Age: 22

Family / Creators: Mother: Kamiyama Natsumi (deceased)

Occupation: Cook / Janitor
Rank: Soldier 2nd Class
Current Assignment: Serving aboard the YSS Miharu

Physical Characteristics

Height: 6'3
Weight: 146 lbs.

Build and Skin Colour: Lean but not muscular. Smooth skin, light complexion.
Facial Features and Eye Colour: A remarkably average face, easily forgettable in any humanoid-type crowd. Slim, violet eyes.
Hair Colour and Style: Long, hip-length black hair that is well kept. Hair is tied back behind the head with seven white ribbons while on duty or wrapped up with a pair of lacquered chopsticks while in the kitchen.

Distinguishing Features: Morita is considered plain by many standards, so the majority of what makes him stands out is his posture and choice of headwear or how he styles his hair. Prefers bandanas to hats.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality:
Easily approachable. The kind of person who has an easy smile and is always willing to listen to problems - a "go-to" guy ideal for counseling. Prefers talking to fighting, but is not a pacifist and realizes the need to fight. Has a hidden side which he keeps from people at all times, save when it cannot be avoided. Is easily forgetful, especially with names. Doesn't care much for sweet stuff. Has a strong liking to anything that can be considered a challenge in his fields of expertise, but only insofar as it provides entertainment (people with mental disorders are considered as entertainment). Is, for the most part, apathetic and ambivalent when it comes to duties - if it is done, then it is done. Hard to read properly, due to a tendency to say one thing and really mean something else. Is fully aware of body posture, and subconsciously uses it to his advantage in conversations. Handles all people with respect up until they give him a reason to stop respecting them. Is fairly trusting of other people, and does not back down from a promise. Gives off the impression that he isn't too intelligent (despite the contrary). All in all, considered to be a very laid-back person, preferring play to work.

Likes: Games (all sorts), conversation, debate, women, alcohol, slacking off, movies, fans
Dislikes: Boring, repetitive activites, diet soft drinks
Goals: Open a restaurant like the one his mother used to run, explore the universe

History

Born Kamiyama Shimei Morita in Port Xenn, Yamatai. Morita never knew his father, however his mother was a Geshrin woman of the middle-class society of Yamatai. They both lived fairly uneventful lives - Natsumi ran a noodle bar in a hotel that enjoyed brief popularity and sustained business for its good food, excellent atmosphere due to a fairly good in-house cover band and many entertainers that came and went. Morita lived a life free of worry, helping his mom out in the kitchen ever since he was a little kid, and when he was old enough, serving customers as a busboy. He showed talent at being a bartender, and by the time he turned 18, he effectively took over his mother's business. Despite the constant stream of customers in the bar, the place had to be closed due to the hotel going bankrupt. While having a fair amount of money in pocket Morita and his mother talked it over and decided to split the earnings and live carefree lives for a time, usually apart, but also sometimes together. Morita spent the next two years travelling from city to city using the money to see the sights. As he turned 20, Morita found himself out of money, so he ended up working in other kitchens and bars over the course of a year and a half. Morita was one of the first people in line to adopt the Soul Transfer program and "upgrade" his body to become a Yamataian. The bulk of the places that he worked at he simply quit because of any number of reasons, and deep down, he lamented the fact that there was nowhere that was like the restaurant of his childhood. He signed up for the Star Army and had recently finished training when he learned that his mother died, also broke. He did not mourn her death, however dearly he loved her; he simply comissioned a small memento in which a portion of her ashes were stored, which he keeps with him wherever he goes.

Skills

Art and Vocations: Morita traveled many places simply because he could hold a tune fairly well. Showing talent with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica, he played with the cover band in the restaurant fairly often. Everywhere he traveled, Morita was able to easily pick out and congregate with fellow musicians, often picking up advice from them and exchanging songs. Many of the tunes that Morita is fond of were composed following the days after his mother's death, made in the belief that his music would guide her soul to her final resting place.

Culinary: Despite Morita's general aversion to most sweet foods, he has a knack as a patisserie, or a pastry chef. By the time he was 13 he was the one making all the desserts for his mother. While he never enjoyed sweets, his mother had a fond love of them, so many times he would trade a particularly well-crafted dessert pastry for a steak or an excellent loaf of bread. Aside from being a pastry chef, Morita's basic cooking skills are also there - had the restaurant not been forced to close down, many people (including his mother) believed that he had the talent to make some truly excellent dishes. Morita spends a little bit of every day in the kitchen trying to make something new, much to others' delight.

Domestic: Being the only son of a restaurant owner meant that Morita had to chip in with chores. After a long discussion with Natsumi, Morita and Natsumi deemed it fair for him to take care of much of the menial chores while Natsumi took care of living expenses and other things that Morita couldn't handle, such as restaurant operations and financing. Many of these skills were further enhanced by Morita's training in the Star Army, where he learned how to clean in zero-gravity.

Fighting: Saying that Morita knows how to fight is a bit of an understatement. Prior to the Soul Transfer, Morita was not the largest Geshrin, but frequently had to take care of troublemakers in and out of the bar during late-night hours up to twice his size. The bulk of Morita's techniques focus on doing nonpermanent damage to a person while at the same time incapacitating them, typically while he is unarmed. He has learned the basics of firearms and has further developed his unarmed fighting technique, emulating Wing Chun and its extreme close quarter disabling and takedown techniques. Much of firearm combat is supplemented by getting closer to the enemy to utilize Morita's full potential, using sidearms as extensions of his hands or as feints while he pummels somebody to a senseless heap of meat.

Humanities: Tending the bar and being around people who only existed in the restaurant for maybe a week at best exposed Morita to a wide variety of cultures and personalities. Morita found that it paid well to listen to the troubles of soldiers, people from the upper class, people from the lower class, tourists, troublemakers, and everybody else in-between. While not telepathic, Morita has a natural sense of empathy that enables him to be on an even level with a person no matter how insane or sober that person might be. Most confrontations at the bar were usually solved with a drink on the house provided by Morita.

Physical: Morita has never really been involved in anything past fighting and stocking the restaurant, save for when his journeys take him on long-ranging expeditions on foot to see the sights of Yamatai (guided or not). Morita keeps in shape simply because he likes working up a good sweat, and when business was slow at the restaurant he usually would go jogging or find some people to play soccer with. Morita is also fond of volleyball as well, and while he often didn't have the chance to play, the times he did always left him wanting for more.

Survival and Military: Morita has traveled many places on Yamatai that were deemed as safe for travel, and many more places where people simply never caught him trespassing. The wanderlust that encompasses Morita caused him to spend much of his free time exploring and seeing new things after the restaurant closed down. He learned how to disappear into parts of wilderness for weeks at a time and then come back to civilization and resume business as usual. Many wargames that were held planetside ended up to Morita's unit having the advantage simply due to the fact that he had been to many of the locations where the exercises were conducted. A favorite pasttime of his was to play hide and seek with his squadmates in training camp.

OOC: Second character, the first being Brady Dust.
