Nairan

I'm Only Dancing

Inactive Member
This thread will be devoted to housing all information on Nairan that I deem necessary to character creation and involvement in the plotline. I will post as I write it.
__________
Vital Information
Leaders - Ryoshi Mikawa, Tanaka Chan (both currently MIA on Nepleslia)

Aethelings (Commanding Officers) - Takihe Suwahara (current Acting Leader), Veniz Dahl (MIA on Nepleslia), Kouji Aiba (MIA on Nepleslia), Lili Khorkina (current acting Second In Command), Vail Mylan (Aetheling), Suiko Heike (Aetheling)

Effective Fieldable Numbers - 950-1200 (Many more actually support the group, but these represent people who either chose not to or could not pass the rather stringent mental demands posed by Ryoshi and Tanaka.)

Spacecraft - Unlike most factions, Nairan has no production capacity, and as such does not have descriptions of broad categories of starships - but rather a number of illegitemately obtained starships from various fleetyards. These are detailed below.

Freya (Commander - Ryoshi Mikawa) - The Nairan flagship, one of the seven Yushi class starships sold for civilian purposes. Freya was lost and destroyed in the accident which left the Nairan leadership stranded on Nepleslia.

Helgaiden (Commander - Takihe Suwahara) - A Vampire class starship, one of two such vessels under Nairan command. The Helgaiden poses as a legitimate mercenary vessel, quite successfully, and has drawn in a fair amount of money for Nairan by marketing the services of Takihe and his crew to smallscale conflicts. Currently, the Helgaiden's crew is involved in search and rescue operations seeking the survivors of the catastrophe with the flagship Freya.

Loki (Commander - Suiko Heike) - The second Vampire starship in Nairan's ragged fleet, Loki is captained by Suiko Heike, who many consider to be Nairan's single most competent leader. Her ship has seen more battle than the rest of the Nairan vessels combined, as she is the only one who will willfully engage another vessel or another force in combat (even Helgaiden, when playing Mercenary, avoids actual fighting - marketing himself instead as a support vessel - which the Vampire, ultimately, is), and she has usually come out on top of such engagements due to an intimate understanding of standard military procedure.

Sif (Commander - Lili Khorkina) - The Sif is a Mersina class vessel, posessing none of PNUgen's modifications, as it was acquired via scam and outright theft. The newest of Nairan's four vessels that are actually in use, Sif is also the least used, being both the new flagship, and a vessel that must avoid intention until it is no longer a likely target for the attentions of the law.

Notes - Nairan also possesses thirty-six military grade Jilanth shuttles, also acquired through theft. These are used at the discretion of the Aethelings, and sometimes granted to Watchers as a command point for planetside operations.
__________
Nairan Character Creation
Occupations and Required Skills Thereof -
Aetheling - Aetheling is the title Ryoshi grants to those he trusts exceptionally, and who's abilities in command and planning he has no doubt in. Aethelings are in command of at least 100 operatives, and usually are assigned with their charge to a single planet, where the Aetheling determines the course of action most beenficial to the goals of Nairan. Note that I probably will not accept more than one or two Aetheling characters beyond the basic NPCs, though characters may work there way to such positon.
Required Skills -
- Communications. Your character is proficient with the use of starship communication systems, radios, and with multiple forms of Nairan communication code.
- Leadership. Your character understands geurilla warfare tactics, can effectively command a unit in such maneuvers, and can speak effectively in a diplomatic situation.
- Starship Operations. Your character must be proficient in the command and operation of Mersina and Vampire class starships.

Watcher - Watchers are the basic officer ranks of Nairan. A Watcher typically commands a squad of five to twelve operatives, and reports directly to an Aetheling regarding all points of action if possible. Watchers do, however, have the authority to act on their own initiative, and are rarely reprimanded for doing so, unless their action resulted in the death of other operatives. Watchers are expected to be capable leaders and efficient fighters.
Required Skills
- Communications. Your character is proficient with the use of starship communication systems, radios, and with multiple forms of Nairan communication code.
- Leadership. Your character understands geurilla warfare tactics, can effectively command a unit in such maneuvers, and can speak effectively in a diplomatic situation.
- Fighting and Physical. All Watchers must be capable combatants, though the random nature of the technology available to Nairan prevents any standardized training requirements. Most Watchers are proficient with several types of firearms, and with basic unarmed combat techniques.

Military Operative - Military Operatives are Nairan Operatives who side with the more militant face of the faction, and have chosen to join with the Watchers under Suiko Heike's wing. They are generally trained in combat, and usually better equipped for it than others, thanks to Heike's rigorous collection of higher end weaponry. They are also most always able in the arts of demolition, and could easily be labeled as "terrorist".
Required Skills
- Communications. Your character is proficient with the use of starship communication systems, radios, and with multiple forms of Nairan communication code.
- Fighting and Physical. You character is proficient with most types of firearms, including projectile and energy weapons of all manner. Your character is also trained to some degree in unarmed combat.

Diplomatic Operative - Making up some 65% of Nairan's members, Diplomatic Operatives are the coercive and peaceful wing of Nairan. They pose as normal members of society - local politicians, writers, et cetera, always assuming a role that will grant them a voice. If cover is blown, they either surrender themselves (usually followed with suicide), or flee if they can manage, assuming a new identity, generally on another planet.
Required Skills
- Communications. Your character is proficient with the use of starship communication systems, radios, and with multiple forms of Nairan communication code.
- Humanities. Diplomacy and false identity are absolutely essential to your character, and he/she must be more than proficient with both. Your character has an understanding of psychological patterns for multiple species, learning how best to inspire anger and rebellion. Your character is capable of slipping from one persona to another, and of speaking in a convincing and effective manner, to the purpose of claiming the upper hand in negotiations.

Special Requirement for Nairan Characters
Nairan was never a fierce recruiter, and for the longest time, their recruits came in painfully slowly due to idealistic but impractical recruiting practices.

Characters who have been with Nairan for more than six years must be personally inducted by Ryoshi Mikawa.

Characters who have been with Nairan for more than 4 years must be personally inducted by both Ryoshi and Tanaka Chan.

Characters who have been with Nairan for more than 18 months must be personally inducted by either Ryoshi or Tanaka Chan.

Characters who joined Nairan within the year YE 28 or later must be personally inducted by any one of the Aethelings or by Ryoshi or Tanaka Chan.

Nairan - Species
Geshrin -
The majority of Nairan operatives are Geshrin, and there are thus no problems with Geshrin Nairan operatives.

Nepleslian -
Nepleslians number second only to Geshrin in numbers in Nairan. Again, no problems with Nepleslian Nairan operatives, other than Mikawa's mild distaste for most Nepleslians.

Elysian -
Elysian operatives within Nairan are rare but not unheard of. An Elysian Diplomatic Operative would with no question be assigned to Elysia Novus, though an Elysian Military Operative could be assigned anywhere. Elysian characters within Nairan are by no means the norm, but can be made without special permission.

Neolibre -
No Nairan operatives are Neolibre. None. Period.

Phod -
While I suppose it's technically possible, it is unlikely in the extreme. If you desperately want to play a Phod operative for some reason, ask Wes, then ask me.

Seelie -
Again, technically possible, but unlikely in the extreme. As Seelie are mostly undiscovered, it would again take special permission. Ask Wes, then ask me.

Yamataian -
Yamataians, most being former Geshrin or Nekovalkyrja, are possible - however, intense amounts of screening on their past would be implemented, as well as numerous tests to satisfy Nairan that said individual was not a spy. Those found to be spying, by their own will or not, would be immediately killed.

Nekovalkyrja -
Highly unlikely. Possible, but highly unlikely. Nekovalkyrja, if they chose to join Nairan, would be set through even more indignifying testing than Yamataians, as the risk they pose is very real. Though it may seem as a paranoia, it is an entirely necessary security measure - those found to be spying would be immediately killed, preferrably in such a way as to do away with the irksome possibility of regeneration. My explicit permission is required to make a Nekovalkyrja operative, and it would involve much prior discussion.

ID-SOL
It is possible for an ID-SOL to join Nairan, though it is not a common occurrence, and their conspicuous nature would make them entirely unwanted in diplomatic areas, where 'normal' people who can fill most social roles are wanted. No special permission would be required, however.

Thaxarian
There are no Thaxarian Nairan operatives.

A note for everybody: Nairan RP is currently in the Dirty Dealings forum.

Also a note on the above post: For playing a Phod, first see Yangfan instead of me if possible.
