YE 36, UCT "Masako's Malicious Madhouse" Course

Training Cycle YE 36-555

Sheela looked out the troop transport view ports, along with the other trainees as they traveled along the road heading out to the infamous UCT Course. She listened in to the various conversations going on around her. And not all of them were repeating the rumors from previous troops that had faced the dreaded UCt course.

It felt like when she went to boot camp, which seamed an eon ago, when she was just 18 and now she was 30 mousian years old. She looked at all the youngsters, who was just in the age bracket around 18, plus or minus, she was when she went to basic back in her star empire before it fell.

She sighed softly, not letting those who was placed under her command hear her. She was placed in-charge of an re-enforced fire team of 6 personnel, Herself making number 7 of the fire team.

~~ How bad can it be? Who is this Masako? Did she really wish that the Trainees to get killed?~~ She thought. Even it was simulated kill, but it would hurt for those that got hit by the training placed gun systems. ~~Bio organics against programmed machines and the odd instructor....~~~ "Squeeeeee... She softly muttered.

"What's got you worried?" The soldier sitting next to asked her, when she let out a sound.

"The UCT course. Is it as bad as the others are saying?" Sheela asked him, softly, just loud enough to be heard over clanking of the tracks and engine of the troop transport.

"Non ever survive it, yet, Team Leader." He smiled at her, "I feel lucky. Ever since you became the Trainee Team Leader, we've had one success after another." He liked Swiftpaws.

Even though she was older and had trouble keeping up at first with the younger generation, she showed a lot of spunk and battle experience, even though she never talked about her past. But kept the Fire Team "Mouse's Marauders" in the high marks through each battle maneuvers with her knowledge.

::Control Room/ Range Tower UCT ::

"Whose on the agenda to get slaughtered?" asked the Joto-Hei to his partner.

"a Cruit Enhanced Fire Team calling themselves, "Mouse's Marauders. So far they've gotten very good marks through each Combat course they've taken."

"Time for them to crash and burn?" Joto-Hei at the control, asked his partner and senior to him.
"Just don't make it obvious. you know how them Cruits cry when they get hurt. Besides, ever since Masako ran this place, none have ever made it through to the end." They both grinned evilly at each other, hearing the troop transport come to a stop outside.

: Troop Transport - UCT Range :

The boarding ramp drop with a bang and a cloud of dust, Visors dropped into place and the mad scramble out the back of the transport.

Half the team went to the right and half went to the left and fell onto the ground with T33-C rifles aimed and ready, pointed outward from the transport, Leaving a gap in the perimeter to allow it to leave.

"Squeak One! Bound to closest building! Squeak Two! Shift to cover One!" Sheela covering both teams as they maneuvered, hearing team two fall into place next to her.
She watched half of her team make the first building safely and jumped up and scampered to the building with the rest of her team following her to the first building.

She knew there was only one route through the gauntlet, and that was right up the middle of street lined with houses of varying sizes, which they had to clear all the way to the exit point.

"Squeak one-two!" Swiftpaws motioned her two sub-leaders to her. "Lay smoke in the street and Two, take this house. Then wez toss smoke and take the house across the street, One."

They nodded and got their teams ready. She cooked the smoke grenade off and tossed it underhand as it began to spew smoke.

When the smoke canister hit the ground, Team Two was moving and literally tore the door off the hinge and tossed in a stun grenade.

BOOM! flash of light, windows rattled and the team stormed the entrance into the building. T33-c fire was heard and then silence for a few seconds, "All clear!" It was a single room dwelling.

Sheela and rest of her team, rushed into the cleared building to join up with the rest of her team. She nodded to her Team One as she cooked of another smoke grenade to provide cover.

: Halfway Point :

After several building, Sheela was breathing heavily, spitting out mud and dirt onto the floor, looking at the remaining members of her team. It had been vicious battle to this point. She took a deep drink from her canteen, draining it dry. She sighed softly.

: Control Room :

Itto and the Joto looked at each other, looking surprised at how far they had managed to get, with only two casualties. Five of them remained. "Looks like Ole Masako will have to come back and upgrade the course." Itto spoke and tapped in command to put everything on close circuit tv and pipe it about the base. To include Masako's office.

"That ought to get a rise out of her!" Itto spoke when he was done. They both laughed and resumed watching Mouse's Marauders.

:UCT Halfway Point :

Sheela, within the security of the building, took inventory of the remaining munitions they had and split up evenly amongst the remaining troops. There wasn't enough ammo to finish out the course.

They had been very aggressive and burned needless ammo when less would have been better. Non of them were feeling lucky. All were tired and it went bone deep.

They looked at each other with determined looks, daring each other to quit with looks. Looking at Sheela, the oldest of the group by almost double in age. She stared right back, "Wez are losing battle momentum, My Micelings!"

"Mouse's Marauders!" They yelled and policed up their trash and securing their gear. "We Don't Quit!"

Sheela felt the boost and warmth fill her as she outlined the next few sorties with a change of battle plan. "Make sure yooz shots count." Looking at each of them.

They exited out the building, through the window into the space between the buildings on the same side of the street. Two of them making stirrups of their hand and boosting the first one quietly into the room. Helping each other into the new building, till they was all in began to clear the building, using stealth and speed.

"All clear," the Neko spoke softly as Sheela placed one in over-watch position, rest moving down to street level to get the one across the street.

Sheela lead the way across the street through the obstacle, rushing from cover and concealment in 3 to five seconds rushes to the new building.

Bang! Another of her team dropped to sniper. Over-watch shot back as the sniper killed another of them while crossing. But her over-watch had killed the sniper.

Sheela knew her team was combat ineffective as more than half of her team was eliminated. She could call forfeit with honor or die to the last species. She looked at the Neko and Nessy as he joined her and the Neko.

But there was just two building left and the three. All sore, tired, dirty, itchy, sweaty, and getting frustrated, yet determined to fight to the last species.

"Yooz call... wez go down in a blaze of glory for the Empire? Or call in the forfeit?" Sheela knew she was committing the cardinal sin of using a vote in dictatorship society of the military. But she wanted honest input from her remaining troops.

"It's "Do or Die, Mouse," The Nessy spoke, determined to forge ahead in a blaze of glory.

Neko just nodded towards the Nessy, in agreement. Eyes blazed in determination

"Wez have one asset to use. Artillery to lay in smoke for concealment." Sheela spoke softly, peeking out of the building to appraise the situation.

"I don't think we're allowed to call in artillery..." Nessy spoke, next to her looking over the situation with her.

"This war! Wez make the rules. wez are fighting, not them!" Sheela growled, sliding back as she pulled out a map of the area and finding their location on it, using navigation techniques. "can we call in artillery on the squad radios?" remembering passing an Artillery Range in use.

"Channel two on the squad radio," Nessy spoke with trepidation, as the Neko's eyes widen in realization what Sheela was up to.

"Oh no!" Neko broke her self imposed silence, since Sheela was chosen as leader for the duration of battle maneuvers. "We'll end up in the Stockade for life!"

Nessy looked sick to his stomach, when the Neko spoke, realizing also Sheela intended. "we can do it without artillery, Swiftpaws."

"It's just smoke wez calling in. Not explosive rounds," Sheela pulled out her radio and switched to channel two as the both of them attacked her to get the radio from her.

The fight was down and dirty. Youth and speed versus hard won experience and skill. Sheela felt bad at defeating her two squad mates. At least they was unconscious and in a safe place.

:: Artillery Range ::

Gun 5 was struggling all day to hit their target when the call came in. Their Gun captain looked puzzled and tried to report the call to their Range Cadre.

"Just shoot it!" Cadre Instructor yelled at the poor unfortunate Gun captain. "Maybe you'll hit something!"

Gun Captain turn red in embarrassment and scurried off to fulfill the called in fire mission.

:: UCT Range ::

The whistle of the incoming shells, Sheela dove for cover and jumped from the tremors of the high explosive shells. She peeked out at the results of the fire mission. The Last two houses were gone and two craters to mark the spot.

"Yooz Idiots! Iz said smoke! Smoke! Yooz speak Yamataian?" Sheela yelled after she had gotten the Gun Team on the radio.

"we don't have smoke. Just High explosive rounds." The Gun captain came back over the radio.

"Oh squeakies...." Sheela whimpered over the air. Shutting the radio off.

Sheela stood up and exited the building she used for cover. Headed to the exit, followed by the two remaining squad members.

Sheela handed over her weapons to them once they crossed the exit to the range as all sorts of vehicles arrived at the UCT range.

"Been fun, leading yooz guys." Sheela spoke weakly to them. "Iz take all blame."

They just numbly took her gear and simply nodded. Eyes wide, turning back to the smoking craters that once were buildings.

Unknowingly, Gun 5 dropped two HE with surprising accuracy, which they will find out later once the news hit the grapevine.

Masako Malicious Madhouse finally met it's match and was defeated by a Mousian, Neko, and a Nessy...
