UNN Alyelume - Bridge

Haeun stood with her back leaned up against the right side of the command throne, her arms crossed below the area of where her armor covered her breasts. The armor was intricate, and obviously not made in a fabricator or in a factory - it was about as far from mass produced as could be found. The strange, almost organic-like markings and slight color phase change between black and a dark blue made it unique. The right pauldron was definably different from the left which gave it an even greater ornate quality to it. Her blue hair was neat and arranged, framed by wing-like structures that had been typical on much older versions of norian armors integrated into a glossy black beaded circlet that came to a point at a small glittering gem that matched the glowing medallion with a small blue feather on the chest piece. Her PWR clipped on her back, and the hilt of the construct blade beside it. When the surgeon exited the lift onto the bridge, Haeun didn't move, her head hung down, hair slightly in her face as she said, "This ship appears to have a problem understanding that rebellion doesn't mean forgetting we're all on the same side. Did you forget where you are? Their kind don't like it when we fight among dourselves. Now that the 'civil' part of this war is over, you should save that kind of rage for the enemy, and now that I know you have it. I am going to expect you to use it. You're going to get your chance if the Craethel find us. So how do you feel about that? You ready to be mighty? Cause if you ever attempt to kill another Norian, I will teach you a whole new lesson behind 'reporting for duty'," Her words were sharp, and each cut of their meaning precise and mastered.

When Aphelion and Curunir entered the bridge, Curunir almost took a full step backward. It was her. He knew exactly who she was, what she was and was shocked to see her there on the bridge. Something had changed? He took a deep breath and stepped onto the bridge behind Aphelion. It appeared at least that he had chosen a good place to be on the stage of this play on plays that ran on and on. He expected her to use discretion, that was at least one solace. He noted what he seen and they likely could not, the armband beneath the cowl of her left pauldron. They had arrived just at the right time to hear the end of Haeun's speech to Tenea, and instinctively they both remained completely silent.

Aphelion knew who she was, knew who her parents were but she also knew that Haeun had not been seen in a very long time, long enough that many had theorized that she had joined her brother Seojun in the grave. Yet there she was obviously not lost at all, the armor looked impressive to the former admiral. Was this some kind of custom military issue? If so she was certainly going to have to look into getting one. The word Craethel however stood out, in the bit she had caught when they arrived. Craethel? What did she mean Craethel? It was obvious that she had not heard the most recent news. Like Curunir she stayed quiet, but keenly observing the young Eitan. One way or another the girl meant business.

Nola's Laboratory

The mindhive unlocked Nola's lab, she had talked the entire way from where she had been to there. She probably questioned if the mindhive was even listening up until it unlocked her laboratory as requested. She also patched Nola through to Adrin as requested.

"Captain, I may need higher Authorization to get a better diagnostic report from the system, as I am new to the ship, I would assume you have the highest authority on the ship correct?" she asked as she made it to her Lab and put her things into a storage for the time being and sending a private vesper to the ship "I believe you know these should not be found by anyone but myself.. I will trust their safety to you for the time being till I can come retrieve them once more and look into them" she then cleaned herself up as she waited for reply from the captain for the message she had sent him.

"Adrin here," he responded when he got a free moment from the discussions that were in play on Njord. "Yes, I believe my authority access is the highest..." he paused for a moment in contemplation and then said, "It is likely my son had superior access, he designed the ship so there could be multiple levels of access above mine that we are unaware of? We can talk about your access level when I return from Njord. What progress have you made in terms of diagnosing the issue with the ship? I just hope we can ensure that it is not something severely wrong with the ship's systems or the Leviathan integrated into it." He waited for her response, and in the meantime muted the conversation.

"All items will be considered secure. Unless accessed by someone with a higher authorization than you," Alyelume replied.

UNN Alyelume - Bridge

Tenea knew she was in deep for having severely injured Nola. Though like anyone else, she knew that it would not have been an instant death. If she had known before that Nola was this inept at interacting socially she would have asked Iare to go to engineering in her stead. Iare was much more adept at handling those with mental defects or issues such as those the demented scientist faced. The level of therapy that Nola likely needed to overcome her behavior that had led her to addressing Tenea was immeasurable. In this moment it was neither here nor there.

The surgeon stood still, listening to Haeun's words as she was ripped a new ass hole. Tenea felt the whole weight of what she had done. She attempted to vesper the mindhive, "What I did was a reprehensible horror, it will not happen again. I am sorry Alyelume." What had come over her? Nola was not worth this, she was not worth the trouble. Tenea's head dropped with the weight and severity of Haeun's words. The Volaer's message clearly received by Tenea, she had majorly fucked up.

Nola's Lab

Nola nodded slowly to herself as she cleaned herself up a bit, and grabbed a container of water and placed it in her lab coat, she then also grabbed the box of crackers she did in fact need more food, with that she placed her empty gun on the counter where she had left it before, after all she couldn't bring it with her after all. She then got a reply by Adrin, it would appear he was unaware of the greater access his Granddaughter had, but it seemed he thought that his son had in fact made higher access then his. for now she decided to keep her findings to herself but she could give a light report.

"I will need higher access then I currently have as a new person here I have quite low security access, however I have identified what might have caused the issue, as usual test data tends to be removed to not cause issues with the electronic systems, however I will not know exactly till I have higher access, but what I can tell you is currently it should not cause an issue with Alyelume. This data often includes tests of all systems and sometimes removing the test data can leave fragments of the tests, usually a station with specialists are needed to take the time to deal with the issue, but over all it causes no real issues, none will cause Alyelume issues with keeping us safe so there is no reason to be concerned on that, Thankfully you have a Specialist on your ship who can look into it rather then needing to go to a station with one as it's rare for specialists to be on off station in the first place due to the need of them. I will continue the work to the best of my abilities once you return to grant higher access" one thing Adrin would likely notice was the Vesper from Nola would seem.. clinical, devoid of any emotion, it was pure information, no feeling, until she started to mention more of the Leviathan, then a small spark of interest seemed to flicker in her Vesper communication. But with her report done she ended her Contact with the Captain.

With that report made, and Alyelume not informing her that it was a good time to go yet, Nola simply returned to her lab table and started to work on her notes once more, writing her in code yet again as she would slowly eat the crackers she had been given, as she had little else to eat as of late, though she did remember Alyelume mentioning to her to have a drink so she stopped a moment and took a sip of the water she had with her before resuming.

she then stopped a moment at the security issue and she nodded "Thank you Alyelume I understand you have your obligationss" she Vespered to the Leviathan, a feeling of appreciation in their as well, as understanding. She then returned to her notes and continued her work.

UNN Alyelume - Bridge

Haeun examined the expression on Tenea's face, it was obvious that the woman wished she had gone a different direction. That deed, that lesson was done. There was no sense focusing on it anymore. She watched as the other two entered the bridge. "Curunir, so this is where you disappeared to. I don't know if I should compliment your sense of direction or drag you back by the hair and toss you into a cell until..." she paused, careful with her words, "...until you can be convinced to follow orders." She grinned slightly as she took a few steps toward them. She looked from Tenea, to Curunir and then to Aphelion. "Oh don't worry, I'm not about to relay back to the new UNN Naval Command on Vespa Lakara to report some kind of violation here. I have other interests in this ship. "I doubt they would listen to me anyway, I'm not exactly active duty. Imperial title goes a long way though, you could say I am in a bit of a different line of reporting," She extended a hand toward the terminal she had been working at before they arrived and swept that same hand toward them which had Alyelume give them the latest news, she also sent it to Nola. She knew there was a possibility that she had a bit of a situation herself where she was.

"Thank you doctor, all is well now." Alyelume replied to the surgeon when she apologized.

Curunir folded his hands behind his back, and looked at Haeun. Sure she had berated him but she had broken anything that had been hidden. There was small blessings in whatever it was that had brought her. It was starting to come together, apparently there were more that were soon to be brought into the fold, "I assure you, I will live up to my obligations. I believe I am right where I need to be," he said to her with the same careful wording that she had used.

Aphelion looked between the two, "Right, this is a great time for you to tell us how you got on the ship." She pointed at Haeun, "I know for certain you didn't come through an airlock from Solitude, so how about laying off whatever bullshit game is afoot here?" the former Admiral said as she stepped forward, "If those news reports are correct, this ship is UNN again, should be interesting how they handle that many here have rather shady pasts." She looked at Tenea and gave a bit of a nod, as if to say that she didn't need to feel as badly a she obviously did, "So how about you two get explaining now, and just because you're an Imperial doesn't mean I am not still looking for an answer, its just you may choose to make me pay for it, which is something I will happily accept." She looked around and wondered if anyone among them was capable of being up front with anything.

Nola's Laboratory

Nola would hear the sound of someone clearing their throat behind her. There, in the doorway to her lab, stood a rather tall norian male with long platinum blonde hair that was nearly as white as snow. The man wore black armor, intricate and obviously not made in a fabricator similar to the girl on the bridge. "No doubt I've come in as you've made your report to your Captain, if I am intruding I can wait in the corridor until you are ready for a visitor. There is no rush," he said as he leaned slightly against the door frame, which stopped the doors from closing and sealing shut normally. The interesting part being, it had been shut before he was standing there. He seemed very casual, almost relaxed and yet he seemed informed about what she was doing.

Nola's laboratory

Nola continued her writing for a time, though as she did so she heard someone clear their throat and make themselves known, normally she would have lost herself in her work however she had been expecting some sort of interruption, granted she thought it would come from Alyelume, not a random male walking into the lab, but still that expectation stopped her from getting to lost in her work. as the man spoke she only looked over to him a moment as she popped another cracker into her mouth and chewed a bit, as she studied him.

She sat there looking at the man a while as she finished chewing on the cracker, then she took another sip of water, she at first tried to consider if she had seen him before, then gave up on that as she didn't really know anyone on the ship new or old, the only ones she really knew were the ones she had only just recently met on the bridge. finally she spoke "Technically this lab wasn't assigned to me, I simply moved into it when I realized it had all the equipment I would need, and found out it was vacant, I set up simply because I figured I may need to have a lab up and running to do any duties that fall into my specialty, granted at the time I did ask Aylelume if I could use the room, so likely she had gotten permission from the captain" she said simply as she waved the man in.

She put away the notes she was taking, slipping them into her lab coats inner pockets, she then got the news about the ship and she looked over to the man waiting for him to continue speaking as she popped another cracker into her mouth, she still needed to eat after all, though she would eventually need to find a better source of food then the simple crackers though they would suffice for now.

Though the Information she just gained did cause her to wonder if she would be drafted back into the military, depending on how things got to this point would mean ether that or she would remain a civilian, though technically her specialty may require her to be returned to the military.

UNN Alyelume - Bridge

Iare had entered along with the other two that had arrived, also opting to remain respectfully silent. Tenea had vespered her about the situation and the doctor knew there was some she could do to aid Nola. Though only if Nola chose, which in this case seemed like that would not happen. Nevertheless, Iare's door was open to Nola if medical assistance was requested. However, she was staunchly offended by the scientist's callously inept disrespect of others. She stood next to her sister with calm and respectful stance as she listened to Haeun talk.

Tenea's head raised from its lowered position when she heard Aphelion speak up. "Now I know why you have a big crush on her." she attempted to vesper to Curunir. The nod from Aphelion yielded some relief as did the Alyelume's acceptance of her apology, Tenea attempted to share her response through vesper to the former Admiral as she did not want to risk angering Haeun further. Iare noted that Haeun had addressed Tenea rather harshly given that she now toted veiled threats which could also get her in hot water. Both twins registered that the women speaking were of the same ysi they bore loyalty to, which made things difficult.

"There are a lot of things that seem to be going on under veiled messages. Volaer if there is a price to pay for this answer, I will share in its burden." Iare said in a carefully measured tone. She knew very well from Haeun's behavior that she could lose her head for it. Tenea was cursing in her head, she would not let her sister share in the burden alone. It certainly did not help that the two women in contention were both from the same ysi. "Shit," she thought. "Volaer, I will also share in the burden of a price you may choose to make us pay." she said in a very polite tone.

Nola's Laboratory

The man’s smile deepened as he noticed her still nibbling on the stale crackers his father had given her. There was an ease to his demeanor, an almost playful air as he stepped further into the room, letting the door slide shut behind him.

"If Alyelume gave you permission to use the laboratory, then that’s all the permission you need," he remarked, glancing around the space with mild curiosity. His eyes lingered on the sterile, impersonal surfaces before landing back on her. "No pictures of home? No mementos? If you ask me ~ which, of course, you haven’t ~ I’d suggest maybe a little less time in the lab and a bit more time doing something... fun." His tone carried a light teasing edge, though his steps were deliberate as he moved closer.

“Don’t mind me,” he added in a polite tone, his grin softening as he stepped aside to give her space. He turned his attention briefly to the ship itself. "Alyelume, how are you today?" he asked aloud, addressing the ever-present mindhive with casual familiarity.

The ship’s voice replied promptly, cool and precise as ever. "I am fine. Both my biological and conventional components are operating within normal parameters. Ship’s internal environment is stable, and all crew are accounted for ~ with a few extras."

At this, he shrugged lightly, casting Nola a look that danced on the line between amusement and challenge. "Have you considered that maybe nothing is wrong with her?" he said with a wry smile. His movements were fluid as he circled around her workstation, his presence both nonchalant and commanding. Without waiting for a response, he addressed Alyelume again. "Commit to a biometric scan on me. You can give the results verbally," he instructed, his tone more authoritative now but still tinged with that same quiet confidence. He gave Nola a small nod of reassurance, followed by a subtle wink that seemed to say, Trust me on this.

Alyelume’s response was immediate. "Scan complete. Subject identified. Superuser Sorle Eitan, registry number ending in 878. Imperial Rank: Voli. Son of Teal and Caecyan Eitan, born in Vaalor City, Noria. Listed as inactive since YE 42." Sorle turned back to Nola, his grin now unmistakably amused. "There you go," he said, his gaze locking with hers. "You needed someone with access, and now you have it." His eyes lingered for a moment longer, their expression filled with equal parts mischief and reassurance, before he turned his attention back to the room, as though waiting to see what she would make of this unexpected development.

Bridge

Haeun stood on the platform, her sharp eyes scanning the room like a hawk assessing its prey. Her posture was calm but deliberate, the kind of confidence born from knowing you hold a piece of the puzzle no one else does. She let out a faint, almost musical sigh before responding, her voice smooth but edged with a subtle bite.

"I am here for the same reason you are, Aphelion. Only difference is, I follow a very different chain of command," she said with a faint smirk, her words a carefully measured blend of formality and teasing. "Interesting, isn’t it? A UNN ship, yet I haven’t been UNN for months now. And yet..." she gestured vaguely at the room, her meaning obvious~ "Alyelume seems pretty in tune with what I have to say."

As she continued, her movements were fluid and deliberate, her steps down from the platform almost theatrical in their grace. There was a delicate sway to her figure, an elegance that spoke of precision rather than vanity. "You really shouldn’t have retired," she added, her gaze settling on Aphelion. "Someone with your potential, stepping away so early? A shame." Her tone was lightly mocking, but there was an undercurrent of genuine curiosity.

When she reached the floor, she pointed toward Curunir without hesitation, her expression briefly flickering into something sly. "I got on this ship the same way he did," she said, her voice dropping into a more intimate tone. //"You could have at least made something up, Baid'sh,"// she vespered at him, the private exchange laced with dry amusement.

Her focus shifted to the surgeon, her sharp words now cutting with purpose. "Make you pay?" she echoed, raising an eyebrow. "I already know who the real enemy is. Maybe you should be a little more worried about the price they want to exact."

Curunir’s smile was awkward, his demeanor caught somewhere between defensiveness and reluctant humor. He held his hands up slightly, almost in surrender, but the glint in his eyes suggested he wasn’t as cornered as he seemed. "I was invited on," he said finally, his tone deliberately vague. "Tetsuya left and didn’t come back." He hesitated for a moment, his body language giving nothing away, before adding, "I got here before you, and I was invited." He carefully avoided explaining exactly how he’d physically gotten on board. The last thing he wanted was for anyone to start poking around technology far beyond their understanding. His gaze flicked briefly to Haeun, and for a moment, there was something almost conspiratorial in his look.

Curunir opted not to mention when Haeun had arrived, deciding she had done him a favor by diverting attention, and this was his quiet way of repaying the debt. The room settled into a tense silence, the weight of unspoken truths hanging in the air between them all.

Bridge

Iare making the first statement about payment seemingly went unnoticed as Haeun went at her sister once more. What was it that had been so different in her words versus her sister's? In fact there had not been much difference at all, the message had been the same. Perhaps it was her sister's earlier actions that now made Haeun target Tenea so. Haeun knew something they did not and it seemed she would rather the Craethel win than share something that might help their mission. As there was no winning here Iare remained silently poised.

Tenea was inwardly flabbergasted, betraying no outward emotion. This woman Haeun really had a hard on for her over one broken little neck. No one had actually died. If she was so concerned about the Craethel coming to get them, why was she being a giant bitch about holding secrets? It seemed that this woman really wanted to fuck around while the real enemy she was so intent on making Tenea worry about was out having a ball. As there was no room to make progression here she stayed silent. If Haeun wanted to get off on this one instance than make actual progressive change, then so be it. She caught that conspiratorial gaze Curunir gave towards Haeun and her perspective on him went into the negative as well. It seemed now to her that Haeun and Curunir had no inention of working with people to defeat their enemy, instead it looked like they preferred to face them alone. Which Haeun seemed so confident in doing.

Nola's Lab

She let him talk till he was done, all the while she was slowly eating the crackers she had acquired, Caloric intake was important after all and the rumbling she felt in her stomach told her she had put off acquiring it off far to long, and the man seemed to want to talk for now, when he looked around he would have seen one of the corners behind some desk had been made into a little sleeping corner, proving the girl likely never left the room if not required to. and all the while he spoke her face remained expressionless. Though she was glad to hear the ship was doing well.

Finally the man's identity was revealed and she nodded slowly as she took a sip of water "I see,.. To answer you in order of questions asked, weather you wanted an answer to them or not... I have no pictures of home, I have no mementoes, and while I have not asked you I have come to understand through what interactions I have come across so far that many would inform me on how to do things and what I should do, and while some, as I have learned first hand, would take this as an affront worthy of death, I just see it as comments of people who wish to ether offer aid in some manner or criticize, both of course could be very much helpful if one takes the time to parse the information given from such interactions. As for fun, my work is all I need" she replied that same bored monotone she always had.

"As for the condition of Alyelume, I have never considered anything to be wrong with her, however I was told by a superior to look into what they believed to be issues, considering the looks I had been getting at the time when I was issues said orders I simply attempted to carry them out, also it was a means for me to stay off the planet below so I may spend more time on my research, but at the same time I knew I would at least need record of some work being done, and finally, as the specialist on board I figured I should at least familiarize myself with the Leviathan and do what one could consider a checkup on things." she took another bite of cracker.

The fact he was also a super user made sense given their identity, picking up on something she nodded slowly "you share the super user clearance, so my hypothesis that it was only children of Tetsua with such access was incorrect, that must mean that Adrin has some deficiency that excluded him from the same access, if not a deficiency... then something else gives reason, or it could be a simple oversight. Familiarity with the ship as well as that access level also means you are much more familiar with the ship then others on board, should I assume the same could be said for everyone else with that clearance?" she asked as she took another sip of water.

"While your access would allow me to unlock those bulk log files, and see to their contents, I would have to assume that the information that was locked down was an extreme need to know to have the requirement of Super user to access, the fact that Adrin does not have access to these records suggests that it might be information that would compromise his mental or emotional state, or expose him to information that perhaps he is not ready to hear as of yet, determined by those that have such access. Though this is all speculation. I also would have to assume that had I not been able to access and understand the information I would not have been made aware of things up to this point..." she took another bite of stale cracker.

"I would ask what this is all about however by the round about way those I have talked to have used, and the fact that so many layers of secrecy are laid atop this, I would assume I am being tested to see if I am trust worthy enough to be informed, or if I am intelligent enough to learn it myself..." she finished as she looked at the man still "While the files interest me, whether I tell anyone about them or not is my choice to make. But then.. who would listen, I am very sure you are well aware of how the others already view me, on this ship and in our peoples society in general" she added as she started on another cracker.

A beeping sound could be heard in the background, it had a rhythm to it that seemed to decrease in intervals. Haeun said as she looked at Aphelion, "What? Do you remember now? It looks like something caught your tongue." She took a couple steps forward as she continued to look at the former Admiral.

Aphelion had grown suddenly quiet, a look of shock had suddenly come over her. It was likely that Tenea or her sister would of caught the slight tremble of her hand as she stood there, eyes locked on Haeun. She did remember, and she wanted to say something but for some reason she was scared out of her wits, so scared that tears actually welled from the sides of her eyes as she trembled. She felt like she might need to pinch herself. Was she remembering? Was she just mistaken? Judging from what she seen before her, it was unlikely. She turned her head and looked toward Curunir, and wondered if he shared that common thread with Haeun.

Haeun then looked toward Curunir as well, "Why don't you come and give me a hug? I think I can forgive you for coming here and disappearing," she said with a bit of a coy wink. Curunir moved as invited toward Haeun and wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. The princess then gave a sly wink toward Tenea, it was followed by a near blinding flash, that would of caused any of their kind to look away or shield their eyes, as the device beneath her armor activated. Following the flash there was a pop, kind of how the sound of thunder followed the rain, and both Haeun and Curunir were gone.

Nola's Lab

Sorle listed as Nola explained herself, or rather over explained herself. "You find what you are looking for in those logs," he explained. "We've been through them before most of you even came aboard." he said as he gave the mindhive authorization for Nola to open the files that she corrected. He then got up out of his seat and walked out of her lab. There was no goodbye, no final thoughts. He just got up and left. Just before the door to the lab hissed closed, a bright flash followed. Suddenly Nola would find herself alone again, however her access to the files remained.

The deleted files remained deleted, as she would open each of their directories she would find that they had the notation [PURGE LUMEN] [AUTH: Sar'actha] For what seemed like scroll after scroll that appeared to go back not just a few years before the ship was constructed, but possibly thousands of years, and it could of likely went back further than that. The following information would be retrieved, while the other locked files were found empty as well.

She listened to the man and nodded slowly still slowly eating the crackers as the man gave her access to the specified files and then left. "Alyelume please directly provide the information through my symbiont" she asked, and she started to go through the data, taking out her pad to write more coded notes for herself as she did so, the data of the planets seemed to be identical, so it was the same place two times, the time frame of the logs also went back a long time, much longer then she originally assumed things would.

"a man that can manipulate time....things from much father in the past then they should be.. they must have all traveled on Alyelume at some point before, though it seems she is a direct copy of a previous Leviathan.. I know that name from history... and the new body that was formed was of Lao... I will have to keep these in mind as we continue, though it seems however this group is want to keep Adrin away from this information... though if they had a reason for that they never told me. if this is some test the parameters seem set up to increase the chances of failure, however it could also be chalked up the rather stringent Norian Courtisies of never telling another what to do"[/b] she let out an annoyed sigh.

"Why was a born to a race with such pointless rules that cause everything to be so much harder to do? a death sentience for speaking one's mind and making small mistakes? it's a miracle there isn't less of our kind around..." she then stopped thinking and shook he head "Likely why my Ysi is basically extinct... perhaps.." she muttered to herself as she continued to take her coded notes and eat more of those stale crackers.

"If my experiments work.. I will have to remember to avoid such bulky and pointless rules once things are established..." she thought to herself as she took out her notes "Just need the time to work on it... and a sample..." she finally thought as she returned to working on making her notes on the information she now had access to.

The Drenai twins wonder momentarily which partner of Tetsuya's had been partner to creating Haeun. Whoever it was had certainly been a real piece of work. Well at least they heavily suspected her father had been Tetsuya, given that her title was Volaer and their former Aestaesys had only recently passed. As the beeping sound was heard they both looked at the admiral then each other with a curious look.

Tenea looked back to the former Admiral, catching the slight tremble in Aphelion's hand. Iare caught it as well, it made her wonder what Haeun had trigged in the former Admiral's memories to cause the reaction. Both women watched in silence as the awkward scene unfolded before them. "What the hell is going on here?" Tenea thought as Curunir wrapped his arms around Haeun. The expression on the older twin's face was cold and unemotional as Haeun winked.

Iare closed her eyes, turning away from the flash hoping that the others had done the same. Tenea had closed her eyes tightly, nearly reeling away as flash occurred. When the sound had settled Tenea peaked out from between her fingers, "Are you okay Iare?" Iare uncovered her eyes and looked towards Aphelion, "I'm fine." Both women looked to their companion and nodded, a silent message of understanding between the two. They quietly stepped to Aphelion's side, Tenea on the right and Iare on the left. "Are you alright?" Tenea asked carefully. "Is there anything we can do?" Iare asked resisting the urge to wipe her tears. She would not touch the woman without obtaining consent first. It was clear both women were very concerned about what memory Haeun might have brought to the surface.

The things that had been happening on the Alyelume could of been considered supernatural by some, but it was far from the case. In each instance there was some kind of device involved. It didn't change what Aphelion remembered though. When the sisters approached her she said quietly, "Something isn't right here. I just remembered when I heard Haeun's name last, it was when I still was an Admiral. Someone reported her as killed in action, some kind of attack and apparently there was no IDE backup." she shook her head, "Obviously there had to be one, because we were just talking to her."

"And Curunir..." she looked to where he and Haeun were last standing. "Alyelume, where is Haeun Eitan? Where did her and Curunir go? Teleportation devices aren't supposed to be used on Leviathan ships, and that includes the hybrids. Did you permit the use of that device? "

The mindhive responded, "Haeun Eitan and Curunir are not onboard. I do not know their destination. I am not authorized to discuss the technology utilized by Haeun, I am sorry. "

Ves quietly watched them from near the door of the lift, she knew that their attempts to track them would not be successful. There were just somethings that could not be said, and for their own good. Ves seemed frustrated with them, there was an obvious annoyed tone to her voice as she said, "They seek the same goals you do. They just have different ways of doing it." The pink-haired avatar moved closer to them, her nude form still completely on display. "You will find that all of them have been assumed dead or missing, some longer than others. As you can see they are very much alive."

Nola's Laboratory

"You may proceed to the bridge now if you wish Nola," the mindhive said to the curious young specialist.

"Perhaps its related to the odd sightings we've seen onboard. I know this sounds crazy, but it could be residuals of somewhere the Alyelume has been or even something that happened onboard. Though I would not even begin to fathom how." Tenea shook her head. "So many things just are not making sense, when norians die how do we know for sure that they are permanently dead?" Iare asked. "Yes, it could be the simple answer of their being a hidden IDE back up. However, what if its not that simple of an answer?" Tenea responded looking to Aphelion.

They listened as Aphelion spoke with the Alyelume, with the response just affirming their suspicions. Tenea raised an eyebrow, "All of them? Who is all of them?" Tenea asked Ves. Iare looked to Tenea, then they both looked at Aphelion. "This has to all be connected somehow." Iare said. "What if the tech Haeun used, the sightings, and those assumed to be dead are all somehow related?" Tenea added. Tenea then realized just how big of a mess she had possibly made by harming the scientist.

Nola's Lab

Nola was working still on her notes, making sure on calculations and making note of some of the data on the bulk logs as well, switching back and forth between the two sets of notes, staying in her personally made code the whole time. only occasionally taking a sip of water or eating another stale cracker as she slowly started to get lost in her work once more. But thankfully Alyelume's mindhive contacted her before she got totally engrossed in her note work and Nola looked up.

"hmm?" she looked around a moment having actually nearly forgotten she was on a ship at the moment after a second she nodded "Right, thank you Alyelume. May I ask if I am needed there? if not I can start on other work instead like identifying the age of some things, or finishing my notes. Unless I am requested I see no reason to go to a room filled with people that had no qualms about my execution. Clearly tensions would only escalate once more, and while a fully trust in you to not let anything happen, I do not fully trust in them to simply lash out once more against something they deem incorrect, especially when talking it over doesn't seem to be how our culture would normally handle such a thing."

She stretched a moment "I also wouldn't want to strain your resources attempting to keep my alive from their outbursts, as it would likely be me you would need to save each time. The cultural values they hold in high esteem do not seem to value the life one has. Something I think our people lost once we were able to make IDE's, I think that discovery may have broken something in our kind. Not that I will have to worry about that if my research works out" she looked at her notes a moment.

"Rather then spending time with people that would kill me for a social faux pas, I think I could get more actual work done in my lab looking into what I have gained" she stopped to think a bit and decided to ask the ancient creature that was their Leviathan "Alyelume.. while I am not a big follower of the concept of phaloam. I prefer the Rational Pragmatists concept of Nathaul personally, I figured I should ask you.. do you believe the progress we made has done more harm then good to the Norian people? Philosophy has it's place don't get me wrong however without knowledge I believe that the Norian people will forever be clutching around in the dark, and stumbling from one disaster to the next." she asked as she sat there thinking on it.

"With out proper intellectual pursuits and knowledge, we would forever be doomed to repeat what mistakes we made in the past. without proper intellectual review of things such as customs, traditions, and self imposed limits, we will stagnate as a people as those that stand out may be culled for a single slight, a microcosm of that you had seen happen in engineering not to long ago, in a group of four... one stood out, and while that one was willing to talk things out and discuss further, one was so bent on the extremes of the culture and beliefs that they simply killed them, while the other two that perhaps while not to extreme in that belief, still adhered to them to the extent that they seen nothing wrong with the extreme punishment handed out. However if you look at the situation they thought themselves to be in, a group of rebels that needed every resource they could get their hands on, and having no other specialist in the group of that type, they, without issue, decided to remove that skilled person from the group over something as arbitrary as someone's feelings getting hurt"

She took a sip of water as she continued "the situation has changed I will grant that however they had no knowledge that it would, I was also given a task by the captain, direct orders to look into something for them, now it's possible he ordered that if I break rules I am to be executed, however at the time he had no report from me on any findings, he currently still does not but that's for other reasons. and the information I have now, would likely never had been found, or more likely would have been found but only much later. Now granted this is a hypothetical that relies on an absurdity, that being that you would have let someone of the crew die, which of course you never would allow to happen if you can help it as long as none involved had not breached the accord, but a mental exercise like this can sometimes help us look over a situation"

Finally she nodded to herself "In the end I would have to say that from my perspective their actions, were unwarranted, granted I was the wronged party so I do admit I have a bias, much like they would have a bias towards themselves being in the right. however if you look at what happened in the greater context of the situation they were in at the time, it was a foolish choice, sacrificing possible long term gains and resources for immediate gratification. To look at it in the greater picture of what we know now.. what they have lost is trust, not that they likely care to have the trust of someone they feel is so reprehensible, so I suppose in the long run I am still in the same position I was in before, though now I am slightly more knowledgeable on the fact that at any time I could simply face the death penalty by simply speaking my mind and trying to resolve things through words" she shrugged.

"Forgive me for prattling on" she finished as she resumed working on he notes "In conclusion, I do not think I will go to the bridge, the percentage of people that would like to kill me, or have attempted to is much higher there then it is in this room, and in this room at the very least I can get some work done both on my personal projects and on things that may find more answers to other questions" and with that she continued to go over her notes and the data she now had access to.

Bridge

Aphelion exhaled sharply, a grim line forming on her lips as Tenea’s words hung in the air. “When you die without an IDE, you're dead. Completely. And even with one, I’d argue that what comes back isn’t truly you. It’s a copy, a facsimile that might placate the desperate or the vain, but it’s not the original. That might disappoint the fools who think they can cheat mortality for their own egos. The truth is, no matter what people tell themselves, the IDE is just data ~ numbers and code biologically dressed up as a person.”

Her voice carried the weight of someone who had seen the promises and pitfalls of technology too intimately. “As for the supernatural or the afterlife? I stopped believing in those fairy tales the moment the Espra’s lies came unraveled. Years of manipulation, using faith and mysticism to control us. I’d like to think we’re past falling for that nonsense. So let’s stick to the feasible explanation: someone, somewhere, has the resources to restore these people. That means serious hardware, serious connections, and enough stealth to come and go without anyone noticing. That’s the part that should worry us.” Her gaze, sharp and unwavering, swept across those listening, daring them to challenge her blunt pragmatism.

Ves shifted uncomfortably but remained poised, her tone softer in contrast to Aphelion’s ironclad reasoning. “I understand your skepticism, but there are things I cannot disclose ~ not yet. I’ve made promises, ones that Tetsuya himself required of me. Those individuals you’re questioning? They are not our enemies. Their presence here has been sanctioned by him, even if it raises questions about trust and protocol.” Her black eyes, luminous and steady, met Aphelion’s hardened stare. “I know this leaves all of you with doubts, and I won’t fault you for them. But I assure you, the restrictions on my disclosure are not arbitrary. There’s a purpose behind them, and one that aligns with the greater good. Alyelume’s systems and my own will not permit the release of that information until the time is right.”

Aphelion crossed her arms, her expression skeptical. “A promise to Tetsuya doesn’t absolve the fact that their presence compromises this ship’s security ~ or at the very least, our understanding of who’s pulling the strings. If we’re expected to rely on cryptic reassurances, don’t be surprised when we question every move.”

Ves nodded solemnly. “Your questions are valid. I don’t expect blind faith, Admiral. I only ask that you hold your judgment until the picture becomes clearer. Tetsuya trusted me to make this call, and I’ll honor his directive until the time comes to reveal more.”

The exchange left the room steeped in tension, a gulf of trust and information dividing them. Aphelion glanced toward the others, her thoughts sharp and skeptical but unwilling to waste time on further arguments. "Let’s hope your secrets are worth the risk," she muttered, her voice low but edged with warning.

Nola's Laboratory

Alyelume’s voice carried a calm, steady tone as she addressed Nola, adjusting with a growing familiarity to the specialist’s habit of engaging her in conversation. “Your presence there was neither ordered nor requested,” she began, her words precise yet neutral. “I only wished to inform you that you could proceed there, should you choose to. It is a choice, as all things should be.” Her voice softened slightly, adopting a more personal inflection, something rare among mindhives. “IDE technology is safe,” she continued, “and it stands as one of the few ways to defy the tragedy of death. Since its inception ~ and the subsequent merging of your ancient processors with ours ~ it has forged unity between our kinds. Admittedly, this makes me biased toward its significance.”

There was a pause, an almost imperceptible moment where the neural hive of the Leviathan seemed to reflect before continuing. “However,” Alyelume began again, her tone carrying a subtle undertone of reproach, “I cannot overlook the perilous path your people have tread with voidtech. It is a technology that should have been abandoned the moment its repercussions became apparent. The Norian exposure to voidic elements and entities has led to irreparable loss ~ lives permanently snuffed out, beyond even the reach of an IDE.”

The vespered explanation shifted, a solemn undertone taking over. “The development of the Masamune wave was a monumental achievement. Without it, your people would have been consumed entirely, left to oblivion within the void. It saved your kind from extinction. While the progress of your species is formidable, the price has been steep ~ yet expected. No civilization ascends in its understanding of the universe without faltering, without failure.” Alyelume’s tone turned personal again, a subtle acknowledgment of the bond forming between her and Nola. “Still, there is admiration for the progress you’ve made despite the risks. It speaks to resilience, something even my kind respects deeply.”

She transitioned seamlessly as Nola continued to speak, addressing the specialist’s personal concerns. “The attempt on your life was unfortunate,” Alyelume said, her tone tinged with quiet reassurance. “I believe the one who acted did so rashly, driven by fear ~ a fear born from ignorance. It is natural for people to fear what they do not understand. You are not typical of your species, and your unique communication style reflects this. While my kind may appreciate such differences, others may not.” The mindhive’s words held a warmth meant to comfort. “You are fortunate to be in a field where your freedom to be different can thrive. And I will protect you, as I promised. You’ve already seen my dedication to that promise. Do not let one individual’s violent act poison your view of the entire crew ~ it was an isolated moment, not a shared sentiment.”

Alyelume shifted gears again, her tone lightening slightly, though with a hint of reproachful practicality. “Now,” she said, “if you do not intend to visit the bridge, perhaps there is something else I can assist you with? It has been hours since your last proper intake of nutrients. The crackers you’ve been snacking on are not only stale but devoid of any remaining nutritional value. Surely you can find something more fitting to sustain yourself?” The gentle suggestion carried a hint of care, not just as an observation of Nola’s physical needs but as an extension of the connection Alyelume had fostered ~ a willingness to look after her in the quiet, sincere way only a mindhive could manage for one of her crew.

Bridge

The twins nodded in acknowledgment to Aphelion's statement about IDEs. Though they did both wonder where her following words about the supernatural came from. She did have a point about fairy tales, though they did not think this might be the case. Perhaps their conversation had been misunderstood, the musings of two women wondering what else could lie out there. "I think that's what we were trying to get at, apologies if it came across otherwise." Iare stated calmly. Tenea nodded in agreement. Neither of them daring to challenge her in their words or body language.

It seemed they were now set in the background as things unfolded with the other two in the room. They watched the conversation almost if they were background pieces, both of them agreeing firmly with Aphelion. When everything they knew was being turned on its head, how could one expect to throw blind faith into anything? Tenea just shook her head as Iare stared off into the distance. "What would you have us do now?" Tenea asked politely looking towards both Aphelion and Alyelume. Little did they know that the Alyelume was telling Nola things that were not true. It was not fear born ignorance that had driven Tenea to do what she did. Let alone there were others on the crew that had shared the same sentiment as she, several in fact.

Nola nodded slowly as she listened "That is true, On the subject of IDE's however I have say the issue is while it allows one to defy death I believe it has also made the Norian people callus towards it, to see it as less of a issue, but conversely it also heightened the grief ones feel when someone dies and they had no IDE backup, in essence making it worse on both sides. However I will not deny the great achievement that it is, nor will I ignore the significance of the technology in bringing the sense of unity between the two, I simply think that some intellectual honesty must be applied to the negatives just as we greatly apply it to the Positives, both must be looked at to understand the greater impact this technology, and any technology in fact, may have on our peoples. As without that scrutiny the likelihood of it being misused increases, and means to support those that suffer the unfortunate downsides are never considered, written up, and implemented." she replied as she took another sip of water.

At the mention of the Void tech was Nola nodded once more "Void tech was one of the Norian's greatest failures, the downsides were ignored because they thought they knew better, or that it was some trick, maybe it was because they were so full of arrogance they deemed themselves untouchable? Regardless of the exact reason, it happened, and our people paid the price for that foolishness. It's this that causes my concern for the path of our people as we cling to such dogmatic traditions and social niceties with a fanaticism that causes some to kill others for the smallest mistake... perhaps those that raised their opinions the loudest against the use of Void tech met a fate like I nearly did? It's hard to say one way or the other easily. The Development of the Masamune wave was a remarkable achievement, however it was one born of a necessity that our kind in our foolish rush created, the proper time was not taken to learn, to understand. and that nearly cost us everything"

"Though granted it was that same drive that had us find your kind, and to eventually find better means to interact with you and understand you. Again the good and the bad must be taken into consideration. Our failures shape us just as much as our victories after all. maybe more so?"
she finished off the crackers and took another sip of water as she listened to Alyelume speak on the situation that happened prior.

"Fear causes a lot of loss as well, however fear is a natural reaction that also keeps one safe, however Fear must be tempered by reason, not reinforced by tradition or social pressures on what is proper. As for your protection I thank you greatly for that, had you not saved my life it would have been the extinction of my Ysi right then and there, and while I would often agree on not painting a larger group with a single brush, the fact that the other two present had not attempted to defuse the situation nor seemed particularly bothered by the action taken raises concerns, and I would have to be quite foolish to not at least include that observation in my view of the crew, though granted all that tells me is that three people here have no qualms with the incident that took place. others were not aware of the situation that I am aware of. so for now I will not consider the others to be of the same mindset, however I will consider the social and traditional factors that they have all grown up in as a variable as most would have had the same set of values placed around them, the difference is in each individual and how they carry those values".

That topic had for the time being reached a end point, there were more people on the Leviathan however she had not met them all, but she was aware that at least three who were on board had not seemed to think of anything being wrong with what had happened. Till more information was gained there was nothing left to analyze about that till later. So with that she listened further as Alyelume mentioned the crackers and their lack of proper nutritional value and Nola had to concede the point on that "They were more a means to sate the hunger then to provide actual nutritional intake, but you are correct, it is about time I get an actual meal... Is there a galley or a storage room with such supplies available?" she asked as she put her notes away and got up from her seat ready to head out to get the supplies.

"I would also need a means to carry more then more physical body could carry as I intend to bring extra back, the less I have to leave the lab the better as it will allow me to focus more on my research, it also means I am easier to find for the crew that wish to find me if I am more or less always in the same place" she finished as she got ready to head out to where ever Alyelume directed her.

Bridge

Aphelion stood silent for a moment, her gaze fixed on the empty spot where Curunir and Haeun had been. As much as she was drawn to unraveling the mystery they represented, the reality of their situation loomed large. It was clear that Alyelume wasn’t on their side of this issue, and the undertone of Ves’s words only reinforced that truth.

Turning back to her companions, her tone carried a resigned pragmatism. “I figure we’re not going to get any more help exploring these little events we’ve witnessed since we came aboard. We might as well focus on being useful. You two,” she gestured toward her companions, “head down to the cargo bay and see if you can scrounge up some standard-issue kits. If we’re UNN again, we should at least look the part.”

The words came with a faint bitterness, a reflection of how much had changed. It seemed like only days ago that she, Adrin, and Sephielle had been fighting for their lives to steal the very ship they now stood aboard. The stark contrast between survival and uneasy cooperation hung heavy in her mind.

She paused, letting the weight of her own thoughts settle before continuing. “Just keep track of anything strange you might see. We might not get answers right now, but we can still gather observations.” Her gaze drifted toward the operations table, its sterile glow an unwelcome reminder of their current reality. With a quiet sigh, she muttered to herself, her voice tinged with wistfulness, “Being useful, unfortunately, isn’t the same as retirement.”

WIP page, but it should be finished soon!

Nola's Laboratory

Alyelume remained quiet during Nola’s dissertation, observing her with a measured patience that she’d cultivated in their growing acquaintance. Through her efforts to befriend and understand the specialist, Alyelume had come to accept that this was simply who Nola was ~ a force that resisted conformity, perpetually pushing back, always moving against the grain.

In some ways, Nola embodied traits familiar to many Norians: the relentless drive to debate, to see every possible angle, and to question the status quo. Yet, there was something uniquely frustrating about how she articulated her truths, speaking with a clarity that often veered into confrontation. If only the matter of IDEs and Voidtech were as simple as Nola’s pointed opinions suggested. It wasn’t, of course. The debate had raged for over two decades, with no sign of resolution.

Alyelume felt a pang of sadness as she listened. Beneath Nola’s defiance, she glimpsed a loneliness that resonated deeply. Was her own sympathy rooted in her own solitude? Or perhaps it stemmed from the unhealed wound of her maker’s death, a loss that lingered in the quiet moments between battles.

“There’s a galley, two decks down,” Alyelume finally said, her voice even and composed. A series of teal-accented lights embedded in the floor flickered on, forming a path to guide Nola toward her destination. What she didn’t reveal, however, was that Ves intended to meet Nola there. It was time for a face-to-face conversation—one that promised to be as revealing as it was confrontational.

Corridor

Nola walked down the corridor, following the lights that Alyelume was kind enough to give her to show her the way, unlike many who were on the ship Nola really hadn't taken the time to look around and learn her way, so the aid was very much appreciated. As she walked she started to make notes for herself on nutritional intake "Need to find a more efficient means... a supplement? No that wouldn't work, one can still starve without proper food, Meat has a high caloric value, but the physiology of a Norian can't digest meat without aid of stabilizers and additional enzymes to allow for digestion... caloric intake would be an issue if my hypothesis is correct, though I would still need material to do the experiments required" she mumbled to herself.

"Second issue would be the fact that the ship doesn't normally store meat as a dietary item, meaning having to get a supply of it for myself if the experiment proves fruitful, but further development might hinge on more efficient means of gaining calories not to mention the vitamins and minerals it would give my body" she continued to mumble to herself as she got into the lift and set it for the require deck.

"I will need to go to the Fabricator for a few equipment that I will need once I have the required samples.. if I can ever get them that is, I am not about to take without asking on that after all" she stood in the lift as it moved considering what to do. "For now should focus on getting food and then maybe some sleep.. but then there is work I need to do still, I should take note if there is a Sylph compliment here, and if they have required supplies for them.. I do not know if anyone checked on that... in fact"

As the Lift opened and Nola stepped out she spoke out rather them mumbled finally "Alyelume, do you have a Sylph compliment? and if so do you have the required supplies needed for them? if not, after I am done eating I can start work on getting those supplies, though that would require material to work with, if you have no Sylphs then we can set that aside for now.. If I am going to be here I should at least do my work.. if not then I can focus more on my research I suppose" she ended as she walked into the galley.

It was there she seen the nude from of Ves and she blinked a bit, but she remembered she had seen her on the bridge and recalled her in the muck bay as well, she was likely the Avatar of the Leviathan she nodded to her "Hello there" she said simply, unsure why the Avatar was there considering she had been talking to Alyelume the whole time, then she stopped and began muttering to herself, "the Avatar replied to a different name, perhaps it was semi separate? No wait... the age of the Leviathan, different name.. hmm.. best to consider it separate, or at least unique Alyelume isn't like other Leviathans after all considering what I have learned, the knowledge they must have from all those centuries... But then why approach me with the Avatar? Well won't know till we speak" the whole time she had been looking at the Avatar.
