RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 4.0] - Breaking the Dam

-----------------------------------------------------

Another wave of fighters came into the bay, scored, charred and sporting numerous holes in their hulls. The hanger personnel repeated the process of assisting the injured pilots out of their fighters. Then the fighter would be moved along into one of the maintenance bay. Calls for medics were soon responded to by soldiers with med kits and grav gurneys.

Within thirty minutes the last of the surviving Heitan the bay was overflowing but anyone counting could easily tell that more than a third of the fighter compliment never returned.

The outer doors to the launch/recovery bay slowly closed, a loud boom reverberating through the ship as they were secured.

The Heitan and the surviving ships of its battle group made their way out of the debris field. Once they were clear they began the long journey to Chiharu Star Fortress in the Veronica system vanishing in a series of teal spheres.

Meanwhile the battle at the North Gate was drawing to a close. The NMX not able to withstand a battle of two fronts and out numbered by the combined forces of the Star Army chose to cut their losses. The ships that could leave did so with as much speed as possible. Those that were to damaged to go to FTL engaged the Yamataian ships, and in some cases taking to ramming them to buy time for their ships to leave.

When the last of the NMX forces stationed at the North Gate had left the 2XF and 6SF began the task of Search and Recovery. The Star Army of Yamatai had a victory, one paid dearly in ships and bodies. But the passage to the KMS was open. It would remain the responsibility of the 6SF to hold the gate. The 2XF forces meanwhile returned to their headquarters at Daichi.

Yaeko just smiled and shook her head a little bit at Anne's comments. "There's nothing to apologize for. You did what you thought was best and what you thought would save lives, and that's what counts. I probably would have been making the same comments if I were you. Don't beat yourself up about it. As for the briefing, it doesn't seem like there will be one. Enjoy your liberty Anne!" With that Yaeko head back to her quarters to change out of her uniform and into something a little more comfortable.

"Thank you ma'am, I will go to infirmary now." Anne said and bowed. She then hurried off ot med-bay. Her help might be needed. Even if she should do minor tasks.
