A considerable amount of time had been spent by the Green’s 1st assault fleet reviewing the data gathered from the Kennewes Raid. Equipment on board ships had been tuned accordingly, strategies and tactics were worked out, fleet deployments were finalized, and a cohesive plan had been put into place.
This plan was finally expressed close to the start of YE-30 when the 1st Assault Fleet made its arrival at Kennewes to begin its pacification operation of the space based defenses.
The NSS Thunder Child, NSS Warrior, and NSS Stonewall, the large LHA class ships designed for landing operations, appeared 4au from Kennewes with ample space between them. The ten DD4s of the 2nd Destroyer Squadron, the Knights, were deployed in a wedge in front of the Thunder Child. They were further screened by a sphere of 20 Hary stealth gun ships from the 6th. This formation was repeated with the 3rd and 7th squadron for the NSS Warrior, and the 4th and 8th Squadron for the NSS Stonewall.
At 8 AU from Kennewes, behind the first three groups, appeared the NSS Glorie and the NSS Coalition. These two ships were screened by two lines of DD4s from the 5th and the 1st squadrons while a sphere of gunships from the 9th further protected the ships at the center. Among them were the NSS Retribution, its hull distorted and melted from weapon strikes during the raid and the NSS Vengeful which had a patchwork piece of armor recently fitted over the damaged portion of the ship instead of solid repairs due to the pressing lack of ship facilities on the Red’s side. While the Vengeful was fully equipped the Retribution still was missing most of its weapon systems that had been burned away, leaving only the ship’s spinal mounted QD.
While the DD4’s activated their interdiction fields the LHA class ships began to sweep their directed interdiction beams around them in a random pattern while the Gunships began scanning the Red’s ship formations.
