Facial Features and Eye Colour: Akeno’s eyes are a golden color that seems almost unnatural to Nepleslians. His face is handsome in a regal and refined sort of way, his age not showing in his face, he maintains a mature, youthful appearance overall.
Hair Colour and Style: Akeno’s hair is a light brown color and has a feathered look to it as it gently curves back over his head, tapering to a point at the nape of the neck.

Distinguishing Features: A scar on the back of his right hand from an old training accident.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality: A good-natured man who isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in, conscientious of others and considerate. Akeno loves children and he is naturally compassionate and courageous. But Akeno doesn’t like to really fight that much, as it kind of makes more work for him as a physician, but he isn’t afraid to protect those he cares about. Akeno’s generally calm and not easy to rile up into acting without thought, understanding the necessity to put thought before reckless action. He might dislike killing, Akeno will put that aside and slay anyone that threatens his children. Though he is admittedly a bit of a hopeless romantic, but he’s also wise and intellectual.
Likes: Peace, medicine, knowledge, the possibility of having a nice home on Jiyuu, nekos.
Dislikes: Killing, being lonely, having to constantly travel.
Goals: Akeno has several: 1) is to find a mother or mother-figure for his three kids. 2) is to live peacefully.

History Akeno was born on Yamatai to two Nepleslian parents that had been living there for years. His father was a military doctor until the species restriction act, at that point he retired back to civilian life to help his wife and son run a small general store in Tania. But when Akeno was 16, he decided to join the military himself, in an attempt to assert his own independence-or so he told his family. But the actual reason was that he had followed a girl he’d fallen for when she joined; they had been good friends and the bond was strong between them. Originally, he started off as a technical sentry, a rank and file soldier.

After a few years, and around the age of 21, he married his long time friend after many years of pursuit and playful teasing by her. She was a powerful woman, always training herself and proved to be vicious in battle and showed no mercy to her enemies. However, the injuries she’d taken over the course of the years would build up and in the end, claimed her life at the age of 26, during the birth of their twins. She left her husband a father to a daughter and newly born twin boys. Deciding that he could no longer stay a tech sentry, he took up the mantle of a doctor and fervently studied to be the best one he could be, his little daughter would also pick up the medical texts to follow him.

When the species restriction act came into effect, Akeno was discharged from the military because he refused to change species for personal reasons. However, when it was thrown out, he’d join the military because it held the most pleasant memories for him. But his motivations ran deeper than that, it was also the military his wife loved to serve in and had devoted her life to. In Akeno’s mind, it was a matter of honor and pride to once again stand in a position to not only help himself, but to help others in their times of need.

Skills

Communications: Akeno is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Akeno is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. He can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.

Fighting: Akeno received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. He is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons he is trained in include energy pistols, knives, swords, energy rifles, and power armor.

Technology Operation: Akeno is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. He is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Mathematics: Masurao received basic mathematics training, to including up to algebra and trigonometry.

Medical: As a practicing physician, Akeno is very well educated and capable when it comes to medical knowledge and practice. He is fully capable of treating yamataians, nepleslians and nekovalkyrja as the necessity arises; but he’s not a master of treating the nekos, but he’s learning more about it. He however, can perform all forms of first aid and triage though.

Maintenance and Repair: A left over from his days as a technical sentry, he was trained on handling up to moderate repairs on the ships he was on. He hasn’t practiced it in a long time though and may be a little rusty but he is capable and fully trained to do so.

Domestics: As a father, Akeno is has vast knowledge of domestic affairs as well as anyone else.

Entertainment: This stems from the need to provide entertainment for is own children, Akeno is good at spinning tales for their amusement.

Note: Akeno has 8 skills because his 8th skill pertains to having to raise his children.

Hmm... the 8 skills has me leery but it makes sense and it's not over-powered in any sense.

Couple questions: what did he do when he was forced out of SAoY for those 2 years as a civilian?

Second question: Who's watching his kids while he's deployed?

But you definately have some veteran status to have the higher than starting rank and he is replacing your Elysian. So long as you can keep up without getting burned out. I'm all for this new guy. We need some more parents and older folk (characters) in the SAoY.

I would like to point out to any new players that this is atypical and should not be considered a standard bio to emulate for a first time player.

I just noted one thing. In the dislikes, you noted he hates traveling a lot and killing. In that case, why would he join the military? As a military brat, I think I can safely say that is almost the essence of military forces.

@ Kim: Akeno leaves them with his mother in Tania when he's deployed. And while he was a civilian during those 2 years, he lived there in Tania as a mechanic and physician of sorts.

@ Aendri: Well he felt like he'd seen enough killing as a technical sentry, when his wife died; he decided to join again when the restriction was lifted to honor her memory. But this time, he'd join as a medical officer instead of a technical sentry.

All righty, Tyler.
