Neko + Catnip = ?

Nekos would almost certainly be unaffected by actual catnip, but that doesn't mean that 'recreational substances' created specifically for their artificial metabloisms don't exist; heck, someone might have even gotten it into their head to tailor plants to manufacture them... though, all things considered, 'Neko Catnip' would probably have to be at least partially nanotech, and perhaps even have a software component, to get around Nekos' hemosynthetic blood and digital brains.
Post-singularity settings are sometimes a bit disappointing in this respect; technology is so advanced that a lot of interesting game-atmosphere stuff (such as drug dependency, computer hacking and permanent death) ends up becoming largely irrelevant ^_^;...

I recall being informed some time ago that unless a drug is specifically designed to affect a neko against her will, they can simply shut down any effects they don't want. Recreational use, therefore, is fairly common - addictions and unpleasant side effects are of no consequence, and you can snap right out of the high should you need to.
