Lion News Network [LNN] Waking Dogs Destroyed! Children Returned Home!

From the Lion News Network on Leo Station.

A Lion News Report
BREAKING NEWS

This story - Missing and kidnapped children found, the Waking Dogs crushed and disbanded!

The Lion News introductory theme played out, introducing the particular members of the Lion News anchor team. Words like a 'Galactic Events', 'Disasters', and 'Breaking News' flashed over the screen, with similar screen-caps. All of this seemed induce a certain amount of credibility though there was only so much a border-colony space station could report. The roving colors and graphical effects eventually panned aside, as a news ticker pulled in on the bottom end of the screen, with a large lion-head icon perioded on the end.

There were a pair of News Anchors, one a brunette with a dark blue furisode, the other a blond with a bubblegum pink furisode.

The blonde anchor spoke first, her smile beaming, "Good morning, Leo Station, I'm Yuusei Yonoko!"

"And, I'm pissed off," grumped the other, staring at her knees. Yonoko made an obvious frown.

"Why are you so angry, Akechi-chan?"

Akechi-chan glanced up sheepishly at the camera. "Because last night I got woke up by a lot of gunfire! The news this morning is that one of the gangs in the neighborhood I reside in was completely destroyed during the night!"

"That's right, last night, the Waking Dogs, a local criminal organization long-sought after by the Peacekeepers of Leo Station, were found to be disbanded after their base was almost utterly destroyed!" continued Yonoko excitedly, looking at the cameras as well, "People speculate that the Peacekeepers went all out in unusual act of force! Reports, however, indicate otherwise!"

"I heard it was the mafia," Akechi provided, turning to Yonoko. "An act of retribution for some sort of slight against their leader. That sort of thing can turn really ugly, you know?"

"It sure can, and as a matter of fact, Mafia elements were used in a public strike against the Waking Dogs. Yet, that's not even the strangest part! Most people report explosions and gunfire even before the Peacekeepers were moving openly. That's kind of spooky, isn't it, Akechi-chan?" Yonoko said, bubbly as ever, turning to her compatriot.

Akechi made a broad, almost theatrical sweep with her long, blue sleeve, looking entirely off-screen in forlorn, dramatic fashion. "Who could it have been?"

"This reputable news network has reason to believe it was none other than the Star Army!" Yonoko announced, throwing her arm in a giddy fashion out the other direction, in a more dramatic fashion.

Someone struck a taiko drum somewhere, and a chime, and both reporters returned to their conversation. Akechi first; "That's right, isn't it? But that can't be possible. The Star Army is pretty, you know, loud, isn't it?"

"That's true! Akechi-chan, the Star Army is often known for the brusque manner that it uses to handle most situations, but this reputable news network has reason to believe that the Star Army was working together with the Peacekeepers!" Yonoko's bouncy hair jumped a little bit, as she shook side to side, with that ever excited look on her face. "But that's not even the greatest part!"

"Oh?" asked Akechi, propping the side of her head on her hand.

"Do you know what the Waking Dogs are known, for Akechi-chan?" asked Yonoko.

"Shitty hair-band music?"

Yonoko whipped out a fan and struck Akechi on the head, "Wrong!"

"Oof." Akechi shielded her noggin from further blows with her arms. "Is it child pornography? I didn't read the notes! Producers, forgive me!"

"Akechi-chan should take her job more seriously!" pouted Yonoko, as off-screen laughter played in the background, "No! The Waking Dogs are known for kidnapping children, and using them in pit-fights!"

Akechi started lowering her arms, suspiciously. "Didn't your little sister get kidnapped? I mean, she's home now right?"

A tear rose to the edge of Anchorwoman Yuusei's eye, and she wiped with a happy smile, "Yes, thank goodness, which brings us to the most heatwarming part of our story! Last night, around twenty-two, a shuttle was found parked in front the Peacekeeper Station. Inside was missing person Linda Seymour, an accountant from a local law firm, and all of the missing children from the past year!"

"Wow. So nobody really got a look at the people who freed them? Were we able to get interviews?"

"When asked, even the children said that all of their rescuers were wearing masks and suits! However, there were reports of one of them being unmasked, a green-haired woman with cat-ears!"

Akechi put her hands up on her head and curled her fingers. "Meow meow?"

"Yes! Just like a Neko, Akechi-chan!"

Akechi tilted her head to the right, then the left, pretending to be a cat for the camera. "Looks like the Star Army after all, doesn't it, hu?"

"That's right! By order of Yamataian Star Empire law, only the Star Empire and her organziation, militaries, and public companies can host and employ Nekos!" said Yonoko in a very official, and very straight-forward tone.
