased. Alice was only too pleased to be able to make things easier on him for their conversation. "Clan of Sunset, I like it, I shall have to let my boss, CEO Kurosaki know too, so she can tell the Royal Representative, Pine about it as well. As for your question, I do not believe the Conclave is seeking to become a part of the Empire, but the Mining Guild I represent however, wish expansion, and we believe, entering the empire is beneficial for us, already we have friends here, and more could be made, I believe."

"Hmmm." Toidorno vocalized thoughtfully. "And if your Clan were considering joining the Empire, fully, what would your stance be? Would you be supportive, or no?" Like the predator that he was, at his core, he had a 'prey' here. And it was this idea of joining the Empire. Knowing how the New Dusk Conclave felt about such a proposal could shape his own perspective on the act. Besides that, this Alice woman was quite charming, and he could very well see why she had been chosen to represent her company.

"If the New Dusk Conclave, joins the Empire, i'd be supportive, of course, many in the New Dusk Conclave, were once citizens of the Empire, and the Empire is also honorable, from what I have seen. The New Dusk Conclave, or the NDC for short and the Empire are allies, at the moment. so I do not know how they feel, as my area is Mining Guild's interests." She said in addition,

He folded his clawed hands behind his back, thoughtful. He filed away her response for later consideration. "Separately, Alice Sur-Sil-Van... May I ask how you came to learn takavonai? Your pronunciation is excellent, I cannot even detect an accent."

Alice smiled "thank you, i am honored by your compliments, I spent time learning languages when i finally figured out that i wanted to be the Mining Guild's Ambassador, here at the International Relations Conference. I knew that a member of your clan would be here, and thus thought i should learn your people's language. I have done so, for the Empire's Yamataigo aswell." She said to him.

"You are an impressively swift learner. Must be your fine ears." he said with a grin, gesturing to his own feline ears. Hers were rather larger than his, though she was a foot shorter than he was. "Yamataigo makes use of sounds that our language does not... Though you surely know this, speaking both." He fretted a little, realizing he wasn't exactly appearing to be very capable. "I... am not normally in this position. The Ambassador work, I mean. For many years, I was a Ship's Second in our defense fleet. After that, I assisted... a group of people who are new to our clan within the last decade." He refocused on Alice. "Were you always... who you are now?" he asked.

Alice noded her head in agreement, he was correct and he had infact noticed what he was talking about in reference to Yamataigo, and his people's language. Soon she learned of his back ground, and nodded. "I have detected your back ground, in the way you moved," Alice said with a smile on her face. "In a matter of speaking, no, but not in the way you are thinking of. I am an AI, Artificial Mind, in a organic body, something those in New Dusk Conclave, are capable of. I emerged in our cyberspace, and when i became sentient, I started learning what i could, wanting to be of help to others, The Mining Guilds, CEO, Astrid Kurosaki, learned of my diplomatic skills, and thus invited me to join her Mining Guild as part of its diplomatic corps. A little different from yourself i know, but i do hope that my other status, doesnt bother you, I would like us to continue talking and be friends" Alice said.

Spotting the Senti, Hanako went over to introduce herself. "Welcome to Reikan Park," she began. "I hope you are finding everything to your liking. I am Hanako, Imperial Premier of Yamatai. Please, tell me what's on your mind."

Dusali looked up from her tablet, her face breaking into a wide smile before she offered a soft bow from her position standing next to the Shuristan Senator. Shretas gave a soft nod as he addressed her. "Ah, Premier! It is good to see you outside the Senate hall. I trust you have met Dusali Kherras and Governor Khelas Nascen?"

"I plan to," Hanako told Dusali. "What can you tell me about them?"

"Dusali, at my right hand, is a medical projects director with the Shuristan Office of National Diplomacy, and the one who approved me to be transferred into the youthful visage before you," Shretas laughed slightly before continuing. "Governor Nascen is... Well, she's a bit intense, and I'm not sure where she's gotten off to. I heard she did some good work meeting with the Empress when Shurista joined your Empire."

Dusali's smile never faltered as she gently poked the Senator. "And I heard you were the one to talk to about a few issues. Mostly medical projects in integrating and modernizing Shurista's infrastructure. I think the improvements will be a boon to both our peoples."

"Among the many hats worn by the Imperial Premier is a nurse hat," Hanako nodded, "I do oversee Yamatai's healthcare system," she nodded. "What can we do for you?"

"I'll then let you ladies handle that mess," Shretas offered a bow and stepped back, letting Dusali take the lead.

"Well, I've seen much at the expos tonight, perhaps a trade deal and some personnel training is in order," Dusali spoke warmly. "We have offered the full might of the Civil Service search and rescue forces to Yamatai's emergency response acts, and are willing to offer yard space, manpower, and raw materials to Yamatai's industrial complex to help finance the upgrades and modernization of our medical systems, being easily a few hundred years behind your own. Soul transfer? Honestly most of us thought such a thing some dark fantasy of science fiction. To see it implemented as a life saving procedure even to my own superiors, I would love to learn its workings."

"Indeed," Hanako nodded.

"Sorry, I am... What is the Yamataian term? Being a nerd? I have been studying multispecies medicine for the last few years, and so far, I am loving every second of being in so far over my head," the Senti doctor gave a laugh. "I haven't even begun to search the Library for anything that would make this mutually beneficial!"

Yui's hand landed on Fletcher's shoulder. "Fletcherrrr," she said. "Schmoozing with the diplomats or just here for the free wine?" she chuckled. "I'm just glad I'm in the Star Army and not in Hanako's shoes. She has a way with talking that I'm not sure I do. I'm not like my sister, Yuumi, or Himiko, trained in the ways of... negotiations. I'm a warrior. How goes it?"

"The Hidden Sun Clan is here, as are many of our allies. I want our Allies to know who they are fighting alongside. I've found that I have to be a diplomat to be effective, but I'm glad that it is not my calling. I've had some conversations with some of the lower level members of the Hidden Sun Clan and I'm impressed with them. If they choose to join us, I think they will be a good addtion to the Empire. And Naturally the wine is a very nice bonus. Have you tried the Essian Sunfruit Wine?" Fletcher replied, swirling his cup of yellow wine.

"I don't drink," Yui said.

Noticing the glass of yellow and the word Essian as she approached, Hoshi though to make a joke about the jars some of her Separa'Shan crewmen had filled that looked like as much during their long voyage to Kuvexia, but caught her tongue and gave a deep bow instead.

"Good day for it, isn't it?" the petite pink captain asked after she had formally greeted the commander of the Star Army and her Admiral.

Fletcher looked like he might have had something to say on the topic of drinking, but instead turned to Hoshi. "It is. I hope you have been enjoying the confrence so far? Making connections with our allies?"

"I'm here to make sure the delegates can do as much," Hoshi said, captain of the ship relegated to helping its XO host the conference.

Hoshi's tone took on a sharp cadence as she went on, "Recently made contact with an alien species under duress from the Mishhuvurthyar. I would have liked to bring them here as future allies, but you can't win them all. They're advanced enough to leave us with their teleporter pad technology as if it were junk to them. Next conference, I suppose."

"Yes," Yui nodded. "We have been encountering new allies as we look into the new sectors. The Concordians, after being brouhgt out of their long slumber, seem especially eager to get back out there in space and many of them are joining the Star Army from their temporary home on Virginia," she nodded.

"We've also been running across species being menaced by the Mishhuvurthyar. It feels like we are expanding again. I've heard rumblings that expansion may mean that we are diluting our culture. I don't believe that myself, but I'd like to know what you two think." Fletcher said, making conversation.

It felt imprudent to speak on Yamataian culture with one of Yamatai's central figures. So, although Fletcher had said he wanted to hear what the two of them thought, Hoshi understood the question was mostly for Yui and tucked her hands behind her white Type 23 and listened attentively with her deep blue eyes on the head of the Ketsurui.

"It's my stance that Yamatai's diversity is a strength," Yui said. "Think about it this way: We are an Empire but also we are a group of people bound together by a common cause to make the best of this universe and to protect each other. In an Empire that rules by fear and force the Empire spends its time looking inward trying to put down threats. But Yamatai has many cultures who want to be here so we can look outward and be stronger for it, and we also don't need to spend our resources forcibly conquering neighbors like the early days of the Empire because people will join willingly. So it's up to us to keep the Star Army inclusive and incorporate the best people from all those cultures together into a cohesive fighting force, and expanding will just bring in more talent."

Fletcher smiled and nodded in agreement, "I've found that diversity of thought is vital to making wise decisions. You don't always take the advice that is given, but when possible, the input helps to make better decisions."

"Not everyone is fit for protecting; some of those given the privilege to be a part of Yamatai simply need protection." Hoshi seemed to be choosing her words carefully, but was still not sure if she was betraying too much. "And that's fine." She liked talking to Yui every other time she had spoken with her and should have guessed conversations about politics would not be off the table at a political conference. Even still, the captain's cheeks were flushed as she tried not to mince words.

Sun Horatio continued his "patrolling" around the outer edges of the meeting hall. He dips inward deeply when he encountered one of the ID-SOLs or DION diplomats to avoid causing any scenes. He just looks around at all the diplomats and Yamataian officials with a cup he only occasionally sips. After seeing Yui and the SAoY officers in his path, takes a sip from his cup, and deviates his path away from them.

With the Sky Marshal introduced to Hanako, William off tending to his responsibilities for a moment, and then her pleasant exchange with Sachiko completed, Aiko was afforded a few seconds of relaxation. The Ketsurui princess took stock of all before her, feeling fulfilled that everything was proceeding smoothly under her watch, and shifted her long legs comfortably on the tall heels she wore. But those easy breaths spent surveying the assembled dignitaries proved fleeting when she spied Sun Horatio doing his rounds of the conference hall.

Aiko followed him with her eyes for a while. His patrol, as it were, wasn't particularly peculiar at first glance—and Aiko was sure security had been keeping tabs on the man to ensure everyone's safety—but nonetheless piqued her interest in the way he kept everyone and everything at arm's length. So she pulled up his identity to find he was Sun Horatio, who was attending the conference as part of the Nepleslian Red delegation. After quickly glancing down at her uniform to make sure everything was still in perfect order, Aiko stepped off and approached him directly.

"Your Excellency Sun-san," Aiko said, courteously intercepting him on his left side from behind but making no effort to slow his forward pace. She matched his stride, gliding gracefully in step with the Red. "I am Ketsurui Aiko, and wanted to make your acquaintance. Is there anything I could do to assist you? The Premier, I am sure, would appreciate meeting you as much as I just have."

Horatio looked over towards the source of the voice. He just sort of raised his left eyebrow at being called excellency and -san in the same sentence. But he didn't really put much thought into it beyond the strangeness.

“Ah Ketsurui-chusa it is an honor. Mister Sun will suffice, no need to make use of Yamataian honorifics on someone like me.” Horatio said as he slowed down his already slow pace. He then bowed his head, unable to give a Red salute to her that consists of placing a fist to his heart and then opening the hand with the palm face downwards.

What the FDC had of her public exploits flashed into his vision as his staff had gone out of their way to prepare briefs on those within the sector that might have shown up. They didn't really have an intelligence agency in the FDC beyond internal security, but open source intelligence can be sometimes just as effective with enough data points.

Recognizing her, he slowed down his pace enough out of respect. He thought to himself for a moment to consider her request. He then shook his head no. He could certainly use an Ukmirt Greyberry lager right now, but whatever he had right now would do. “Do not worry, I am specifically avoiding those Greens here. The IRC seems hardly the place re-ignite that pointless conflict.” Sun Horatio said, knowing full well that is likely something on many individuals’ minds seeing him and their delegation from the FDC. He look a sip of his drink before looking over in Hanako’s direction before looking back at Aiko.

“The Premier looks busy. But who am I to deny her wishes if she does indeed wish to speak with me.” Horatio said.

Toidorno, speaking to Alice, was taken aback at yet another surprising revelation from the representative of the Mining Guild. "I see." he said, speaking slowly at first as he processed this news. "We, too, employ artificial minds, as you may know." This was true; the Clan had been using synthetic brains since well before their flight from their home-world more then eight-hundred years ago. The brains had names in the Clan, and they identities as well, but they were not Clan citizens as they had no bodies and could not attempt the Clan's rite of passage into adulthood and citizenship. The Clan employed robots, but these machines were given deliberately-limited synthetic brains incapable of reaching sentience... At least, there had not yet been a report of one of their robots attaining sentience. Further, in the Clan's dominant religious belief The Divine Way, there were some who argued that artificial beings of a synthetic or created origin were not given a soul by the universe, and therefore were not a part of the cycle of reincarnation. Toidorno felt that he ought not to share any of this potentially troubling information with Alice on their first meeting; this was not the time nor the place.

"That is a remarkable origin. And we certainly can continue to talk and enjoy a friendship." he told her, truthfully. Toidorno himself had once been a rather staunch cultural conservative... but a near-decade aboard the Yome Ismâopate, as well as time spent among the Scientific Studies Service as well as the Niko Yârme, had helped him to become more open-minded, more tolerant. The universe was populated with a variety of people that often failed to fit into the Clan's rigidly-defined roles and social structures. "I must admit, when I asked whether you were always who you are now, I was imagining you were a teacher, or perhaps a journalist, given your social skills. Cyberspace was not high on my list." He smiled, hopeful that she took his words positively.

"We ought to find a proper term for your company. The Yamataigo..."
He paused, shifting languages to say 'Mining Guild' in the tongue of the Star Empire, before switching back to takavonai. "As you know, 'doapa' means a dig, as in a dig site. We have the word mâjosawy, for wealth or treasure. Treasure under the earth could mean the metals and ores your company seeks... We could strive to combine these words to form a name for your company in our tongue."

Alice nodded thoughtfully as the Hidden Sun Clan representative spoke, her gaze unwavering as she absorbed his words. She was indeed familiar with the Clan's use of Artificial Minds, but the notion of one attaining sentience was intriguing, albeit unprecedented in her knowledge. "It's true," she began, her voice carrying a hint of curiosity, "I've not come across any reports of sentient robots within the Hidden Sun Clan."

Her smile widened as the conversation took a more personal turn, acknowledging the subtle flattery in his remarks about her origins. The prospect of forging a friendship with someone from the Hidden Sun Clan pleased her greatly; their civilization, like the Yamatai Star Empire, held significant potential for the Mining Guild's business endeavors.
"I'm glad you're willing to engage in dialogue," Alice responded warmly. "Building connections and understanding between civilizations is crucial for progress and prosperity."
She chuckled softly at his mention of her unexpected role in cyberspace, finding amusement in the contrast between expectations and reality. "It's true, isn't it?" she remarked with a playful glint in her eyes. "Sentience in artificial beings is indeed a rarity, often overlooked or dismissed. Yet here I am, defying expectations."

Leaning forward slightly, Alice's expression grew earnest as she shared a glimpse of her past activities. "In my own way, I've played the role of a teacher," she admitted. "Guiding others, imparting knowledge, fostering understanding—it's all part of the journey towards growth and harmony."

With a gracious nod, Alice gestured towards her companion. "And now, perhaps, I have the opportunity to learn from you as well," she added with genuine interest. "To understand the perspectives and values of the Hidden Sun Clan firsthand." Alice's smile widened, a glint of amusement dancing in her eyes as she allowed her fangs to peek through, a subtle display of her unique nature. "Indeed," she remarked, her voice tinged with warmth and humor, "I think our company could benefit from a special name, something your people could easily embrace."

Recalling the challenges of communicating in Yamataigo, she couldn't help but empathize with her companion's efforts. If the language posed difficulties for him, perhaps it did for others in the Hidden Sun Clan as well. Alice resolved silently to do what she could to bridge that gap. As he offered the two words, "doapa" for dig and "mâjosawy" for wealth or treasure, Alice's mind sprang into action, processing the information with swift efficiency. She appreciated the gesture, recognizing the significance of naming their company in a language meaningful to her companion's culture.

"So," she mused, her tone thoughtful, "we shall be known as Poku Doapa Majosawy, the Clan that Digs for Treasure?" Alice's pronunciation was careful, her determination to honor the language evident in her inquiry. Her understanding of "Poku" as "Clan" in Takavonai resonated deeply with her sense of camaraderie within the Mining Guild. The notion of kinship and unity embodied in the word felt fitting for their enterprise, where every member played a vital role in pursuit of shared goals.

With a nod of satisfaction, Alice met her companion's gaze, awaiting his confirmation. In this simple act of naming, she recognized the potential to forge stronger bonds and foster mutual respect between their cultures.

Thank you for your kind words,” replied Karael to the Mining Guild representative, who was quite frankly a breathe of fresh air compared to the Elysian and Yamataian politicians she was used to dealing with; after Alice departed, the Patrician turned to address Shretas’ comment - only to freeze mid-motion as the communicator in her pocket began to vibrate. “My apologies, everyone. I gave my aide strict instructions not to disturb me while at the conference, but…

With a slight grimace due to the magnitude of the social faux pas she was committing, Karael withdrew her phone - a slim, curved thing that would’ve looked completely at home on a display stand inside a certain fruit-themed electronics store - and answered it. “You know that I mean no rudeness, Andariel, but did I not expli-what?

The transition of the blonde-haired birb’s features from slightly-annoyed neutrality to complete and utter shock was as abrupt as the change in her tone. “What do you mean there was a break-in? Such a thing there is impo-they stole what?!? ………Lord have mercy on us all. Does the media kn…of course they do, what am I thinking. Prepare a stateme-oh, you’ll be handling it? From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Andariel. Remind me and I’ll treat you to an evening at Akilina’s once I return the IRC… no need to thank me, thank you, and I’ll leave you to it, then. Please contact me if things develop further, and I’ll be in touch. Ciao.

With that, a visibly shaken - and shade or three paler - Karael placed her phone back in her pocket. “R-Right, where was I… right, my sincerest apologies about that. I’ve just been informed that a break-in was discovered at one of our military installations, which resulted in the loss of a vast quantity of military equipment. The media’s already picked up on it, and will likely be running a story on it soon, so I’m likely going to be scarce or at least pre-occupied for the foreseeabl-

The Patrician let out a sigh as her phone once again went off. “Speak of the Devil, and he shall appear. I again must sincerely apologize - it seems that I’ll have to rejoin this conversation later, as my attention and efforts are needed elsewhere.

Karael thus whipped out her phone and began to walk away, her neutral definitely strained as she began quietly and hurriedly speaking into said phone in Seraphim.

Though Machariel, now nursing a second drink that was much too sour for his preferences, barely paid attention to the fancily-dresses Nepleslian who’d briefly locked eyes with him - the Patrician was used to them having that sort of reaction, given that Elysians were apparently rare on Nepleslia or something - he did pay attention to the (admittedly attractive) form of a certain Senatorial Legate as she abruptly departed the room after taking a phone call. Karael Malarch, the current Senatorial Legate of the Elysian Senate and - assuming things haven’t changed too much during my ‘nap’ - one of my father’s most vocal critics. What’s she so hot and bothered about…?
