Is God Yamataian?

The following is excerpt from "Yamatai: Sorrow, Bloodshed, and Murder", a collection of essays written by infamous rebel leader Ryoshi Mikawa in YE 21. This particular passage is taken from the essay, "Is God Yamataian?", Ryoshi's first public political statement.

Decades have passed since the rise of Yamatai's grand empire. Years of warfare, punctuated by the occasional ceasefire while both sides lick their wounds before lunging for the throats once again.

The warfare has brought around one general truth. If you dont live on the world of Yamatai, you probably live a shitty life. As a man who has seen the thuggery and violence of Nepleslia, the devastation of Elysia, and the comfortable nationalism of Yamatai first-hand, I know well the questions that the independent minds stumble upon.

Is there truly a higher power, one that favors Yamatai, regardless of any and all evils this empire may commit?

Perhaps.

If there is, this higher power goes by the name of Kitsurugi Yui - the poster for the development of artificial warfare, and for the fall of natural existence. There is a God[dess]. And she is Yamataian.

And this Goddess believes strongly in violence for a simple reason.

That is how she was created. The Nekovalkyrja were bred for war - and that is to be blamed on Humanity. When presented with amazing technological capabilities, we designed with it weapons. That was our downfall, for our weapons now dominate every facet of Yamataian life. The residents of the empire rarely see this - and those who do realize the truth rarely live long enough to divulge it.

The Nekovalkyrja are very much like us. They love, they hope, they fear, they bleed. But there is a very subtle difference. Nekovalkyrja were created for a single reason: To kill Elysians.

As we advance through war after war, ever claiming victory while ignoring the terrible cost of life, the mistakes of the past become painfully obvious. Our weapons are fulfilling the duty we created them for, at the expense of harmony, peace, and diversity.
