Jiyuuian Peacekeeper Patrol / Joint Task Force?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but now that I have an approved Senator I was considering introducing a piece of legislation from the people of Jiyuu to create a volunteer naval policing force to act as an auxiliary arm of the notably small 10th fleet in securing the dangerous spacelanes of the Yagumo cluster. Think like a Peacekeeper Coast Guard. Some example missions would be to protect refugee ships returning home, interdict smugglers, combat piracy from rogue elements (which I've seen on the wiki includes the Reds), deliver aid, or secure former UOC fringe worlds that could be reclaimed for industrial use.

It would be a joint task force operation involving both Yamatai and the Lorath Matriarchy, specifically because it would rely on the latter to provide a few of their currently mothballed Ayana-class escort vessels and perhaps an Ionoche-class light carrier from LSDF Surplus Starship Depot that were once operated by the UOC to be recommissioned and brought back into service for this task. This would be a great gesture of DATASS treaty cooperation between the great powers, and also increase Jiyuuian morale that they can provide for their own defense (with appropriate SAOY oversight and a restricted charter). It is also cheap, as it requires no new ships or major resources to come into play, rather simply re-purposing what is just lying around in the setting being unused.

Lastly, the main point of all this is it would set the stage for a future plotship I plan to run... but that is not for a small while yet. :) Do you think this is doable in the context of the setting, though? Any feedback of how to get this accomplished is appreciated.
 
Heyo, sounds like they will have a very similar mission profile to that if the YSS Sakishima, part of one of 10th fleet's light destroyer squadrons.

I've been planning a Lorath exploration plot. The plans are in the GM forum, and a couple of my cheeky players on Akahar who run plots have had a look, as have Doc and Osaka.

Having a Jiyuuian patrol doing the rounds in known space would be comforting when we're passing through.
 
Yes GS, I was thinking of having involvements with other groups in the cluster, and YSS Sakishima is definitely up there since that is their area of responsibility. Maybe they could even help set it up in some way.

Luca, that sounds delightful. The Lorath deserve a plot like that, and it definitely would be good to have them around and interact.

The main hurdle for this is do I need to get @DocTomoe or someone else's permission to start down this route, since would need the ships to do it from them first, then do a wiki for submission etc.
 
I'm curious how you would want to have your guard force operate and interact with the navy, especially if/when they happen to both show up in the same place to do a job.

Could be a lot of interesting possobilities for cooperation or rivalry or other fun here.
 
YSE law says that, other than local defense fleets for planets (read: star systems that have their own vassal nation governments like Gashmere), the only permitted military force in the YSE is the actual Star Army of Yamatai. This sounds like it would be adding a second military to Yamatai, which is not legal.

Since the UOCPF was absorbed into the Star Army a few years ago, the former peacekeepers who survived the NMX invasion of the UOC and were still on active duty are mostly there. Maybe we could create a special Star Army task force of them?
 
Could be a squadron within Tenth fleet specifically crewed by former UOC crews that have rejoined the Star Army?

I was wondering if there was a legal aspect to this involved, hence why I was originally considering it as a Senate proposal since it would be asking for a special consideration to create a self-defense fleet with some autonomy. However, if it must be something like a specialized squadron directly under Tenth Fleet then I suppose we can go that route, like something similar to Task Force Lantern. The way I see it is resurrecting the spirit of the old UOCPF Pirate Task Force in some way.

Also yes... plot...conflict... fun! :)

Btw, I also realized a good reason for Jiyuuians to recapture some prestige is because of their well-known penchant for diplomacy and acceptance. They could possibly try to recapture a spot as a universal mediation force, that could help diffuse conflicts among all three DATASS nations (which all have Jiyuuian refugee populations), or even between Yamatai and its enemies.
 
Just thought I would give an update on the progress of things. Since I've got the okay from both Wes and Gunny, the wiki article on Joint Task Force Kaguya is next to be completed in the near future. I then hope to start the official YSS Kaguya plotship recruiting in September (along with a meta plot event of some type), when my free time to manage things and develop a storyline should increase. I will be assisted in this endeavor by @Archander, who will be playing the captain of the namesake vessel.
