Log in problem

Alright, I've had this problem for quite a long time, but now seems a good time to deal with it, especially if other people have the problem.

For a long time I used the auto-log in function of SA, it was easy and convenient, and of course saved me from endlessly typing in my SN and Password.

However for quite some time whenever I do this I get to that special menu on the home page, but when I press on the 'proceed to forums' link, I am automatically logged off, however the computer shows as if I have logged on. To explain, my name appears at the bottom, but I'm not logged on. I can tell easily because I use the old Forum Layout, but it appears in the new.

This wouldn't be so much of a problem, but after I log in from this stage, new things don't show up, so I can't tell if anyone has posted. This is bothersome.

I was just wondering if anyone knew why this was happening, or was having a similar problem. Currently I'm having to log in manually, which is so much more arduous.
 
Since it looks like you just moved to Firefox, I have the same problem. I don't see my name at the bottom, but when I type in my information and after it says that I've logged in, I go back to the forums and it's in the new layout: I'm not logged in.

I figured it was something to do with cookies, but the other forums I visit work fine, so I wasn't sure (read: too lazy to fix it). I've just been using IE only for SA and Firefox for everything else, but that's obviously annoying. I suppose there's some option I need to check.
 
I'm not deleting my cookies routinely, and unfortunatly I'm still using IE. I'm looking into getting Fire Fox now actually.

Alright, I now have Fire Fox, and have much the same problem, except that now I don't even get that option on the main menu that includes my avatar picture. Ah well, at least it remembers my name and password to make logging in a little easier.
 
I had the same problem. I believe it is a problem with the forum code, rather than Firefox or IE, since some people, including me, log in to other forums just fine.

My work-around for logging in: before you log in, go to any thread besides those in "Your Questions Answered", pretend to reply to the thread. The forum will request your ID and password. After you type them in and get taken to the reply screen, exit out by clicking on "Star Army Forum Index". Ta-daa. You're logged in, and all the new/modified sections and threads show up in glorius red. :)
