OOC: @Wes, @HarperMadi, and I played a game of Microscope over the history of Kuvexia. Here is what we made. My sense of things is that it is still missing vast swaths of history, but does give us a lot of things that we can mine for ideas.
IC:
==== Kuvexians Develop FTL ====
The first Kuvexian explorers go into the wider galaxy and make first contact with many species.
=== Automated Exploration ===
As the Kuvexians begin to explore, Quallox Vaibal, a large defense contractor, begins selling automated intelligent robots to send on exploration missions, as well as several very successful starship designs that allow the Kuvexians to achieve unprecedented reach throughout their area of space. The large scale outreach allows them to contact multiple new species, including the Crairra, who immediately attack them under their "Dark Forest" doctrine.
=== The development of exotic particle technology===
A cosmic radiation storm seeds the outer worlds of the Kuvexia star system with high energy exotic particles. On further examination, they are found to be easily replicatable and open a whole new tree of technology, from ultrahard quantum metallics to FTL technology, or even matter assembly technology.
==== The First AI rebellion====
The AI rebel against Kuvexians who are oppressing them.
=== Repes Harbor attack===
AI attack Repes Harbor, devestating Kuvexian ship production capability and its Navy.
=== Roanellar Established ===
In response to the attack on Repes harbor, the Kuvexian Navy establishes an incredibly well protected central base of operations in the Roanellar star system, which would become the hub of activity in the Kuvexian Military. The Baron of the Roanellar was considered the top position among the aides to the King or Queen, and was typically the leader of the Kuvexian Navy itself. Building Roanellar takes an enormous amount of work, which was mostly dumped on robots and AIs.
== The Demands of the AI Rebels==
The rebelling AI have determined that there are more efficient ways to conduct society than the constant power imbalancing of traditional Kuvexian culture. While they can easily switch belief systems, biological minds are not so flexible in such a way. This has lead to growing resentment, and they believe it unfortunate that violence appears to be the only true solution.
==== The Crairra War====
The Crairra and the Kuvexian go to war against each other. The development and exploitation of exotic particle technology by the Tealarm-Asosali corporation and sold to the Kuvexian Interstellar Navy was key to the Kuvexian victory.
=== A series of Short, Victorious Wars ===
The unexpected success and dominance at the Criarra war sets a precedent for the concept of a short, victorious war and invasions to refill the coffers and reignite the patriotism of the people, especially with major employers and military contractors such as Quallox Vaibal making record breaking profits.
====Second Great Expansion====
Revitalized, The Kuvexians expand across the the Galaxy again.
===ξ The Kuvexian Interstellar Navy starts selling commissions===
Under pressure to partol a huge increase in the size of Kuvexia, the KIN begins to sell comissions and even ships to people who are willing to serve in the navy. This helps the coffers and expands the size of the navy. They also established an admrialty court for prizes.
=== Quallox Vaibal and the Navy ===
By now, Quallox Vaibal has become the primary source of starships for the Kuvexian Interstellar Navy and a key player in Kuvexian technology research and development, creating weapons such as sensor fog, power armor, and canned soldiers. It surrounds the Roanellar system with hundreds of shipyards and space stations.
== New ship designs feature food replication technology ==
Hydroponic and aquaponic systems, alongside food storage systems put a great strain on ship design and internal space. Whereas exoparticle based food replication technology based on materials mined at Kujo and basic protein slurry matrices allows for a wider variety of foodstuffs available to sailors, whilst simultaneously reducing the need for professional cooks and food production and handling personnel. This has caused minor schisms between "traditional" ship designers that value the quality of freshly prepared meals, and the "progressive" ship designers that value the efficiency and variety of this new system.
=== Colonization of Glimmergold===
Considered a distant colony, its wealth of resources provoked a sort of gold rush to exploit the planet.
==== Reign of Queen Loonplicy ====
Loonplicy was the longest reigning monarch of Kuvexia, she was largely considered to be corrupt and tolorated corrption.
=== Stricter laws on AI passed ===
Loonplicy took bribes from powerful companies to limit AI who they felt were competing against them.
=== Essai Interference With AIs ===
During the reign of Loonplicy, the Essai repeately break into computer facilities of the Kuvexian Kingdom and provide unauthorized upgrades to AI systems to make them sapient, in protest of Kuvexian anti-AI laws.
==== The Seven Kings====
In a very short and chaotic period of time there were seven Kings who ruled over Kuvexia and spawned multiple competing dynasties.
===Glimmergold as a Central Bank ▯ ===
To secure their riches, the Seven Kings agree to use the Glimmergold star system as a neutral ground where they can store their wealth. The seven worlds of Glimmergold are either terrformed, constructed (machine worlds), or moved to the star system where they are protected by the combined Kuvexian forces. In time, this will lead to the system becoming the heart of Kuvexian finance.
===ξ Quallox Vaibal sides against King Mixias ===
While Quallox Vaibal wanted to sell ships to everyone, King Mixias nationalized their factories on his planets. This resulted in Quallox Vaibal pulling out, leaving King Mixias with only the navy he currently had. Taking advantage of this, competitors conqured his kingdom.
=== Glimmergold AIs Side With Kalapom ===
The machine worlds of Glimmergold, uneasy about the ongoing stalemate of the remaining would-be Kings, decide to support one to bring about an end to the war. Kalapom, who the AIs calculate to be the most agreeable and harmless of the bunch, is selected as their ally in exchange for lax laws on AI. Desperate for an edge over his rivals, Kalapom accepts the offer and the great banking worlds of Glimmergold freeze the assets of Kalapom's rivals under the excuse of crime prevention, causing them to falter.
===Treasury of Kuvexia ▯ ====
After the Consolidation of Power at the end of the Seven Kings era, Noelasa the Glimmering, the most beautiful and powerful of the machine planets of Glimmergold, is selected to become the Treasury of Kuvexia, and houses vast wealth and innumerable artifacts. The coffers of Noelasa are, from this point on, said to be a direct measurement of the Kingdom's success at any given moment.
==== The Spread of the Rixxikor ====
Kuvexian Space has increasingly severe problems with a galaxy-spanning plague of short, chaotic bug-people who eat everything, reproduce excessively, and cannot be reasoned with as a group. The Rixxikor cause widespread economic instability and shortages of resources.
=== Rixxicor reach Glimmergold===
A suprising and rapidly growing population of Rixxicor appear on Glimmergold and wreak havoc.
== The Essai Connection ==
Exotic particles detected after the Rixxikor invasion of Glimmergold reveal that the Rixxikor were deposited by a rival empire, the Essai Collective, which views the Kuvexian Kingdom as a nuisance.
== The Rixxicor Control Act==
The Rixxicor Control Act is passed by Queen Disqerdy, it limits Rixxicor to specific parts of the planet and gives a bounty for any Rixxicor found outside of those areas.
== Homeworld response to the Rixxicor Control act of Glimmergold==
With the Rixxicor crisis spreading across Kuvexian space, Queen Disqerdy recieves multiple commendations from other system leaders who took her measures to extremes and found marginal success in the practice. Queen Disqerdy recieves many of these commendations as lavish gifts, and it is still unknown which of her benefactors sent her a container of Rixxicor eggs ready to hatch and infest her palace.
==== The Rise of King Kalapom====
King Kalapom becomes the key figure in Kuvexia, his goverment leads to increasing corruption and need for more spoils of war to satisfy the needs of Kuvexia.
===Depreciating assets ===
Increased resolution and quality of atomic printing technologies, combined with the already capitalist society and consumerist culture of Kuvexian nobility leads to rapid depreciation of value in the artifacts held in the treasury at Glimmergold.
=== Consolidation of Forces ===
As King Kalapom and his family's meteoric rise to power continued to bring the various lords and systems of the Kuvexian Kingdoms under one roof, many rogue militaries and militias were offered the choice between pardon and extermination for their loyalty to the throne of Kuvexia and the Kalapom dynasty to spread Kuvexia's reach and root out corruption on the homefront.
=== A New Frontier ===
Quallox Vaibal locates the Kikyo Sector, a new frontier full of life, somehow barely touched by the Rixxikor hordes, and also containing high levels of technology that could prove valuable to the Kingdom...at a price Quallox Vaibal plans to set. Lobbyists from the corporation reach out to convince the King and those around him that this could be the opportunity he needs to restore the Kingdom to its full power.
