[Material] Meridium

What is the intention for Meridium that cannot be accomplished by Durandium or Nerimium?
 
To be an alternative. At current, we either mix the two materials in the creation process or we use a single one. We spent a fair amount of time discussing this on the Nep IRC and what needs it fills. The consensus was that it wouldn't hurt to have a medium armor to fill the gap between the light Durandium and the heavy Nerimium.
 
I'm not against the idea of a new material, but normally we do just that; mix some Durandium to make it thicker, or dilute some mass-y Nerimium to reduce the weight to something manageable. Currently, at least on our armorsuits, we just have durandium with thin Nerimium plates over the vital areas.

Would the introduction of this new material warrant a restructuring of all of our equipment to include the medium-weight alloy?
