Personality: Naive and almost always happy. Karin could easily be described as "bubbly". She is naturally empathic, able to gauge people's moods quite well and will usually try to make them feel better or help them. If she has a stressful day she is likely to stay outwardly calm, but will take out her anger on anything she can find - a pillow, punching bag, broken machinery...
Likes: Metal (music), dance music or anything with a fast beat, friends, her work

Communications: Karin is able to speak English and Japanese fluently, and is able to communicate somewhat haltingly in Latin. She is proficient in the operation of radio systems and most other communications devices, and is able to read and write to a very high standard.
Fighting and Physical: Karin has basic martial arts training encompassing three different styles, and some proficiency with sidearms and smaller rifles.

Piloting (Shuttles and Fightercraft): An obvious requirement for any crewmember of a deep space exploration ship. Karin is an expert at piloting most types of shuttlecraft and fighters, and is quick to learn the controls of those she has not encountered before. She does, however, prefer to fly small, agile fighters over the bulkier shuttles.
Repair and Engineering: Commisioned by NovaCorp in order to help fill out the ranks of competant engineers on board the Destiny. As a commisioned crewmember, she has had all of the information about the Destiny preloaded into her memory, although she can only access it when it is needed (IE if a door wont work, she can fix it, but otherwise doesn't know how). She is capable of repairing any individual component of the ship, and takes a keen interest in learning how to operate the more advanced construction equipment (such as the fabricators).
Entertainment - Music: Even this soon after her "birth", Karin has fallen in love with music, and specifically the "guitar". After begging her teachers for several weeks, they finally gave in and had one made. Karin enjoys jamming on her guitar, and can usually be found in her quaters practicing or just messing around when off duty.
History: Originally ordered as part of a set of the new Yamataian race by NovaCorp and intended for use in the engineering detail on board the Destiny. Karin recently escaped from the colony ship after the colonists themselves rioted and took control, ending up on yamatai for a short while before joining the star army and being assigned to the YSS Valiant as part of the ship's engineering section.
