Approved Character Kheyzat Miir

I love it!

Approved!

Where shall we put their system on the map?

Wow. I was expecting to have to make changes or at least see some discussion.

Talk about an ego boost.

I was thinking 80-90ish lightyears east(?) of Yamatai. Somewhere above Himitsu Star Fortress.

Added to the Star Map.

Wait.

An entirely new race, planet and everything? Just like that?

Not to mention it's a PC race?

Great submission and all, but ... that's just ... you're adding an entirely new element to the RP without so much as a blink of an eye! It's reckless and irresponsible! You couldn't even ask your admin staff about it?

I would suggest that there's not really any potential for upsetting existing orders with this race. At all. There's a better chance of Atilla the Hun conquering Nepleslia with an army of the undead.

...the Mishhu can't make zombie armies can they?

Also their planet is called Nasidh Miir.

Hm... not that I don't want to step on Doshii's toes, but I really like this race idea. I might not approve of Wes' insta-approve ideals, but I think that this race would've been approved anyways in the long run.

Also, the Azorean wiki format inspired this? Cool. I think I got half from the Sourcians and half from the Freespacers... but if it is such a good format, then should we use it as a standard for all future races, both PC and NPC?

Edit: Blah, ninja Orion post! Technically, zombies do exist on the setting! *pokes Luca and his craaaaaaaaaazy Pheonix plot*

The Azorean format didn't inspire it so much as guide it. My inspiration initially came from playing a conquest match against my cousin in Rise of Nations on a Sahara map.

Then a day later I watched Lawrence of Arabia.

And I was like, 'Ooh, a kind of violent infighting desert race would be cool for RPing.'

I used the Azoreans as a model for what a race writeup should look like though. It made me think about things I otherwise never would have considered.

It's not stepping on my toes, Fay. Don't sweat it.

I realize that, in practical terms, the submission changes very, very little about the scape of the SARP in general. I also think it's a great submission.

It's the principals of it all. It's an entirely new race, with a new planet, and it's a PC race to boot. The possibilities of players trying to get that race into the mainstream of the SARP, of trying to branch out to other races and interact with them, how the race could be seen by other empires in general — there's a huge potential impact. Yet no discussion at all about that took place.

There's also the fact that now you're a Faction Manager. You get rights and responsibilities with that position. What if you leave the site again for reasons justified or not, and players are left in the lurch? Sekiko did that, and though no players were under her, she hurt a plot by doing so.

It shows a cavalier attitude on your part, Wes, to just approve this. Yes, you could've brought it to your admins and they might have rejected the submission for any number of reasons. It would have caused the contribution's death, possibly upset a talented player, and caused general malaise. Instead we're now signed up for a race that, for reasons justified or no, could freeze up in a few months.

It's irritating, but it's the norm for this site. So I don't expect anything done about it. And now that I've said my piece, I'll actually shut up.

I figure until Orion finds at least a Co-FM, the race will be portrayed as an NPC race.

I certainly understand your sentiments.

I'd just like to point out that I am not Sekiko, even if she was my only connection with SA the first couple months. I was not particularly reliable on the Yggdrasil plot, I will admit. (I was dragged reluctantly into it by Seki, and never really clicked with my character - or any of the others for that matter.)

Otherwise, I've spent my time here primarily attempting - with very limited success - to breathe life into Elysia. Wherever there's been an attempted Elysian plot I've done whatever I could to work with it. More than anything, I wanted to try something new. I'd been playing with the concept for the race for awhile, I decided to clean it up, clarify things, submit it.

I'd not have been offended at all if there was issue taken. Or prolonged discussion. Or whatever. I went in expecting it, actually.

I see, Orion. I'm glad you haven't taken offense — none was meant, and I realize Seki was not the best example to use. My apologies.

This isn't meant to be a character attack on you, so everyone's clear. I would bring these issues up about anyone who had been gone for long periods of time and only recently come back. So it isn't you. I wouldn't do that to a fellow Washingtonian. *grins*

So the race will be NPC for now, that's something. I guess I've got no other real objections.

I'm actually not a Washingtonian natively. I'm Québécois. French as a first language and everything.

I'll alert you all when I've found a co-FM.

You live in Washington and you like it, right? That makes you Washingtonian. We're very liberal with who we give that status to — unless you're Californian. Then you're a Californian irritatingly occupying space in our state.

Then I guess I am Washingtonian. I hate California enough.

Here I was thinking that knowing how to drive in the rain and not panicking about 3 inches of snow disqualified me.

Pssssssssssssssshhhhhhh! When the snow gets to 8 feet, then you should start worrying. :P Other then that, I'm apparently not a 'true' Washingtonian. Even though I was born here, I don't like seafood/shellfish too much. Neither does my mom, who was also born here, so a woman told her that she wasn't a 'true' Washingtonian.
