[Multinational] Origin Industries Business directives

Kai

Retired Staff
Origin Industries! We make stuff!

Origin industries was initially made to be the company that makes all the generic things that one needs to get by in the world, but we somehow ended up being a third party military and paramilitary supplier. This direction, while fun and sometimes rewarding, is a lot of work and doesn't actually fulfill my original purpose for the company.

SO, I am officially announcing that Origin will be taking a more Civilian-minded direction from now on. This doesn't mean all military-like projects will be dropped, or that we won't have any more in the future, but I'd like myself and my designers to make more civilian-type items. Household things like appliances, furniture, electronics, entertainment devices, basic transportation, and other similar things.

Also, I and my colleagues will soon be working on expanding the Wiki articles that describe the somewhat famous Ori-Mart, which is to be the venue to sell all the things that Origin makes, and heck, even some of our competitor's items, because Origin isn't jerks.

I would also like to have Origin start producing some more basic things, like our start years ago with Softer Brand toiletries, I would like to make hygiene products, as well as linenwares and clothing. On top of this, I would like to have Origin produce food items- not necessarily to farm them, but to manufacture processed goods, as well as to manufacture the means with which food may be produced.

As always, Origin is looking for designer who can help come up with technology- those who have ideas but don't have a company to produce them, rather than try and make your own startup, please contact either myself or CadetNewb, and we can help you bring your product to market- we have years of experience on the site and know what kinds of ideas can work and which cannot, and can help increase the chances of your submission being approved swiftly.

Thanks!
-Kai

Wes, You aren't helping my quest to make sure people know Origin is a multinational corporation by editing my posts and labeling it as Yamataian.

Please stop doing things like this. Just because Origin does a lot of business and close work with Yamatai, does not make it an inherently Yamataian corporation. We also work with Nepleslia and the Abwehran Star Empire, and there are plans for Origin to work with other nations as well.

I want to make it completely clear from now on that Origin is Multinational, but is still respectful of the nations in which it operates, following their laws as best they can and keeping sensitive information secret because that's just good business practice.

Thank you.

On to business.

In the coming days or weeks We will be doing the following:
- Giving each of Origin's subsidiaries their own page- including OMC, OAW, ODM, and OSHI
- Creating a new subsidiary focused on creating consumer products, called Origin Appliance and Manufacturing, or OAM
- Making new designs for OAM ( Currently working on the Mimicom Personal computer/assistant )
- Finishing up the last of the military and paramilitary products for the time being (Cadet will post links to those for us)
- Starting work on such products as space suits, basic appliances, and other more mundane generic equipment.
- a Pizza Maker! (for fun)

We're still building military tech though, and for Yamatai, we do have these designs coming along. They're focused on more drawn out and protracted surface engagements rather than the traditional smash and run, and have been a long time coming. It's only now I've had the time to get on these - they're all still works in progress, so there's still some grammatical errors here and there;

-Type 34 Main Battle Tank
-Type 34 Armored General Purpose Carrier
-Type 34 Infantry Combat Vehicle
-Type 34 Mobile Anti-Armor Cannon
-Type 34 Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun

Aside from that, the M3 Gekido/Fury is awaiting the finishing touches - I'm hoping to later on bring that to Nepleslia for 'tech demonstrations' via my plot in the future for some fun times as well.

What use would wheeled vehicles be to Yamatai? We asked for hovering ones.

I've asked for these vehicles for the Fifth fleet's use- The vehicles we currently have are insufficient for what I intend to do with vehicles. As well, wheeled vehicles do have certain advantages over hovering vehicles, namely in maneuverability, traction, redundancy, and lower energy requirements.

For the upcoming 5th Fleet plot, another vehicle is finished and almost ready for submission, the Type 34 Self Propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun.

Of note, it's best used with the flechette ammunition for it's job, allowing it to more consistently hit not only fast flying craft, but also their missiles. After doing a wee bit of math, I've found that one of these with it's quad guns can pump out 416 armor-piercing incendiary-tracer flechettes in a single second, so it should be quite a sight at night.

This has been edited into my previous post, and to note, there's something else I can address too.

If the vehicles are deemed suitable for use and receive favorable feedback in the 5th Fleet by the playerbase, I can attempt to make hover converted versions of these vehicles if desired. These will most likely be a "Mod 1" of each.

The reason why I personally wish for these to all start out very 'traditional' with wheels and tracks is to give a sense of evolution over time as our plots go along - in a way, these are pseud-prototypes. Or perhaps the first production run so to say. This way, when hover versions are acquired later on, players and staff can look back and 'see how far' things have come.

It adds more flavor to the roleplay, I like to think.

Should I notify the appropriate movers and shakers in Nepland that foreign armors coming to make a 'demonstration' soon?

Also, Kai, Origin (like Emrys) is viewed by most players in the Nep plots as a Yamatai company. You may cater to various nations, you may employ a multinational staff but your headquarters are in Yamatai. OI's contracts with the Yamataian military-industrial complex are much deeper than with any other country. Origin is only outdone by KZ/KFY and the Tamahagane holdings in terms of the products made for the SAOY.

This is exactly what I'd like to remedy. Being seen as 'Yamataian' seems to prevent Nepleslian players from even looking at Origin gear, and you and other Nepleslian GM's seem to be rather hesitant to work with origin to make Nepleslian things, because of that.

I want to make sure it is very clear that Origin is just as Nepleslian as it is Yamataian, and that we're always available to work with Nepleslian players and GM's, and that Origin stuff is available in Nepleslian space for Nepleslian use.

Not so soon sadly.

The current plot arc for Atuan needs to be closed up before we can move on to the 'second season' so to say. We're well aware of the things you mention, and it's an important factor that will play into the plot. The crew of the Atuan is a motly bunch, a mix of those from Yamatai, some Nepleslians, as well as an Abwehran woman too.

May need to update the Fatboy. Not sure if it's just me or if it's the page itself but the images aren't showing.

I'm sot sure what the problem is. it seems to be something to do with Photobucket's update, as those are externally linked images. clicking on them and then hitting the back button seems to fix the issue, though.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Images, Kokuten does. I'll have to ask him to upload those to the Wiki proper.

Images for the wiki articles should always be on the actual wiki so this needed to be fixed even before Photobucket broke things.

Though if do you need to use an imagehost, I suggest imgur. It's very simple to use and logging in isn't required.

I concur - Photobucket has become buggier and user-unfriendly as frog poo. Apparently in the past users were having problems with advertisements that ended up negatively affecting their computers with viruses and the like, and Photobucket staff kept the ads after being told about this!

Imgur just works better and loads quicker!
