Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Sir," Tom said, raising his hand. "...it's..." a pause. "I can delegate this job to you three because I know it's not a hard job to do. Officers delegate all the time, sir. But... the ship may explode if that coolant leak isn't taken care of, and there are countless other problems that could happen suddenly with the ship in this damaged of a state. These repairs need supervision... Junko cannot tend to them alone. I know my technicians better than you think, sir. Yuzuki-Heisho needs Ichigo and me there. Almost everyone down there is green, even Yuzuki. They need leadership."

He continued. "I'm NOT running away from my responsibilities, and I take exception at you implying that. But I'm an engineer, not a scientist, and if I don't get down to the subdeck right now, we might not have a ship by the time the enemy gets here."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nimura simply stepped between Nyton and Tom to break the debate, and said: "We can manage without the both of them just fine, Taii. I am, after all, the technician whom oversaw the installation of our last captured double-teleporter on Hagesawa-Juni's Mindy."

Nimura's way of arguing was simply to make the debating irrelevant. After all, neither Tom nor Ichigo were as well versed with power armor technology as Nimura was.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Oooo! You juss' got burned, Free-boss!" Asher chuckled in delight, listening to the back and forth between Nyton and Tom. His fingers were gripped tightly around the teleporter pack, seemingly out of anticipation. In whichever way anyone could see, he was anxious to get to work, but the little spat was some nice entertainment at any rate. Then Nimura stepped in, and settled the debate, and thus bringing forth a new point.

"Wait, so's that mean I gotta' work wit you?" asked the Hei, tilting his head at the sprite.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nimura hooked her helmet to one of her shoulder racks and turned to make her way to the bay's armory so she could fetch the needed modular capacitor add-ons.

Asher's question went unanswered. Nimura apparently did not feel the need to state the obvious.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Damn it. growled Asher mentally, hopping after the sprite. If he was refitting the armors, he'd likely be following Nimura's direction. Usually, he didn't mind 'ship crew' work, he much preferred combat and fieldwork. Though, to him, it was all much more fun if he was working with someone who actually had a sense of humor or at the very least, a soul.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton had wondered just how this would be resolved. Would he really shoot Tom? It was something he would have to ponder later. Nimura's familiarity with the system simply made the matter no longer worthwhile in pursuing. Time was of the essence which was fine with the man. Lowering his LASR Nyton turned away from Tom.

"Get out of my sight." he said without a hint of emotion. Moving with urgency Nyton quickly slung his LASR again and hurried to take over fitting the Armors. "Westwood, Gunshin, stop wasting time gawking and hurry up! We're falling behind the power curve here. Gunshin get those power cables ready to connect the saber rifles to the Armor! Westwood get these suits ready for the capacitors and teleporters! Move it!"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Ichigo didn't have to be told twice. "We thank you for your indulgence." She bent down in a brief bow and then flew out, choosing to get to the problem area by leaving the armor bay and flying around the ship to enter the problem area through the hull breach itself.

Nimura collected the capacitors off the wall sockets where the motorized arms would usually collect them for speedy installation. Bundling four of them, she turned and hurried out of the Hoshi's bay, crossing over to the larger bay inside the ship where the M10 suits rested, all lined up in their holder frames.

She pointed out to Asher. "This one has a Dragoon core, ideal for male operators. It's yours." The sprite bent down to start manually fastening a pair of capacitor modules to the lower leg hardpoints in the stead of the counter-measure missiles pods.

Mara opened the door to the bridge and darted in before coming to an abrupt stop as she almost tripped over a mound of cooling flesh and metal that looked more like a depleted wax candle than a power armor. She sidestepped only to flinch away from a dangling wire that emitted angry sparks.

"Eek. That wasn't there before," she negociated around the obstacle to then hop down next to the operation station and then vaulted over the armrest to settle down in it. "Ready!"

Hinoto only flicked the briefest look to Mara before she returned her attention to her displays. "Takumi is five light-seconds away and closing. Coolant supply down to 70%"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Dragoon, eh?" Asher said, looking at the bulkier M10 armor. It was actually rather appealing to the eyes to see a sort of NAMesque armor amongst all the smaller variants. At that point he decided to remove his helmet, the panties still secured on it, and place it on the hanger that his old Plasma Rifle once hung on. He moved around to the back of the armor and began to fit the teleporter unit on. As he worked, he took notice of the plasma torch that seemed to come with the core itself.

"That'a torch?" asked the Malifarian, noting it's existence, he looked at Nimura as he secured the unit, "That's built-in, right? We can't replace that wit' notin', yeah? 'Cause I've already thought'a seven different ways t'use that thing."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"You are an armorer," she reminded him of his boasted qualifications, in something of a silent statement that the matter was his to decide.

She stood and then told the inactive armor. "Unit 34, display OS."

A few volumetric windows came to life in front of the power armor's torso. Nimura examined the peripheral list and told Asher: "These armors are powered with battery packs much like the A-variant Daisy. Therefore, you and Gunshin-Hei will have no way of recharging your teleportation devices, therefore the added capacitor packs on the shoulder and lower leg hardpoints will provide you with a total of four teleports."

She tapped over a few of the volumetric screens 'virtual buttons' to proceed with the compatibility check of the AIES with the Black Spiral equipment, continuing with: "Once both Miharu and Takumi's shields will be down, and that you will have the proper telemetry, you will be able to teleport into the other ship to effect sabotage."

"Once inside, you should have no trouble teleporting to other areas of the Takumi even if her shields are up." The compatibility check turned out green, and Nimura then proceeded to make a diagnosis of the teleport module's settings and modifications so the software could properly adapt to it. "Your fourth and last teleport charge will have to be to leave Takumi, when both her shields and Miharu's are lowered so you can return here."

"Your arsenal will be limited to that torch, the forearm weapons and the battery-powered aether saber-rifle you obtained. A power cord can feed the aether weapon with your M10's power supply, but as it is limited I suggest you rely on the saber-rifle running on its own battery power. You can also store extra batteries in your thigh compartments - each is worth 60 second of running time."

Nimura tapped instructions to have the power outlet in the holding rack to start charging the double-charge teleporter and the four capacitors... and then left to fetch four more capacitors to outfit Kyou's power armor.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari spared the same greeting Hinoto did for Mara. She telepathically relayed the plan to the Miharu avatar. "Hinoto-san, we will attempt your plan once its shields are damaged enough."

"All personnel, Miharu is engaging Takumi."

The Shosa's eyes stung as her fingers tripped and sliced over the control panel in front of her. She did not try to wipe at them, and instead sent the ship hurtling forward, though her cheeks were stained with tears.

She jumped Miharu to the exact range she'd planned, in just the right position.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Well, ain't that just fancy..." said Asher, looking the M10 up a down, before stepping down and taking a short look at the fully assembled armor from the front. As Nimura walked off, he considered her words, thinking on what sort of tactics that he and Kyou would need to assault a ship of such kind. Though, it was likely that they'd just be given four point to teleport at, some objectives, and a certain amount of time to do it, so thinking about it wasn't all that useful.

"All personnel, Miharu is engaging Takumi."

"Ah well." the Malifarian hustled off to grab the second teleport pack and returned quickly to begin fixing it on Kyou's armor.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Damn. Nyton thought. "Alright keep moving keep moving! Once Westwood and Gunshin are in their suits they will stand by for the signal to strike. The rest of us will finish rearming." he said.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Indulgence my ass.

Tom turned and bolted to the subdeck, quickly discarding his hurt pride in the face of the degenerating condition of the Miharu.

He finally reached it, not far behind Ichigo, having to take a little bit of a longer route to make it while staying inside his Daisy.

"Status report on the coolant leak!" he barked out, extending his arm and stepping into the subdeck in a manner which would have been dramatic had they been in a movie.

"Everybody report! I need casualties and placement locations of all remaining technicians! Yuzuki! Work on rerouting the electrical grid! We need to compensate for the damage!"

"All personnel, Miharu is engaging Takumi."

He went over to Junko to see what she needed help with.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Miharu seemed to blink into existence four-thousand meters under Takumi, belly to belly with it as both ships passed each other by.

The three turrets on Miharu's ventral side, already poised to shoot at a pronounced angle, lashed out with man-made lightning. The Takumi's psionic fins were deployed, and Eve should have been able to psionically deflect the attack but all three struck true: the three discharges crackled against the command cruiser's ventral-port nacelle, popping armor plates and warping the lateral shield-shaped CFS field grids.

"Moderate damage to Takumi's ventral-port nacelle!" Mara reported. Takumi proceeded into a roll that would bring her raker beams to bear upon Miharu.

The power armor assigned to Kyou, Unit 22 as Nimura named it, was one whom had more feminine proportions to Asher's #34 and sported an hemosynthetic insert.

Once Asher fastened the double teleporter module, Ichigo triggered the calibration and software/hardware synchronization procedures before telling both Kyou and Asher: "Time is short. You should both board the M10s."

* * *

Tom left main engineering to travel across the port capacitor bank maintenance corridor. In the door beyond, he knew that if he'd open it, he would arrive in a section of the ship which was entirely open to space.

The prospect was a little daunting.

Luckily, he wasn't called on to do that just then. The reinforced door swung open, with Ichigo and Junko stepping through an atmospheric retention field. As Junko closed the door behind them, Ichigo pointed to a cluster of valves mid-way through the corridors. "These!"

"Hai!" Junko hurried to the junction point where the inner wall of the corridor showed much of its plumbing and hydraulics, with several ring-shaped valves that Junko started turning counter-clockwise with alacrity while paying a close look at the pressure gauges attached to each.

Ichigo for her part came to Tom and telepathically reported: "The valves in the wingpod are slagged so we have to shut it down from here. Eventually, that means the still-active port ventral turreted particle cannon will overheat and endanger its anti-matter reserves. We'll have to purge them before those cook off."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher sighed, patting the chest of his armor.

"Well baby, iss' time f'you n'me t'part ways." the Malifarian's Daisy opened, and with a little help from his own gravity manipulation, he pulled himself out of his armor. As he strained, the wound on his left, which stood out well-enough against his tanned skin, began to bleed a little. He landed straight on his feet, stark naked, and stretched his limbs for a moment. "Man o'man! Iss' good t'get a nice pull." he mentioned despite the pain. Though, sparing no time, he readied Unit #34, and hopped into the armor.

As it closed in over him, the durandium skeleton locking in, he felt significantly weightier than he was when he was in the Daisy. It was nice, and even better when he secured the comfortable Daisy helmet over his head. The Dragoon Core itself was roomy and new to him, with the familiar Daisy AIES very welcoming to his eyes. He liked this armor, and especially liked the way his fists sounded when he slammed the together after his armor was fully-functional and ready for action.

"Eh heh heh heh! I like this'n!" spoke Asher gleefully, through his external speakers. He took note of the armor's name, and changed his tone slightly, "Unit 34, eh? Thass' a pretty borin' name. Somethin' this badass deserves somthin' mo'meanin'ful!"

In the short moments he had, he decided to come up with a name for the armor that was called by something that Asher thought was so bland.

"I'm..." the Malifarian thought, his weapon readings cycling through his view and system checks passing along as he did so, "I'mma' call this'n, Shikaku."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari narrowed her eyes. She did not start moving Miharu, even as the Takumi started in on its roll.

You underestimate us to the point of insult. Why? She kept her fingers on the controls, ignoring a look from Mara that suggested Yukari was crazy. You know the capacity of this vessel. You know I am at its helm. We all know we have yet to do more damage. So you begin a sublight roll, one you cannot easily correct without engaging in FTL movements. Why?

She needed another move. She needed more evidence. Where was Eve going? Was she taking her licks and buying time?

"Mara-san, monitor the Taisa's armor. I want to know her physical status at all times. If possible, determine if the armor has a stimulant injection system built into it. If it does, obtain remote control of it. Hinoto-san, continue to engage the target, even as I jump."

Yukari waited until Miharu was nearly in range of the rakers before jumping again. She was using the wait time to calculate how to put Miharu in exactly the same position it had been before Takumi began rolling.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou, having just finished getting the Saber-Rifles ready for use, followed suit, slowly making her way out of her own daisy, what with her still sore shoulder slowing her down a bit. As she climbed into her armor, she snorted. "Shouldn't you wait until you've actually used the armor before you name it? That way you actually know what you're talking about."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Eh, I don' see a use for tha' name past this battle. We're gettin' back at tha' Black Spiral at it's heart wit' it. N'Shikaku here's gunna be tha' weapon a vengeance." responded Asher, looking in Kyou's direction, slamming his fist against his chest as sign of strength in such resolve. The statement was oddly poetic, but there was a sure meaning behind it.

He popped his neck again and heaved his shield, testing it's weight. His other hand carried his own Saber-Rifle. The kind of load-out they had made him feel more like a real Black Knight, a sword(gun) and shield, with full-armor to boot.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou nodded, picking up and attaching her own saber rifle. "Fair enough. 'Specially since we don't know who's going to win yet." She paused for a moment, thinking. "Taii, Would you mind if I took a secondary weapon along with? The Type 29 Armor Pistol maybe? Just something to supplement the overkill of the saber, so I don't waste battery power."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Miharu streaked toward its new position, only to come to an abrupt, lurching stop that suddenly forced Yukari to control the craft's inertia.

At the flashpoint activation of the FTL jump, Takumi had fired her ventral striker arrays. While individually each of the positron pellet wouldn't have cause Miharu's shielding substantial damage, it was a wholly different matter when one vessel's shield made contact with the pellets at above the speed of light.

"Shields holding, reinforcing ventral side!" Mara reported, as the redundant shield generators cycled repeatedly to prevent the pellets from penetrating. Hinoto's shots however went wide, two missing and one connecting on the the underside armor of the starboard pylon.

However, Takumi's objective had merely been to rattle Miharu and her pilot - just long enough to have an opening. Projected energy beams lashed out to score over Miharu's ventral shields before Mara could reinforce them, scoring black scorchmarks on the prototype vessel's smooth underbelly, as Takumi blurred, making an FTL maneuver to shift herself around to aim her nose-mounted cannons at its smaller opponent.

The three smaller cannons opened up, hammering hard against Miharu's ventral shields but not breaching through. The heavier cannon through scored a powerful enough hit through the boosted shield facing to strike at the hull under the starboard capacitors. The damage far fortunately greatly mitigated, only wilting the outer armor, draining 50% of Miharu's total capacitor-stored power and disrupting the function of the regenerative shielding's redundant generators there.
