Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate
@Amaya's Gate:
Lacking the concentration to maintain her skin-stealth, Kotori appeared into view between the paralyzed Black Knights and the Mishhumachina.
Pants of hoarse breathing whistled out from her grit teeth. Her soiled yukata's sleeves were rolled up, and bruises could be seen purpling her pale skin - the small capillaries in her eyes had burst, turning the whites of her eyes light red instead. Her posture was hunched, her effort great enough to make it seem like her limbs were leaden.
"The Signaler!" Amaya realized. "But you told me you killed her!"
"I did! I ran her through myself!" Meni shot back.
"Maybe they respawned her?" Mani suggested.
"That's impossible!" Amaya barked at the two others. "Damn! Kill her quickly, before she manages to reverse-ungh!"
"Our PSC just got overwhelmed!"
"Can't move!"
Kotori gave out a moan, part-strain and part-desperation, as she glared down at the three of them. The Akuma and the Black Mindy armors hunched forward, seemingly prey to the same paralysis that plagued the Black Knights.
The Mishhumachina was another matter. It whirred, clicked as it changed its posture, moving its free tentacle pincer weapons toward her and bending down so to target her with its eyebeams and dorsal-mounted chainguns.
The Taisa gave a pained grunt as she turned to face the mishhumachina and the artificial mishhuvurthyar spontaneously expanded. All of its pieces mechanically disjoined from each other as it grew to become a study of its inner-workings - the process went at a much faster pace than what the Black Knights were suffering from (which was probably what the kuroneko twins had expected in the first place to happen to them). Tom and Ichigo dropped down limply from the tentacles as the mechanical coils latter 'unmade' themselves.
Kotori cried out raggedly in one last spurt of effort to harness that last of the psionic potential she had on hand as Amaya was dropping her hold on her crew and the pieces of the mishhumachina - large and small - were turned into a hail of projectile which she sent over to the Akuma. The Akuma's barrier flickered from the initial small impacts, holding, but some of the mishhumachina's bigger pieces - parts of its large and resilient metal carapace - crashed into it and not even the Akuma's barrier could handily withstand that. The gargoyle-like machine flopped over to crash on its back, freeing Asher.
Asher was hardly the only one freed. The rest of the Black Knights also recovered from their paralysis, with their power armor stopping to come come apart. The AIES had no way of refastening the parts loosened and they intentionally discarded the loose plating, each shedding something like one-fourth to one-third of their total armored plating... but all were still capable of fighting.
"Please capture the Akuma," Kotori told the Black Knights as she half-fainted and collapsed to her knees, dry heaving. "It's susceptible to overheating. Take down its barrier and pour as much plasma fire over it as you can - it should shutdown. If Amaya ditches it, I need you to let her escape."
Meanwhile, a pop-sound signaled the recovery of the Akuma's barrier; it and the two Black Mindy were struggling back to their feet as well, with Amaya giving the telepathic order: "Kill the piss-eyed bitch!"
