Distinguishing Features:
She wears two swords -- a tachi and a wakizashi -- when not on primary duty. Her short ponytail as well stands out among the samurai, who normally keep their hair long. She also has a manufacturer's tattoo.
Psychological Characteristics
Personality:
Mature. She's lasted a long time, after all, in combat and out. Her primary fighting style, Sora-Mai, reflects her fighting desires -- confuse the enemy and let them destroy themselves. She takes her duty seriously, but not without heart. Honor, after all, is more than killing one's foe.
Kosuka has a soft spot for the younger samurai, especially those in training. It's a motherly streak in her. She is also not overly fond of starships.
Likes: Calligraphy, hiking.
Dislikes: Action without purpose. Talk without meaning.
Goals: To continue to serve the Empire.
History
Kosuka was an NH-22M, mid-production run. She served with dedication and trained well enough to qualify as a samurai. The honor was accepted, and she served a one-year tour of duty in the 2nd War Fleet, acting as the guard for a prominent Chusa. Though her service was relatively unmentionable, she was offered a position as one of the Palace guard after she asked to be based planet-side. She accepted this as well.
After about one year as a Palace guard she was promoted to stealth sentinel, roving the palace grounds under active camoflauge.
That changed after little more than a few months, when she was asked to be the yojimbo of Ketsurui Hanako, freshly installed as commander of the venerable YSS Sakura. The position was both terrible and important in Kosuka's life -- she became much closer to her youngling, Ketsurui Kotori, fought in the invasion of PNUgen, and nearly died during a battle with the Black Spiral. However, when her youngling was transferred to SAINT -- a move she did not approve of -- she returned to her position as a stealth sentinel.
Skills
Fighting: All Ketsurui Samurai are masters of melee combat. Each is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons Kosuka is an expert in include energy pistols, swords, spears, staves, knives, and power armor. Ketsurui Samurai are also trained with grenades, rifles, machine-guns, and a variety of randomized exotic weaponry. Kosuka is particularly skilled with her tachi, which is well suited for the Sora-Mai. She also is profecient with her built-in energy manipulation.
Communication: Kosuka is familiar with radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through telepathy, starships, and power armor, under any conditions.
Information technology: Kosuka is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. She is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.
Knowledge: All Ketsurui Samurai are familiar with the laws of the Yamatai Star Empire.
Language: Kosuka is very fluent in English and Japanese, and calligraphy of both. She prefers Japanese calligraphy.
