Need some tips to get started

I just found this place a couple days ago and I have to say this looks like a great place to RP. I used to RP a ton a few years back but had to stop do too school and work. Now that I have some free time I am looking to start again. My question is I used to be in a Sci-fi Rp some time back and have a character and a couple different ships I made for them. I was wondering if I should try and convert one of my ships over for here or just start from scratch and make a new one or none at all. Also is there a guideline for building ships like there is for a character, if the is can someone give me a link to it? Thanks for your help.

You're better off starting out from scratch again, mostly for copyright issues. What you make essentially belongs to the site (and its users) after you make it so bringing in something from elsewhere is usually a no-no.

Oh sorry I should have mentioned that the ships I made are from a yahoo group that isn't active anymore. As for my character I planned on starting over....he is old a would need some overhauling to update.

If you stat something in the accepted starship format for the SARP and have artwork/visual representation that is your intellectual property, you may use them.

Then it won't fly. The submission rules require art, especially for starships.

That's the biggest issue — anything you give to us we have to find a way to fit in our canon, and if it's not an easy fit, you could be waiting for months to see it approved. Easier to start with just a character and decide for yourself whether we're worth the time you'd spend converting your work to this site.

OBJECTION!!!

Ha just kiddin'

When I started I went with a greeny guy, if you had time you can join a JP and that really gets you up to speed.

Or use the IRC thing, I guess.

I myself have guys/things to carry over here someday.
