RP: NSS Alliance Mission 2: Part 2 [On NSS Alliance]: Unexpected Surprise

After most of the injured marines and engineering personnel had been transported to the medbay, Fay sighed in relief. To his knowledge, the danger was over, but he still had an uneasy feeling for some reason... He decided to try to ignore it and try to get back to his bunk to get some rest. He looked about for Adrian or somebody else that could dismiss him. A tired mist fogged Fay's emerald eyes as he searched the area.

(Woot, finally back. I'll try to make this appropriate.)

"What the fuck?!" Ran side-stepped a couple of orderlies carrying one of the wounded to the med bay, while simultaneously trying to avoid crashing into another Marine belonging to the squad which he was transfered to just after his supposed departure. "Form up, Delta!", Ran Screamed, elliciting a mixture of responses varying from the different levels of experience each Soldier Class held.

"Scott, I'll take the Soldier 2nd Classes and head down to provide security for the Elysian visitors. Lets hope one of those winged panty-asses is responsible for this so I wont be charged for friendly fire on here." Ran half-growled to Sergeant Scott, whom he was sharing command of Squad Delta with. Loading a fresh magazine into his .45, gesturing for the rest of his fire team to do so, he let his finger float above the trigger, leading his fire team down the winding corridors to where the Elysians should be, keeping a look-out for anything or anyone suspicious.

"Fuck! I should be on leave!" He bitterly thought to himself, keeping his .45 half-raised.

(OOC: Scott's on-world. He was the one who saved the diplomatic party from Mike. And welcome back!)

Adrian flipped off his comm unit, swearing.
Kokuten, you tool! Man, Suku's gonna be pissed all day...
He walked down the hallway towards the medbay. The tall medic saw Fay and smiled. Walking briskly over, he clamped a hand on his shoulder.
"Oi! Fay! Let's get the fuck on down to tha medbay, ja?"
The man disengaged his hand from the platinum-haired marine and stomped off down the hall, whistling the chorus to an old ska tune.

((OOC: Welcome back, person I've never met before, lol.))

Fay sighed as he scratched the back of his head. Today had been a long day, and it wasn't even finished yet! He sprinted after Adrian to catch up with him. He listened to Adrian's whistle as he briskly walked with him down the hallway.

"Shit, looks like everything's under control." Sergeant Ran flipped the safety of his .45 on, holstering it at his right thigh. Okay, fire team, looks like another squad's got this diplomatic party under supervision." He gathered his fireteam up for a meeting outside the room where the diplomatic party was. "We're not done yet, though. Let's head down to the medbay. I'm sure the medics down there need people to hold down the wounded for them."

There was a moment of silence coming from the S3Cs, who apparently were not at all comfortable with the idea of holding down or carrying wounded people. "Well, what the fuck are you all waiting for, a goddamn boot up your ass?!" He screamed at the top of his lungs at the fireteam, threatening to rip their balls off and fist them right on the spot. "Move, damn it!! Double time!!" He ran alongside the fireteam all the way to the med bay, trying to not bump into others along the way.

"God damn, it feels good to be out of that damn engineering bay!" Ran exclaimed to himself, alluding as to where he has been for the past while. Although the heavy lifting required of him by the engineers kept himself in peak physical shape, that face of his had lost it's infantryman's appeal: the face of a man who had lost his smile over the course of several deployments, cancelled leaves and dead comrades. "Hurry the hell up, you softies!!"

"Public announcement system restored to operational status, Projection system restored to operational status,â€

Fay hardly noticed as the ship seemed to come back to life. He was still following Adrian and was just too tired to even care. He yawned slightly and scratched his platinum-blonde head.

Adrian stopped in the middle of the hall, his eyebrows furrowed. He looked at the dozens of files streaming down the display screens. Something didn't seem... right.
The medic turned on his comm.
"Oi... isn't some of this shit... you know... classified?"
Even as he said this, he entered the medbay.

What Adrian said seemed to wake Fay up. He joined him inside the medbay as he soon realized that what Adrian said was true. A lot of the information being displayed was highly classified.

The sobbing Istvan earned a quick reply from the captain.

"Soldier, what we need now is for you to calm down and manage the situation," he said. "We almost have Ally online again. She should be able to assist you shortly. Keep a strong chin, soldier. Are there any marines around you that can examine the device? If so, have him look at it and send the rest of the marines to search the rest of the ship for suspicious devices. We need more information on this thing."

Meanwhile, Cadet Lionheart found out that his recent attempts at fixing the computer resulted in a mixed success:
"Public announcement system restored to operational status, Projection system restored to operational status,â€

"One of -MY- Marines, forgetting to wear their goddamn books?!" Ran thought to himself, giving his fireteam a breather from running around the NSS Alliance so much. Unholstering his pistol and keeping a firm grip on it, he slowly pulled the slide back, chambering a .45 in the pistol.

Giving one of the higher ranking SCs a swift kick in the ribs, he motioned to his pistol, and made sure that the SC got the rest of the fireteam to do the same. He chose two SCs to hug the wall opposite to him and chose two others to cover his side of the wall. Sternly pointing to them, then to his ass, hopefully getting the message "Cover my ass!" across, he half-ran towards the noise, his fireteam in follow, stepping with the heels of their boots so as to not cause a lot of noise.

"Easily done sir," Matt replied and deactivated all projectors except for the ones on the bridge. Then, the young cadet began to focus on bringing the shields up. A few of the control circuits had been cut in certain sections, but nothing that would be too much of a problem.

The warrant officer merely rerouted control to other circuits and began to issue the Ally's computers commands to bring the shields up slowly, to test to see if anything had been damaged in the explosion

Istvan watched the bomb "Any of you marines know a lot about explosives?" He asks over the open channel. He sighed at the response "No, I don't mean grenades, I mean... demolitions. Those of you with demolitions experience get over here, and tell me what you can about this bomb, alright? The rest of you, form a grid and sweep the rest of the ship. If you miss one, and it doesn't kill us all, you will wish it had."

As the rest of the marines scoured the remainder of the ship, Istvan's question got a quick reply over the communications channel. "Yeah, be right there."

The marine took place at the side of the bomb and began inspecting it, inspecting it with the help of his armor's computer.

"Hm... this don't seem too complicated," he said. "I don't see a timer or anything. That means this thing's either remote-triggered or triggered by an impact. Safe bet is to not shake this thing up."

A minute of silence passed before the marine continued.

"As for what TYPE of bomb this thing is, what I can guess is that, after triggering, some kind of ultra-hot plasma comes out of these openings here and melts through the hull. That don't make sense though, cause it'd be useless if our shields were up."

On the bridge, Cadet Lionheart's check of the ship's power systems revealed that some of the shield's energy would be able to be restored, but not nearly as much as necessary to sustain the Alliance in a heated battle. The loss of the Quantum drive resulted in a serious loss of maximum power for the ship as a whole. As the shields reached 17% of maximum output, system warnings notified him that any further efforts would divert energy from the ship's other systems.

A small blip on Cadet Lionheart's screen indicated that Ally was booting up and on standby. Although she hadn't taken a physical form yet, a small bit of text scrolled across his view.

"Sorry, sir. I have malfunctioned. Please forgive me."

"That's a step in the right direction," Miller said, the same message having displayed across his own screen. "Keep doing what you're doing."

Man, what a mess. I just want this day to be over... Captain Miller was not pleased with the events that had taken place. It seemed that everyone and everything wanted to ruin this mission.

Sergeant Ran and his armed team were in hot pursuit of the mysterious sound. As the marine rounded another corner, he saw a robed figure step into one of the ship's elevators. It quickly turned and pounded on one of the buttons, presumably to close the door.

Jet groaned, this was taking for freaking ever. "What are those guys in the medlab going?" he sighed as he and his remaining marines held down Engineering in case something else happened while the techs that were showing up got to work to fix the damage to the systems.

Matt growled as the warning message appeared on his screen and stopped charging the shields at the 17% of maximum so he wouldn't strain the systems. "We have 17% on shields, going any higher would affect other systems," he reported as he moved back to helping Ally get back online, since he had yet to get a report from the Marines around the bomb.

No worries, he typed to the AI. I'll have you back up and running to full in no time. As he typed that, he began to check on the holographic projectors and the connecting circuitry, sending a slight charge through each circuit to test their connection. He also began to check on the data for Ally's physical form, running a fragmentation check to see if anything was fragged or missing.

Ally's program was fragmented but still operational. Oddly, it had been misplaced with in the internal system and renamed while the text database had been renamed as Ally's projected form.

Istvan "Right. Thank you. what's your name?" He says to the bright marine. A bit more confident he calls bridge "According to one of my experts P3C (name)" he says "There is no timer, so it's either remote, or impact triggered. Further it is set up to cut a hole in our hull with plasma." He nods, then switches to a private channel with the marine "Find ways to remove it with minimal jostling." Istvan says "If you can.... Let's not take any chances, there WERE power outages on ship, I don't know if the shields are up or down..."

Hearing the cry and wild convulsions of an engineer, Fay reacted immediately. He rushed over to injured man to try to give him some aid. He looked behind him to see what Adrian was doing during all of this.

Matthew couldn't help but snort at the sheer humor of the problem. "Wow...you'd think a quantum computer wouldn't have this problem," he muttered as he moved Ally's program to it's proper place and gave the text database the programs proper name.

"I've corrected what I believe to be the more major problem," Matt reported calmly. "But I'm going to wait until we have enough time to do a full defragmentation on her program." Since a defragmentation of that scale would take a while, he thought it was best to wait until they were out of the woods.

Pulling up a new window, he began to search the ship's database for any information on diffusing the type of bomb he had been reported.
