The Eucharis burst out of hyperspace like a bat out of hell, the leader of a large and unexpected battlegroup of Yamataian warships. As the ships rapidly closed on the planet, they targeted Freespacer ships and opened fire without warning, spreading out and engaging each vessel separately or in small groups before they had a chance to react. As the assault began, a message played on all frequencies: "The Halna System has been temporarily placed under military control. Any ship that attempts to leave this system will be destroyed."

As dozens of burning, damaged ships streaked towards the planet's surface, Hanako put the ship into a holding pattern and rose from her seat. "Care to join me, Misaki?" she asked, heading to the armor bay. After quickly suiting up, Hanako opened one of the armored bay doors and darted outside, joining hundreds of other power armors as they descended to purge the world of Freespacer presence.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"I wouldn't miss this." Misaki smiled, stripping quickly to climb into one of the armours. She would have preferred the Taisa stay on the bridge, but she Blackberry was there, and the rest of the Eucharis' sprites were all at stations. When she put the helmet on her MINDY, it was a split second after Hanako had zipped out, she promptly followed her CO with a standard load out. She would have to program her preferences in for quick deployment, but the beam saber she included would be just versatile enough for multiple targets.

Misaki spilled into the dark pitch of space and the ensuing battle, pleased with the readouts she was receiving from the rest of the fleet. "Group eight-oh delta. Staggered entry." The Shosa corrected a small element of the assault force calmly, a slight trepidation in their target nagged at her, but the battle didn't leave much room for misgivings. The enemy was at hand.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Once on the surface, squads of armored troops began searching through the tunnels of Halna, spreading out into every last nook and cranny and disposing of any Freespacers that didn't surrender immediately. It was a slaughter. Hanako, meanwhile, went to the location where the SAINT agent had reported seeing a version of her.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Misaki listened closely for any chatter that might tell them where she'd been spotted, but was more concentrated on keeping Hanako safe. The progress of the battle was promising, but she wasn't going to let her guard down until they were back to nominal status.

At least it was better than fighting Mishhu, though she felt bad for how many were reporting dead, she knew they posed a real threat to the citizens of her own country, and less invasive black market activity. "Are you picking anything familiar up, Hanako Taisa?"

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"An imposter," Hanako said. She didn't bother fighting the NH-18; instead she had the Eucharis fire on it from orbit and eliminate the shapeshifter. "Let us return to the ship."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Maybe the Swan will have something for us soon." Misaki offered as they moved towards the Eucharis. "At least that open door can be shut, we need only find the next one." There was a pause, "Or a window."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Once the Freespacers were captured and/or exterminated, the invasion force returned to their ships and then headed back towards Yamatai, leaving the residents with a large shipment of weapons (Type 28 NSPs and GP-5 Rifles) and armor (vests) as compensation and to help defend against any future Freespacer infiltration attempts.

The locals, still a little shocked, began to work on repairing the minimal damage.

Hanako doffed her armor, took a quick shower, and returned to the bridge in her uniform.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Misaki returned with her hair up in a large claw, still a little damp from getting a shower. It had felt good to be out in a MINDY again, and better to get comfortable with Hanako's flight patterns at least a little bit. Taking a detour to the medical center, Misaki had Blueberry's help getting a ST backup, something she had neglected to do before.

"Reporting." She chimed as she set down on the bridge, wearing a type-30 stretch uniform. Exhaling loudly after sitting at her station, the XO read the after action reports as they came in.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"I missed you," Hanako smiled. "I have set course for Nataria. From there we will head far South through my old sector and then to the new Ketsurui Military Sector. It will be a while. We should find something to keep us busy. It will take a day and a half or so, even at top speed."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Really?" Misaki asked, turning to look over her shoulder. "Well..you did move very fast." Turning around a moment she grimaced at another report. Why hadn't more of them surrendered?

"Well, I could do everyone's hair but it would only take so long..oh!" Misaki turned again, smiling. "We should have some of the Kohanian things for dinner. I'm pretty sure he said there were at least a few meals in there out of everything." Finally just swiveling the chair around, the XO set her purple eyes on Hanako, "That's not even close to enough, do you have any ideas?" After everything that had happened on the Ishikawa, Kurusu Shosa could already feel how much more comfortable she was on the ship...was it because she was a Ketsurui?

Misaki hoped it wasn't something so simple.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"I am hoping we can get some work done on upgrading the sensor arrays," Hanako responded. "There is a new quantum mirror technology available that should help save space. With more room for sensors, she should be able to integrate more ways to discover stealth ships. Being able to find other stealth ships faster than they can find us is a top priority; our survival will likely depend on it at some point. Blueberry is an expert on sensors and should be able to assist us. I will handle the computer end of the new systems."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Any scientific data that could be captured more easily would be welcome too." Misaki noted, an even tone to her voice. "We can get started on that now, it's better to get work done first so you have nothing lingering. That's what I always thought."

"Blueberry? I just saw her in the med. center. She and I can do the preliminaries at the fabrication center."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Very well," Hanako nodded. "Later on, would you like to dine together? Lime, the ship's cook, is making Chicken Parmesan tonight."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Misaki's boots hit the deck a bit hard, she had been about to hop into the zero-g passage. "Really? Yes, I'd love to. I got a few bottles of wine from the Kohanians, if she wants to use those. That reminds me, I'll try to remember to bring your present." Misaki hummed lightly and jumped into the passage, contacting Blueberry.

They met at the fabrication bay, and started to input parameters based on the Eucharis and the data upgrade they'd received while at Pisces. "I like how you did your hair today, by the way." She remarked smiling, wondering how everyone on the Ishikawa was doing without her. As the bay started its check procedures she thought about her old CO. Hanako wasn't anything like her, warming without noticing she continued to chat quietly with the sprite while trying to pay attention to anything new she could learn from the sensor specialized sprite.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Thank you," Blueberry grinned, extremely please to get a compliment.

As the fabrication area came to life, Blueberry gingerly put her helmet on, trying her best not to perturb her hair. It sealed to her environmental suit with a soft hiss. "Watch out. You don't want your lungs full of nano-constructor dust."

Down below, robotic arms began assembling a small assembly line where the quantum mirrors would be made, complete with a storage area for the materials.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

Misaki fussed with her hair a little longer, before putting another helmet on, smiling. "That wasn't as hard as I thought it would be."

Monitoring the station next to Blueberry for a moment, she stepped back to watch it work. "How long will it take us to install them?" The XO asked. She watched carefully, holding her elbows as they oversaw the process.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"Probably an hour or two to fabricate and install," Blueberry responded. "I have been thinking about where to put them. I figure we will put them around the edge of inside the forward sensor dome, on the dark area around Deck 1, and around the edge of the cargo bay wedge. We'll probably have to go outside. I don't want to put any holes in the armor, so we're looking at mostly application to the exterior."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"As long as it doesn't sacrifice efficiency in atmosphere." She marked the points on the schematics of the Eucharis, resting her finger on the last. "Here...here, and here?" To double check where they would be installing everything. Blueberry was the sensors expert, and she recognized when it was best to learn.

"I'm not a fan of marring her beauty any more than we need to, either."

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

"The mirror system isn't very large and we're putting it on the top and bottom edges like trim; it shouldn't really change the ship's appearance or aerodynamics. We're putting a high-quality transparent Durandium cover over them, too, so it won't be affected by air or water when we visit planets."

Down below, the ship finished the assembly line and began building the first sections of the sensor strip.

Re: [Mission 2] Conquest of Halna

The display changed as Misaki gave a rough idea of what Blueberry was describing. "Like this, then?" Each way she had calculated would reduce the probability of problems in atmospheric flight to almost zero. Even if they ripped off they would still be able to fly, she just didn't want surprises like that.

Leaning a little forward, she watched the construction begin with a slight smile. They were making the ship a little better already. "I'll be interested to see how far we can gather deep space data from with new sensors."
