RP: NSS Acadia [Mission 1, Briefing] The Dust Devil Cometh

Harrison's eyebrow ticked. He had never used a WATER armor before, so he was sure to be out of his element. The FIRE and the WATER were, in his opinion, two worlds apart; and Harrison was sure there was going to be a problem. Nevertheless, he sucked it up and nodded.

"Yes, sir."

"What Armor do I have, Sir?" Trey asked, Hoping for one of the more substantial NAM armors, but content with a DD's stealth capabilities, which a sniper like him could make good use of. He was ready to go as soon as the rest were, mentally pumping himself up for the mission. People's lives depended on him, didn't they? well, that's why he was here, to save them.

Rose didn't volunteer herself, in fact she didn't even say anything really after her date with Gyles went..shudder. Well. The run sounded way too simple, meaning it'd go one of two ways: lots of death until they won, or the other: far more complicated than they imagined, and the last mission all over again. How big were Yamatai shipyards that those pussycats could let a CRUISER slip off the ranch? Rose didn't know that they sold them, just assumed there were so many ships left that they were getting sloppy with them.

For once the bitchy Combat Medic sat next to Ran without complaining, she had a pen in her mouth, and was clutching a clipboard to her chest with both arms, a dour expression on her face. This same shit was getting old. If the chaos wasn't so focusing I'd not have signed on another tour. Fuck me.

While her eyes narrowed, Dream got herself back into the flow of the briefing. Something about Steyr bothered her, she felt more comfortable with 'normal' Marines around like Rico. Only a few kills last mission before they got pegged: this time the heavenly space between the start of the battle and when someone go hurt had to be longer. Blood in the vacuum seemed so sterile and beautiful. Still, she didn't have motivation enough to squabble over their being under supplied. If one of the NCOs wanted they'd say something.

Viktor wasn't quite sure what Fian had meant by his last statement, until he perused his datapad. Idiot, he mentally berated himself. I should have checked. Too late to make any reparations to his apparent intelligence, though, so he let the thought slide and examined the PA list, which was very short (hence the small team, Kingston thought to himself). A trio of WATERs and an equal number of Demons. But there were only five members in this squadron... So one of the PAs must be inoperable. Regardless, he knew what he'd be piloting: a Dark Demon.

This is perfect! he declared to himself, excited to try out a Power Armor with which he had never operated. Viktor felt that his commanding officer should be aware that he had never used a Dark Demon before, but at the same time that he had no fear nor problems with piloting one. "No sir, they didn't, but you don't have to worry about me. The whole reason I'm here, sir, is to pilot PAs, and I can handle anything you give me." Now I've just got to show him it's true.

"What Armor do I have, Sir?"
Goddammit, can't these questions wait? It is the CO that is holding the briefing now.
With a slightly agitated face that accumilated from the first non-briefing importance question asked, Fian briefly flipped his datapad showing a stock photo of the WATER2 to face Trey's general direction, raised a finger to his lips, tapped above his right eye and then indicated towards Commander Belmonte.

He casted a curious glance at Morris.

"No sir, they didn't, but you don't have to worry about me. The whole reason I'm here, sir, is to pilot PAs, and I can handle anything you give me."
The Master Cheif nodded in approval, and then repeated the series of gestures he made earlier sans the datapad flipping. After that he paid full attention to the Commander, anticipating any comments she might have over his general course of action.

"Since Rico offered to lead the infiltration group, I'll give him command of the main group. Don't mess it up." Esther grinned at the man she had been antagonizing over the status of the girl he claimed was his daughter, and nodded. She did realize that she had a few more veteran marines on standby, and considered her options with them.

"Once we get to the armory, we'll split up again into two groups. An escort squad to get me to the Acadia and a relief squad to assist Vel Steyr on the station's surface."

"Infiltration squad meet me at the armory in no more than five minutes. Master Chief, get your men suited up. The armors are in the cargo hold."

He nodded, and turned his attention back to Esther, thinking Idiot! His excitement had gotten the better of him, and now his superior was already having to keep him in check. He took another deep breath and exhaled silently. I can be better than this. FOCUS! And focus he did. When Esther was finished with her briefing, he saluted and turned his attention back to the Master Chief after muttering a, "You too," in response to Autumn. Despite his desire to run ahead to the cargo hold, he waited with the utmost patience. Besides, he realized, he didn't really know his way around this ship.

The Geshrin armorer was grinning as she heard her ever adventurous Sergeant volunteer to take the station armory. This is looking to be a more interesting start than last time. Pirates, eh?

"Good luck, Kingston," Autumn said with a wink and a smile as she turned to Viktor for a moment. "Sergeant Sanroma, what's the plan?"

"Alright, everyone. Dismissed." Esther said plainly, making a small naval salute, before turning over a concerned glance over at Fian. It was strange, but despite having an important name, he didn't come off as a plutocratic aristo kid from the tower districts, and aside from wearing what appeared to be wireless headphones all the time, wasn't terrible to look out.

He's no Sanroma, but he hasn't brought in child and told me he needs me to smuggle her aboard.

"Master Chief... good hunting out there."

"Alright, everyone. Dismissed."
"ATTENTION!" The Master Chief belted out, stood up and snapped a salute in return as per protocol. He expected the other marines behind him to do the same.

"Master Chief... good hunting out there."
"Thank you, Ma'am. You too." Having had full attention on the Commander, Fian caught her concerned glance but he kept a straight face. This mission shouldn't be too difficult.

Trey indeed followed suit standing up and saluting, but no bellows accompanied this. Once he figured it was safe, Trey went to Fian's side, for further instructions from the Master Chief.

Amelia had already returned the salute, as was ingrained into her mind from training. To be honest, she was glad that she was part of the infiltration team. She preferred to be on foot than in a PA. Hopefully her VIAL weapon would get some use. Idiot hiding around the corner? Swing it and let the nanobots curl around the corner to get him. Door sealed? The blade settings had only one molecule wide of an edge, more than enough to break through the center if necessary. Still, she would only do as ordered.

"Fight well and don't hesitate, pilots." That was Amelia's way of saying 'good luck'. She turned to the man they called 'Sanroma'. This was the man in charge? Something about his overall attitude made her feel uneasy about that idea. Nonetheless, she would be in the company of marines she had fought alongside previously, and knew at least they were reliable. "Ready and waiting."

"Fuck yes, a mission that doesn't involve running around in giant tin fucking cans." Ran let loose a stream of cigarette smoke into the air after they were dismissed. "Fuckin' lead carving channels through bone and muscle, the feeling of recoil busting up your shoulder..." The Chief rambled on and on, keeping a ear out for what the leader of the infiltration team was planning.

"Finally, not fuckin' leading people. It's like being enlisted all over again." Taking a seat nearby, the Chief pulled out yet another cigarette and went to work on it.

With a few strokes of the stylus the Master Chief contacted the Quartermaster of the Dust Devil to unpack the Power Armor stored in the cargo bay. While the Marines could have done it themselves, the navy files were very particular about re-arranging the positions of the crates in storage, it was also their suits after all.

"All right." Fian turned to face the people he selected. "Take a leak, say your prayers or write a will. Whatever. Meet me in the cargo bay in five minutes." He then turned around again to use the main projector of the room to fully formulate his plans.

Harrison grunted as he moved out of the "briefing room". He made his way to where he had put his stuff, replaced the HHGs in their places on his duffel bag, then moved off to the cargo bay and scouted out one of the WATER2s he could use for the upcoming mission.

"Yes sir," Kingston answered, giving the ingrained response to a CO's orders. After removing his sidearm and holster from his belt, he followed Harrison down to the cargo hold and laid his eyes on the Dark Demon. He'd only seen it in simulators and models before now, and it certainly was something. It was well equipped, packing a lot of weaponry, and plenty of extra utilities. At first glance, he could determine the usage of each weapon; the only problem was that he had never used any of them before, so he wasn't sure just how they would perform nor the proper way to manipulate each one. No matter, he thought, I've got this under control. It's just a steep learning curve. He smirked. There was no time for him to learn; he'd have to get it right or except the consequences of a foul-up.

Seeing Harrison eying the WATER2, Viktor was slightly jealous. It was a much more familiar machine to him, and he'd trade the comfort of a known entity over a foreign machine in any hostile situation outside a simulator. Unfortunately, that was not his decision to make. "You ever used a W2?" he asked Harrison

Autumn said:
"Sergeant Sanroma, what's the plan?"
"The plan, baby-cakes," Rico said as he finished his own dismissal salute to the Captain. The suave Nepelslian cast a sidelong glance at Autumn as he looked around for the rest of his team. "...is, uh, currently in the works, yannow? I'll get a better idea once we see what we'll be workin' with. We can play catch-up after that, yeah?"
Amelia said:
"Ready and waiting."
Nearly at the same instant he had finished talking to one lovely Nepleslian lady Rico turned to feast his eyes on yet another. He had to give this new comer a little credit; she knew how to pull off that uniform almost as well as he did. Her voice as she pronounced her readiness was so determined, so bold, so professional, and so...serious. It was fairly obvious that this one was a strictly-business working girl. Rico shrugged inwardly; nobody (save for himself, maybe) was perfect. The Sergeant ran a hand smoothly through his hair, preparing to put the tried-and-true Sanroma magic to break that icy gaze, but stopped short as the other side of his brain kicked back in.

'Whoa whoa WHOA baby! This is what that fucker Fian wants! Game face, baby, GAME FACE.'

Rico smirked as he came to the realization that Fian chose none of these lovely ladies for his own team. At first, it would seem as though Fian was either ignorant, not into chicks, or probably both...but now, NOW Rico saw through this dastardly ploy. Give all the women to Rico...he'll be distracted, he'll mess up, he'll lose. 'Not a chance, Vel Steyr.' Wooing the stern-faced beauty before him would, unfortunately, have to wait for later.

"...well, I hate to keep a lady waitin'," Rico replied to Amelia, nodding towards the rest of the group gathering around him. "So let's hit this shit runnin' an' make our way to the armory. The Captain'll be givin' us a heads-up on what kinda guns we'll be gettin', an' I can't make a good strategy 'till I see 'em. So, let's move it!"

Rico motioned for the few stranglers waiting for him towards the exit before hastily leading them to the Dust Devil's armory.

Harrison was caught off-guard while examining the WATER. Victor's question came suddenly and caught him a bit off guard- why would he ask, anyways? So he answered with another, logical question.

"Have you ever piloted a DD before?"

At this point Trey entered the bay, looking at his own Water PA that he was to use. "Well, it's no AIR, but I suppose I can make it work" he mumbled to himself, somewhat ignoring the two he had just stepped in between. He opened the Armor up and began inspecting it to make sure it was up to snuff.

Viktor smirked. "No, I haven't, but no need to worry about me. I live to pilot these things, and a new PA is just another check mark on my list of things to do. So, have you piloted a WATER before?" Harrison was looking a bit tense with the question, but Kingston saw no reason to be, so he attempted to convey a light-hearted nature.
