The shuttle carrying Aeto landed uneventfully on one of the many landing platforms of Ueno

Kohana City. A young lady with short black hair flagged down Aeto and escorted him to a cab. 15 minutes later the cab pulled up in front of the Asa no Sakura Hotel allowing Aeto to exit.

It was alsways the end of a trip that was the heaviest burden. Not the hours of catching awkward eyes of other passengers going from this shuttle to that shuttle, waiting on a bench with another nervous bench sitter on the opposite end. It wasn't even listening to a Hoshi no Iori historical enthusiast prattle on about her pointless research involving energy cells, rodents, and house maids. Though it had been hours since the smell of liquour had subsided and his tongue stopped being dry, Aeto couldn't help but look nervously to the side as his cab stopped. The headache was coming back.

Through the window of the cab, Aeto could see the Asa no Sakura hotel. It was 13 floors high, and was less of a traditional design than most japanese buildings. It featured hard edges instead of curves and looked a lot blockier than most buildings. Once inside, Aeto would realize that the room he was sent to was a normal guest room. The numbers were written on a gold plate outside the door.

"Numbers. Just what I needed...damn lines and curves and..." Aeto mumbled as he slouched, one hands resting against the wall. There it went, first headache of the hour not a single hair from any kind of dog in sight. His hand jammed lazily into the side pocket of his overcoat digging past a few crumpled up straw papers, advanced system recovery paperclips, and what felt like potting soil. Blinking at the thought and somewhat afraid of what happened the night before, Aeto’s mind drifted only slightly before pulling out his record book. Record book, or as what others would call it, a soggy receipt. It worked for what he wanted it to do.

ROOM 312. SOUNDED LIKE A SHE. DON’T WEAR THE COLOGNE, ALLERGIES. His eyes struggled to read without letting the morning after army stomp around inside his brain too much. Shifting his black duffle bag to his left shoulder, Aeto strolled with a glance to the door and a squint as his receipt. At 312, he opened the door while hoping it would be better than the last time he stayed in a hotel. Dead prostitutes tend to make checking into a command a bit awkward.

A white-haired, golden-eyed Nekovalkyrja glanced up from her position at the table that she was using for her desk, she had left off the electronic lock intentionally and it seemed like it had paid off.

"Rokunohe-Hei." Yoshiko said, as she stood up. "How was your trip?" Yoshiko asked, gesturing for Kansuke to take the seat the she had just been occupying.

Voices. There went all of his concentration. Before he turned to gather a response, Aeto closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Opening his eyes, he realized the folly of his grand adventures. If he took his hand off the door, he would fall flat on his face. Analyze the situation. Use of rank. Knowledge of name. Possibly in charge. Female. Involved with the potting soil? …Possible, but not likely. Counterbalance is needed. Still without uttering an answer, the dull strands of midnight blue hair shifted to the side as Aeto set his duffle bag on the floor. Almost a perfect counter balance, though it tried to take him down for the count. Pretending to stabilize the bag, Aeto stood straight while turning to the sound of the voice. A deep, thorough bow was his first answer. “ Many thanks for asking, it was perfectly trashed.” He stood again with a face of flawless composure, his hair returning to an almost pinpoint cascade over both his shoulders. If only he knew what had come out of his mouth.

"Trashed?" Yoshiko asked with a confused look on her face. "What do you mean trashed?" Yoshiko hadn't heard about anything odd happening on the way.

Aeto stared for a few seconds, his eyes low and condescending. Not because he felt condescending, but because it was a good cover after finally realizing what he said. Raising a fist to his mouth, Aeto coughed slightly before responding. "Mmm. The trip itself was not at all a problem. Pleasant, actually. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my evaluation database on the way here. I do try to organize myself before becoming acquainted with a crew."

"That's a good habit to have Rokunohe-san." Yoshiko said before sitting down on the bed beside the desk. "This is gonna be slightly diffeerent than what you are used to, just bear with me." Yoshiko said

"I can't believe that worked..." Aeto said to himself, more surprised in his own poorly crafted line than the results. He nodded in ackowledgement, then gave a brief look around the room.
While it seemed to be a survey, he had to mask his eyebrow raising at the bed.

"You can sit in the desk chair." Yoshiko offered to Aeto realizing what the situation might appear to be. "This'll be an interview for a... unique position. As I'm sure you're aware the Star Army doesn't usually interview folks for jobs after they join. But for this it's a necessity. The Genei is a SAINT ship, what we are doing is less direct than most ships. Hopefully we won't ever be seeing combat. I want to know though, is this type of work you're interested in?" Yoshiko asked the Hei

Walking towards the seat, Aeto removed his gloves from his hands and stuffed them into his overcoat. He took a seat, neatly throwing the tail of his overcoat out, and clasped his hands in his lap. "I certainly would be interested. It would be more of a conscious use of my talent than standing watch at a uniform depot, that's for sure. If you have a place for my expertise, I certainly have the drive."

"And what expertise would that be?" Yoshiko asked. She had been looking at Aeto's file so she knew where his training was, but she wanted to know what Aeto thought of his own skills. "You are my expertise." Aeto responded. He left the simple answer in the air, straightened the collar of his overcoat.

"Excuse me?" Yoshiko responded somewhat dumbfounded. She wasn't quite sure if he was trying to hit on her or not, if he was, Yoshiko wasn't quite sure how she would respond to it.

Aeto lifted a hand at her second questions, though technically still the first. "The development, mitigation and lessons learned of Nekovalkyrja legacy series, and the analysis along with application of combat-oriented data for continued health and wellbeing. I am also well rounded in the modification of weapon systems and ground support equipment, though weapon analysis and modification is my secondary niche. As I stated before, my evaluation database was incomplete. From a bit of private research, Shosa, I have gathered quite a bit of information onto the crew and atmosphere I am about to step into. ot the mission, of course. That was far too difficult.” He admitted, closing his eyes briefly. “Besides, I'm planning on being promoted rather than having myself shot. I have a decent idea of why I may needed, how I can be best suited to assist, and why you'd need to interview me. Though, I do have one question." Clasping his hands again, Aeto stroked his freshly shaven chin with his thumbs. “What IS your name?”

Yoshiko smirked before speaking, "Okano Yoshiko" Yoshiko replied, "Tell me then, what do you know about our crew?" Yoshiko asked.

“The crew number is classified. Previous mission, classified, but I did laugh a little. My superior at the time--who is classified--had a good chuckle, but from a supportive standpoint. Power armor type is classified, number is classified. Above five, though. The effective range of…well, I shouldn’t say. If I were to say any more than “informant extraction” as to my research, I’m afraid I will have to allow you to detain me.” Aeto sat up rigidly, relieving himself from his previous attitude of the conversation. “But, as with weapon modification, that is not my area of expertise. Systems analysis, Operations, Communications and bridge support are my useful general vocation. I can also hammer together a power suit if someone’s been too rough. In light of what I’ve said, I also deliver reports to superiors well. …Of course, you can be the judge of that, Shosa.”

"I see." Yoshiko said, twisting a little bit of hair between her fingers as she spoke, "Since you seem well versed with classified materials I don't have to tell you that our job is one that you will be known for, unless you're bad at it. But I do have to ask, a few other questions. For instance I'm sure you're aware that the work we do could at times be questionably legal, would you have any problems obeying an order that forced you to break the law?" Yoshiko hoped she would never have to give such an order, since as SAINT their whole existance was to uphold the law and find those who were trying to undermine it.

"I will follow any lawful order given." Aeto answered quickly, though his deep breath indicated more. "It is the duty of those with power and privledge to exercise their responsibilities. If given an order that may go against law, reason or morals, I will do my best to find an alternative. Though, following orders is my duty. I will leave my fate in the hands of my superiors." Though it sounded official, Aeto nodded his head with a slight smirk, mouthing "All sorts of illegal."

Yoshiko nodded, apparently satisfied with Aeto's answer though not acknowledging what he didn't say. "Another part of this job involves being self-motivated enough to create a mission plan either on your own or with your coworkers to fulfill the mission objectives. Will you have any problems with that in any way?"

"Not at all." Aeto said while shifting in the chair. "I will work as part of a team or as an individual. Any way the mission would have me."

"Your record indicates that you have no prior expierience in the field of intelligence gathering. However, you do seem to possess quite a bit of detailed knowledge on a range of technical....subjects. Rokunohe-Hei, we are lacking expierienced personnel on my crew, what can you bring to the table that someone fully trained could not?" Yoshiko was considering taking Aeto for his knowledge alone, but she needed more. There were expierienced field agents out there that had that knowledge, why shouldn't she choose them?

A small tick of disinterest could be seen on Aeto's eyebrow. Caught. He was trying to downplay the other part of his field. If he had to go upside down in a greasy repair pit one more time, someone's paying with a bite to the face. No matter. I can still recover from this Aeto thought while taking a breath. "Most of my technical experience come from hands on work with propulsion systems and weapons arrays. While I'm no KESSAKU, I could bring a bird from dead into water back to fighting condition...with some help. I could be of great use with parts acquisition.” Aeto lifted his hands af if trying to weigh his technical skills. In reality, he was just trying to avoid showing any expertise in a job that’d involve putting his hand inside a toilet or repairing the disposal system. “ Maybe even smooth talk a few higher ups to passing us better equipment. I've worked in communications when I was younger. My academy was live with the fleet since we had a research wing that develops energy systems. I paid through my higher level studies before the state picked me up as a Comms Network Operator intern. Honestly I haven’t been on air in ages, but it only takes a while to get back into the groove.”

Yoshiko was silent for a while, during that time she returned her vision to a datapad she had picked back up off of the desk. "Alright, I think we have a position for you then." Yoshiko finally replied after a few minutes. "You have a few hours to yourself, take some time to relax. After that however you're to report to the Silken Lotus, Room 237." Yoshiko said.

...Did I win? Aeto thought, and slightly said out loud as he stood from the chair. Taking a longer, respectful bow, he left without saying a word. Many bigger challenges lay ahead.
