Engineering

Takeyu glanced down at the ground, while holding his ICP and looking at the simulation he was running. "We're in atmosphere," he muttered and walked over to another terminal.

Looking at the display; he nodded a few times. "Ok, let's keep an eye on the shields," he said to the Heisho.

Then he looked at the simulation results before going back to his duty of monitoring ship systems and reactor.

YSS Eucharis Bridge

"One of our captured NMX nekos has given us the coordinates of what should be the last remaining mental backup machine on the planet. We are going to secure it," Hanako explained on the intercom. "Away team, prepare to launch. All other available personnel report to the cargo bay."

"Take us down to the landing site, Natsumi," Hanako ordered. "Stay clear of Gartagen forces. We do not want to disrupt their operations."

Ether

The YSS Eucharis sent a tight beam and laser transmission directly to the Gartagens advising them that the Eucharis would be landing and setting up a small base. There were two areas of operation: the NMX neko production facility, and the designated base site, which would be located on the edge of a fairly flat plateau away from most of the action.

Engineering

"I bet you'd like to fix up that Ayana we found," Cherry commented to Takeyu. "Oh, speaking of which, I don't think we ever inspected or repaired the CRDM modules we're about to put on the planet. I'm going to get to the cargo bay and check them out."

Bridge

"Taking us down" Natsumi replied.

Checking the sensors for the location of nearby military operations, Natsumi set a flight path and began piloting the ship down to a lower altitude, aiming for the designated landing site.

As they cleared the cloud layer she could see the land below. she had never seen Ether before.

"On approach to land" She announced as they closed on the landing site. She kicked in the breaking thrusters, slowing their forward momentum. As Eucharis neared he ground Natsumi extended the landing gear and set the gunship down with a gentle thud.

Planet Ether

Hanako grabbed her black coat, left the bridge, and then floated up to the airlock on the top of the ship and opened both hatches and climbed about halfway out to get a look.

The area on top of the plateau was barren and rocky, with several inches of snow and no signs of life. Large clouds rapidly moved in the sky above.

She could feel the cold biting her ears and cooling her quickly reddening cheeks. The wind was blowing her hair around and forced her to squint to protect her eyes. Pulling a Type 31 Science Scanner out of her pocket, Hanako took a temperature reading: It was -32°C (-24°F) outside with light snow coming down...an improvement from the seemingly endless blizzards this planet was prone to.

The Shosho then lowered herself and closed the hatches behind her and headed to the cargo bay.

Cargo Bay

Cherry was looking at the CRDMs recovered from planet H. The power station, shield generator, and barracks modules were all shot full of holes from NMX battle pods. She went to the power one first to see the extent of the damage to its systems.

Engineering

Takeyu nodded and was tempted to check the modules himself if Cherry hadn't left, he would've joined her but he couldn't leave Engineering vacant.

With the simulations nearing the end of their run-times, he glanced at the backup reactors before looking at the results.

To: Cherry-Heisho said:
"Heisho, what's the status on those CRDM's?"

He asked and walked over to the backup reactors and began to inspect them.

Shuttle Bay

Tomomi upon hearing about their mission she started to proceed to board the shuttle. But before she entered, she first went to the nearest damage control station and grabbed two AME suits from it. She made a mental note of her during it in Charisma's records of her action.

"I don't know about you, but I plan on being prepared." Tomomi said as she entered the cockpit. She placed the suit she got for Mitsuko next to her and quickly changed uniforms out of sight of Mitsuko. Once she was complete, she sat down in the co-pilot's seat.

While Hanako went to get a look in person, Helen remained on the bridge as she summoned up another series of volumetric projections, which hovered around her as she eyed their various displays. Weather data, sensor readings, IFF signals, terrain data, and the life-signs of the crew. "Ramiro." Helen spoke, as she eyed the various displays. "Keep our topside guns on stand-by. If any munitions or enemy ships come at us, I do not want to give them the opportunity to nail us while we're sitting here." Helen ordered, as she eyed the data which was available to her, and frowned a bit in the process; "And see if the Gartagens would be kind enough to establish an encrypted data link with us so we can see what their sensors see. I want to use their space forces as our eyes."

Shuttle Bay

While the Eucharis was landing, Mitsuko tried to calm her nerves by examining the shuttle thoroughly. She took in everything about the cockpit area, testing the SPINE interface and trying not to worry. Murakami let out a small squeak as Tomomi spoke up, pulled from her thoughts. "Oh! Um...thank you. I was so worried about other things, I didn't think about that..." She shook her head. That was becoming a bad habit.

Mitsuko moved to the transport area to quickly change as well, making sure to move her pistol to the environmental suit's holster. She returned to the cockpit, helpfully folding Tomomi's uniform along with her own, stowing both for the moment. After another glance around the cramped space, she returned to the transport area to have a look around. They certainly had plenty of room for the infantry, at least.

"Aye ma'am," Ramiro responded. He immediately set the topside weapons on standby and pointed them vertically, so they would be ready to engage any incoming enemies. He then established a communications link with the Gartagens.

"Gartegan Military Command, Eucharis. Requesting an encrypted data link to access your forces' sensor data."

Cargo Bay

Cherry's voice came back through the Engineering room's intercom "Three of the modules have been shot up pretty badly and have a lot of bulletholes in the. I'm in the power station one and we got damage to the fusion reactor core. It can probably be fixed up with some new wires. I'ts all burns on the magnet power couplings. And one of the generators is completely trashed bu the other one could probably be fixed up to work. It might be easiest to just bring a portable generator with it, though."

Hanako looked over the shot-up CRDMs with a frown as she walked along the catwalk, climbing down on the last ladder before the door ramp so she could reach the controls. In a moment, the cargo bay was bathed in by bright light and blasted with frigid air as the ramp began to lower, revealing the snow-covered rocky plateau.

"Hanako to shuttle away team: Are you ready to launch?"

Shuttle

"Hanako to shuttle away team: Are you ready to launch?"

"We better be under way. The Shosho is starting to sound agitated." Tomomi said calling Mitsuko back to the cockpit. She put on her helmet and linked it to the shuttle's communication suite.

"Hai Ketsurui-Shosho, we are ready to launch." Said in response.

"This is Gartagen Fleet Command. You are go for encrypted data link. Becareful down there Yamatai." came the response to Ramero.

Engineering

"There might be a few spare power couplings in one of the cargo containers, not sure if they'll work. If you don't think it's worth working on, or find additional damage that will complicate matters, just grab an portable aether generator and we'll use it in its place."

"Although," Takeyu rubbed his chin. "Why weren't those modules replaced when we were in dock?" he asked but more to himself than to Cherry.

Shuttle Bay

After exiting the armory Bors headed towards the shuttle, clicking his helmet into place as he entered the bay and boarded the shuttle.

Taking his respective seat he settled himself in and waited for the shuttle to depart.

Misato followed Bors down to the shuttle, she was ready for anything, she had loaded her self up with her normal equipment, but also brought a little extra explosives just in case. Last time they cam in so usefull.

Jonathan was a moment behind Misato into the shuttle. While the Eucharis was descending to land, Jonathan had made a single modification to his Mindy's equipment configuration, swapping the atmospherically inefficient and highly destructive Aetheric Pulse Cannon normally mounted on his right shoulder for one of the seven 50mm Gauss Cannon found in the armory. Secured to the inner surface of his forearm shield was a 150M spool of Detonation Cord, a pair of detonators (1 remote and 1 delayed) and a spare helical cartridge of 50MM rounds for his shoulder mounted cannon, just in case.

Eucharis - Bridge

"Roger that Fleet Command," Ramiro responded into his headset. He then used the encrypted data link to begin collecting the Gartagen sensor data and inputting it into the Eucharis' sensor data.

"Sensor data merged, ma'am."

T7 Shuttle

"Just a minute...our passengers haven't arrived yet." Mitsuko called out, from the seating area. "Oh...good timing." She smiled as their three passengers filed in and started getting settled. Heading back into the cockpit, she settled into the chair next to Tomomi. Following her example, Murakami put on her helmet and connected to the ship's systems. As she began to power up the engines, she sent a short text message to the three crew in back, letting them know they were about to exit the ship.

Mitsuko hesitated for a moment, before also contacting the captain. "Shosho, we're opening up the shuttle bay and exiting the ship. Coordinates for our destination? Is there...anything we should know about the state of the planet between here and there, Shosho?"

YSS Eucharis - Bridge

"Well done Ramiro, if their sensors show us anything worthwhile, be sure to send them a 'thank you' note." Helen spoke, as she brought up a fresh batch of volumetric displays, using combined data from the Eucharis' landing approach, and the live data from the Gartagen fleet. "Ramiro, I want you to set up a monitoring application which will monitor the sensor feed for any high-energy reactions and objects which are traveling at speeds appropriate for a weapon discharge, and arrange for a warning to be transmitted to our landing team if there is incoming fire at their location, and tie in the application into our top-side turrets for interception purposes. Also, I would like the sensor data made available to the IES systems which the landing team will have access to." Helen ordered, as she eyed the sensor feed for any points of interest.

Bridge

"Nothing of note," Hanako told Mitsuko via radio. "Just watch out for defenses when you land the shuttle."

Cargo Bay

"Obviously the ship's cargo is our responsibility, not the shipyard's," Cherry replied to Takeyu. "I think we, the crew, dropped the ball on that one."

Ether

Minutes later, the shuttle was airborne and headed to the last NMX Nekovalkyrja production facility on Ether. Meanwhile, the CRDM Modules were offloaded to set up a basic camp on the planet's surface, manned by Ittô Heisho Tokuhichi Erika, an NH-27 who the Eucharis crew rescued on their mission to Sbuhfaba.

Hanako forward the list of items at the base to Mitsuko and asked if there was anything else they needed in the base before the ship took off.

The sensor data from the Gartagens showed Ether was now a mop-up operation getting rid of stubborn NMX forces who were primarily in hiding.

As the shuttle closed on the target zone, a clang sounded on the side of the shuttle as something hit it.
