Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"I don't see why not. I'd save it for a secondary weapon and use it on heavy mode though since you already have forearm guns. Nimura, double check the mass levels. If anything my only concern is whether it goes over the limit or not." Nyton replied as he double checked Asher's suit AIES link.

Azuki finished going over the regenerative chambers as they processed the new bodies for Kai Nakamura and Masako Kurohoshi. As the bodies began to fully realize the automated process inserted the Soul Transfer backups into them. Soon the two bodies would begin to realize full consciousness as though waking up from a moment's sleep.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nao was still standing when someone outside demanded to come into the infirmary. The sprite's hand instinctively reached for her holster, but found it empty. She gazed down and saw the slightly melted and sliced up remains of her AMES suit. Everything seemed to be a bit off to Nao, and she couldn't shake that annoying tired feeling. They finally let the people in; even in her state, Nao could see that they were worse off than she was. Ayumu ordered Nao to lie back down and she did. Though, as she felt the bed against her skin, the sprite just couldn't figure out why she didn't put up any argument. She just did as she was told. She closed her eyes.

And then opened them. Nao felt like she had departed to some other place, only to return and find everything askew. Strange. Different. Changed. How long was she asleep? For how short? Did the ship just shake? Or maybe it was just her. Maybe she should be a good girl and go back to...NO.

Nao bolted upright and was met with a sudden lance of pain from her back, forcing her back down to bed. She stifled a cry and did her best to remain silent; Nao tried to see just what was happening, but couldn't make anything through the tears.

'I'm useless.'

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari cursed at herself for being arrogant enough to not seeing the pellet trick coming, and for the damage sustained. They could only soak so much, especially with dwindling capacitor power.

She warned the two avatars she was jumping again, then did so, putting them in the same place regarding Takumi's position, giving Hinoto another shot at the nacelles. The plan will work, I must only adhere to it.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"I should be okay, since it's limit is probably over 200kg like the other teleport units. Which, what chance is there of reinforcements coming over after us, using the spare packs? If there needed for something else, I understand, but having more people available would be huge." Kyou started everything up, calibrating all the systems to her preferences, before glancing at Asher. "You wouldn't mind if we brought some friends with, would you Asher?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Unless the Taisa plans to risk sacrificing crewmembers, I doubt you can bring tagalongs, or that other teleporters will follow after you. Your chances of survival are greatest with only the two of you," Nimura flatly answered.

* * *

Miharu again flashed under Takumi's belly, weathering the positron striker fire with its reinforced ventral shielding while Hinoto promptly lashed out at the command cruiser's ventral starboard CFS nacelle, the three hits scoring substancial damage on it. Takumi in turn slammed a projected beam at Miharu's belly, depleting the protection and caressing the armor just under main engineering.

"I just lost the port ventral turret to overheating," Hinoto reported. "Coolant lines to it were cut."

"Shields have failed! Someone down the subdeck needs to depolarize the starboard generators before I can raise them again. I'm extending Hoshi's CFS shielding over Miharu to compensate but they won't last long," Mara followed up. "I have communication with the Taisa's mecha, but no control over its OS, or insight on its operator monitoring sensors,"

"Halfway there, Yukari!" Kotori sent.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"As much as I hate it when Nimura actually talks, she's gotta' point." said Asher, gesturing to the ice-cold sprite. "Iss' why we didn' juss' teleport in tha' control rooms n'shit of Amaya's Gate n'kill everyone important in one blow, y'know? Besides, tha' two a'us are more n'enough t'do this job right."

He slapped the Neko on the back with his gauntlet, "So no worryin' 'bout stuff thass' already been thought about, eh?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari stuck to the plan, since Takumi was not jumping away. She jumped again, but only within the 5,000-meter-wide "shape" that defined when the enemy could hit them with more powerful weapons. She provided an angle on the dorsal nacelles, but tried to keep the ship as close as possible to Takumi's hull, behind the bridge superstructure, without putting them in danger of being blasted by the ship's gravimetric engines. Hinoto knew to keep shooting.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"I just figured we weren't teleporting because we didn't have enough packs. I mean, we only had four to begin with. Oh well. Just means we actually have to try, I guess." Kyou slapped Asher on the shoulder. "Now that I'm ready though, I'm going to go grab the pistol. Be right back."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

As soon as Miharu reappeared, the ship briefly lurched as PSC readings went off-the-scale, indicating the psionic protection had been compromised. It felt to Yukari - connected through SPINE to the ship's navigation - as if a giant invisible hand had tried to seize and immobilize them.

Takumi flickered, Hinoto's attacks passing into empty space as Eve's flagship made a stutter strafe maneuver that ended up having it positioned to Miharu's port side while bringing its fore weapons to bear on them.

Fortunately, Miharu wasn't paralyzed as Eve had intended they would be, and Yukari was mobile enough to dart away from the positron cannons' line-of-fire. Hinoto did try to fire the three starboard-side turrets in return, one entirely missing, one hitting the Takumi's dorsal port nacelle, and another crackling against the tougher armor plates of the command cruiser's main body.

"That hit wasn't enough, Hinoto!"

"Sorry!" Hinoto huffed. "I'll take it out on the next pass."

Raker beam domes tracked Miharu and fired, eight white lines following after the Himiko prototype until Yukari managed a narrow escape by dipping back under their possible firing arc, into the 'relative' safety of the Takumi's underside.

Relative being the keyword as Takumi slammed yet another projected energy beam into Miharu's shield bubble.

"Another hit like that and Hoshi's shields will give out!" Mara warned.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Be quick Gunshin. You two may be summoned to jump at any moment now that we are engaging the enemy. This is going to be a critical strike so put everything you have into it." Nyton said as he began to step over to the PHALANX pad.

"Nimura be sure you are armed as well. Once we're ready we can start working on building up more suits. We should be getting reinforcements eventually." he said while activating the repair functions. As light glowed on the pad a swirl of colors flowed out and began to sweep over the Armor. Nanomachines covered Nyton from head to toe and the suit began regenerating as it did so. During this time Nyton took the moment to call down to the medical center.

"Med center, this is Claymere. Are Kurohoshi and Nakamura revived yet?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is medical sir. We're just finishing up initializing their ST uplink. We'll have them up and running in another minute." Azuki replied as she checked over her volumetric screen data.

Meanwhile Ayumu finished taking the vitals on Shizuka and Chisako. The two Caretakers had suffered severe burns from the heat of the blast along with serious concussions from the kinetic impact. For now though they were breathing although very faintly.

"Alright you two, set up a hemosynthetic IV for them. They should recover over time but they're both going to be out of commission for a while. Please hurry though if we are to keep them from going into shock." she ordered before rushing over to Nao.

"I have eyes in the back of my head Nao-chan. Now please lay on your belly. We need to get that AMES suit off of you if you're to heal quickly." Ayumu said while assisting the young engineer. "Doctor, are you ready yet?"

Sanjuro could hear what had been going on. He was still frozen to the sink, refusing to move. Cold sweat and chills were running down his spine as he struggled to get a hold of himself. The signs of battle had died down though so he began to wonder if maybe they were safe.... safer than before? There really was no where safe right now. But at least there wasn't anymore Black Mindy Armors running around the ship, right?

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Rin was getting very nervous and rather infuriated that her home was falling apart around her due to this evil... Eve person. She was doing her best to keep the CFS running, but, with so many things failing and breaking and just all together not going well, it meant that there was little she could do. That is until the shields failed.

As Rin was in charge of the CFS units at her station, she was the one that had to 'depolarize' the shields. Those positron weapons were annoying in that way. The sprite messed with the controls, attempting to purge the shield systems of their positive charge in order to restore a normalized flow and to restore shields.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari could not see whether the shields were repaired, but she could feel it through Miharu. That would have to do.

Takumi was not jumping. Yukari flash jumped Miharu into place. Was the enemy drained of CFS power thanks to the repeated use of projected beams? Was it another trap?

Did it matter?

"Mara-san, angle shields ventral! Hinoto-san, fire again!"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

As promised on that pass Hinoto accurately tagged the third nacelle with more particle turret fire, riddling it with cracking discharges that ruptured its housing.

Takumi countered with another projected energy beam volley, though this one had much more energy devoted through it in an attempt to cause as much damage as possible through Miharu's shield in the addition of the persistent rattling the continuous striker array fire caused.

Keeping the ventral shields reinforced greatly diminished the harm that beam - specifically meant to get through Miharu's shields to strike at its increasingly vulnerable underside - had again proven to be a judicious move.

The powerful energy projection greatly compromised Takumi's shield strength. Perhaps the Takumi's commander thought it did not matter all that much considering how Miharu's particle beams went through them anyways, but the turreted particle cannons weren't the only weapon available to Hinoto.

"Take this on for size!" Hinoto said as she took advantage of the power concentrated bellow Miharu's shield bubble to project an energy beam of her own, one that plowed through the bigger cruiser's meager protection and sliced through the Takumi's remaining CFS nacelle.

"Takumi's Combined Field System is disabled - it's shields collapsed!" Mara quickly supplied, as she fed teleport coordinates to both teleporters: Asher to the port control room of the raker domes, and Kyou to the starboard one. "We need to lower our shields to allow our people to teleport there."

Hinoto's quick finish of Takumi's CFS nacelles carried a price. Miharu's shield strength was temporarily reduced to 20%, and the ship would be unable to generate a superluminal jump for roughly 10 seconds.

Miharu's three CFS units also had their heat monitoring indicators at 120% tolerance, well into the redzone. Yukari had one more jump, maybe two, before the overheated units destroyed themselves.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari shut off Miharu's CFS units and switched to the gravimetric propulsion. One jump would let them run, but they had to keep pressing. She thrust the ship awkwardly to "hide" in the shadow of the large psionic amplifier fins, putting Miharu on the outer ventral edge of Takumi's starboard wing. If Eve wanted to shoot at them, she could destroy her hopes of ever controlling the lost fleet along with them.

"Hinoto-san, loose the anti-matter and do what you will with it! Black Knights are clear for teleport!"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton was just finishing up his own repairs when the word was given.

"Westwood! Gunshin! Lock on to coordinates fed to your teleporters! Strike immediately! Good luck!" Nyton commanded.

Hopefully the enemy will enjoy a taste of their own medicine now. he thought before going to the Armory to replace his destroyed PSC device.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Woo! Iss' time t'break shit!" said Asher, his armor and teleporter executing the coordinates. When the moment came, it was like some had just surprised him with a gift. Now, it was time to enjoy that gift. "Teleportin' t'plotted coordinates," his teleporter started up, "Now!" and then he vanished to wherever they had plotted both Kyou and himself.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou, still on her way back from grabbing the pistol, jumped to the coordinates from where she was, rather then waiting until she got back to the bay. "Good luck, everyone. Stay alive until I can come back." Upon her arrival (wherever she was going), she would look for enemies, then to see where Asher was.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

AIES fed Asher and Kyou with location data for their teleport destinations while Nyton supplied them with target priorities.

Code:
Westwood:

Teleportation Destination: Port Raker Array Control Room
Priority: Fire Control

Gunshin:

Teleport Destination: Starboard Raker Array Control Room
Priority: Fire Control

Goal: Render enemy weapon systems inoperable, prepare for secondary target coordinates

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Tom nodded to Ichigo as he assisted in the process of sealing up the valves and reducing the leaking of the coolant.

"Ok, so the turret cannon on that side of the ship is in danger of exploding if pressed too hard," Tom said. "Forcibly shut down the turret before it reaches a critical point. Be prepared to manually eject the anti-matter reserves at any cost."

Tom checked the vast network of pipes that ran through the Miharu's subdeck. Was there any way to reroute the coolant or create a makeshift pipeline for it to reach where it needed to go?

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Hemosynthetic fluid began to drain out of the chambers occupied by Kai Nakamura and Masako Kurohoshi. The download had been completed and the new bodies were in full operational condition. At this point it was just a matter of time before they awoke. Azuki monitored their conditions to ensure their revival had not gone awry in any way.

Meanwhile Ayumu was struggling with the double duty of guiding Akiko and Miko's medical attentions while trying to surgically remove the melted pieces of the AMES suit from Nao's back.

"Akiko-chan, put more salve on those burns please. The fluid is doing it's job but we are expecting a high amount of casualties so I must try and limit it's use somewhat. The regular salve will have to be used instead." the nurse stated while Miko worked on Chisako.

While doing so she checked her time piece. "The pain killers should be kicking in Nao-chan so let me know if you feel discomfort while I am removing this." Ayumu then said to Nao while carefully cutting away pieces of AMES suit off of her. The melted pieces had fused to her back at certain points and were pulling away chunks of her flesh with it. Other pieces had lodged in deeply and required Ayumu to dig with forceps to remove them.

Sanjuro finally staggered out from the back and looked around with a bit of a daze. The overwhelming fear he had been suffering was receding but the emotional and physical toll it had taken on him had been draining. He could barely walk out and had only done so recently despite all the commotion going on.

"Ah doctor, please if you could attend to the two patients suffering concussions, I would like to send out these two to collect casualties and bring them here if possible. Have you recovered enough yet to do so?" Ayumu asked feeling her own emotions begin to strain. She had managed to maintain a mask of self-possession but in truth the whole event was terrifying. There had been too many similarities to the ordeal leading up to her traumatizing imprisonment on Bowhordia.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

With repairs completed on his PHALANX, Nyton ran through what ammunition remained. Since he wasn't depending on as many Daisy systems he simply resupplied his magazine stock to previous levels.

"Nimura, we need to get two more suits ready for Kurohoshi and Nakamura. What's left that we can salvage for them? I think Nakamura's suit is still usable except for the helmet but Kurohoshi's got slagged pretty hard from that aether array hit she took." Nyton asked while getting himself ready.
