Legalese: Shareholders, patents, lobbying, cease and desist, controlled/banned tech, etc?

Hey SARP,

I'm wondering how this sort of thing works in the SARP and how jurisdiction differs in different nations.

I'm basically asking those of you who play companies to explain how you personally do things -- and those of you who play nations deal with controlled technologies, different laws about what companies are/aren't, etc, etc?

Mind explaining?

Thanks SARP :3

Well, Yamatai has a list of restricted technologies. So a Yamatai based company has to abide by that list. eg: Aether weapons can only be manufactured with permission from the Empire, and only sold to the SAOY. Other technologies like Hemosynth Reconstruction Tubes, only KE can manufacture them, and only Military or Government organizations may have access to the technology.

One example is the Ge-Z1 Torpedo made by Geshrinari Shipyards. They make eight different warheads, but there are two that are restricted. They only sell the Ge-Z1-8a Aether to the SAOY, and the Ge-Z1-2a Anti-Matter to SAOY or Governments. They do not sell that torpedo to private individuals or businesses.

In the Abwehran Star Empire, Aether Technology is illegal to own and operate in the civilian setting. Aether Technology in contrast, isn't used by the military due to a lack of necessity. Fusion and solar-charged batteries are king in space construction, while ground power facilities use geo-thermal, wind, tidal/water, and solar to get the job done.

Antimatter is strictly a military, medical, and research-only material. Nuclear weapons and technologies are restricted on planetary scales and fusion reactors that are used on planets have multiple redundant safety features to keep accidents from happening.

Manufacturing of weapons are also restricted with the company having to submit to an audit every quarter to ensure the weapons go to their intended purchaser. This also includes the new weapon retailers that would have been popping up due to the most recent Constitutional Amendment that lifts the Constitutional restriction of firearms to civilians only in the colonial areas.

Contract Laws are simple, even a verbal contract is legally binding if recorded. However, large organizations prefer written/typed contracts to feed the bureaucracy (for the triplicate records and stuff). A contract is highly important to the Abwehran businessperson and breakage of said contract can lead to serious --- repercussions.
