Submission Type: Technology, component
Submission URL: LA-AM-G3800 "Vulcan" Plasma/Aether Solenoid Accelerator

Faction: Lazarus Consortium, DATASS signees, loyal customers
FM Approved Yet? Yes
Faction requires art? No

For Reviewers:
Contains Unapproved Sub-Articles?: Yes: Solenoid Supercharger
Contains New art? No.
Previously Submitted? Nope

Notes: It is a component that other weapons are constructed from or is incorporated as an integrated weapon in a unit which meets its other requirements (power-source, ammunition, ammunition feeder, cooler, computer control, etc). Its basically a glorified linear accelerator about the size of a fore-arm with lots of plugs for cables and stuff. Its basically special electromagnets, radiators and special capacitors.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
A little confused, though mostly this is a great article.

If we're firing solenoid rounds, how is plasma and aether factored in? Purely the power source? Is it somehow "sheathing" the solenoid much as Yamatai does with its own rounds (though it uses subspace envelopes).

The solenoid is a pipe, cable or tubing for delivering shot from another source within a unit, like a line connected to the point with the solenoid supercharger further accelerating it and the Vulcan being a weaponizer/compressor. Solenoid is not a round-type but a system component.

Solenoids, if you look them up are...

A special combination of pulse-channel and transmission fibre used to push high-power weaponised outputs from a weapons-system. It does not act as the weapons-system itself but is used in propelling the round, be it solid (not unlike a railgun or pressure-harpoon), particle (plasma), packet or aether from a projection source inside the unit. They are commonly fitted into hands.

but I see the mistake: I should have mentioned transmission fibre (Serving as the circulatory and central-nervous-system of the substrate. Connected to components. Self-routing, self-healing, self-managing and self-optimising) to clarify and keep things clear.

This weapon component already exists in the setting; this is a new application of it. Therefore.

This submission is approved for IC usage.
