Making Babies

So I'm now curious to a few biological questions. Children 13 and under, poke your eyes and rip your ears off now.

1) Can a Yamataian and a Neko have kids through sexual intercourse? I know Neko and Neko can do it through some crazy system. But I was curious about (either male or female) Yamataian and Neko since I've not heard anything about it.

2) Can a Yamataian and a Nepleslian have kids through sexual intercourse? Again, never heard of it but doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done.

3) What are some typical "The stork delivers babies"-type answers in SARP?

Yes and Yes on 1 and 2. Nekos reproduce by basically inputting the genetic code, and they're capable of adding in a separate string of DNA to draw from. I think Yamataians basically work like people though, with a slightly shorter gestation period if I recall.

As to the third, I have no idea.

1)

Nekovalkyrja can 'reproduce' by self-cloning themselves within their own womb. This forms a nekovalkyrja youngling, which takes 3 weeks to form inside the womb, is born, and then takes 3 months to grow to adult stature. This method of creating offsprings is viewed by most as the ability to create extra soldiers to replenish or create an armed force at need and isn't intended to be for the more 'human' purpose of childbearing.

Still, the NH-29 series nekovalkyrja have gained the ability to alter the looks of their youngling offpsring based on the DNA of a chosen partner (be it a he, she, nepleslian, human, neko, Elysian, etc...). The neko needs to visit a medical institution (or her ship's medlab) and communicate her desire to the doctors whom will then observe a sample of the chosen partner's DNA data, record it, and program it into the NH-29's OS via her SPINE interface.

From there, the neko gets 'extra sliders' and 'color swatches' to customize her upcoming offspring to match those extra options provided beyond her own DNA.

That's how it's supposed to work. Nekos on their own presently cannot make any use from a man's, ah, contribution by herself. You may have seen something different in another plot, but that's a GM's perogative.

2)

Yamataians and Nepleslian are sexually compatible and can have babies. The race of the babe would depend on the mother's race.

So Fred, if I'm understanding this correctly. That means a Yamataian and Neko can have unlimited sexual intercourse with no chance of pregnancy?

On that note, are there Yamataian/Neko STDs. Or for that to apply to a Neko would it have to be a STCV (Sexually Transmitted Computer Virus)?

The Neko/Yamataian disease/poison resistance/immunities is highly inconsistent since we have Mishhu toxins go around them... but for what it's worth, the disease resistance probably serves fairly well to avoid sexually-transmitted diseases, yeah.

That'd be a nasty thing to do, yeah? Mishhu introducing an STI into the Yamataian population. It'd be the Third Plague.

Mishhu Procurement Department: F-f-f-fund it!

They also come in Nepleslian Military Ration boxes too, but very rarely.

So whenever someone gets a Manly Meat Roll, someone else becomes a father.

So, like Dwarven women, they just spring out of the ground, eh? Good to know.

What about say a Yamataian and an Abwehran? Or a Nepleslian and an Elysian? Or a Lorath and an Iroma?

Elysians... Well, I can't recall if it ever came up, actually. I'm going to go ahead and say that they work the same as the Yamataians, in terms of kids. Mother determines race. I'll edit this as soon as I've had a chance to talk to Wes about it though.

While the act of making babies for Abwehrans is similar to other humanoids, there's a lot of things different in the process between conception and birth.

I should probably get off my ass and put that on the wiki, but schooling, work, and the 69th plot come first.
