I personally adore the idea of a weapons factory / research department. However, it has infrastructure enhancing effects only during very tough war times.
I suppose you will employ characters to do research and testing? Not that I want you to go too much into detail already, but what sort of RP were you specifically thinking about? Like, um... field testing new items and searching for new ideas, etc.? How about salary?
Approved, but expect to have their facilities occassionally nuked by mercenaries hired by competiting companies that actually have to make a profit (Zen, Geshrinari, Yamataian corporations). Remember, KFY primarily sells only to the Star Army of Yamatai, and its products are fairly expensive. If the NAMS starts flooding the public market with cheap weapons, weapons makers everywhere are going to be pissed.

Seeing how none of the other companies are "interested" in Nepleslia anymore, since they all jumped ship to the empire. Why would they conduct corporate sabotage on a seperate company that's not in their economic scope anymore. That would fire up a spotlight on them, moreso if evidence is discovered if and when they ever cause such incident.s
Yup, quote is a modified version of a Japanese proverb. I believe the exact quote is:
"Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare."

Both characters and NPCs will be employed in the company. You're right on the head with your last sentence. Right now NAMs is a bit of a skeleton. We're going to beef up the detail with some good RPing.

Interesting. Since NAMs is a government-owned corporation, wouldn't a corporation attacking it be a declaration of war on Nepleslia? That'd be a huge political mess.
Besides, since this corporation is being made for the exclusive use on Nepleslia. Why would Yamatai based corporations, which pitch all their crap into the Yamataian market, care about a seperate sub-empire run company in their own semi-closed market?
Over-production is a problem with planned economies. (So is under-production, but I digress.) An unscrupulous superviser might be tempted to unload some over-produced goods on the black market, at drastically reduced prices. "Hey, no one's gonna miss them. Might as well sell them. The gangs get their ammo. I get some extra cash. Everyone's happy."
Plausible, yes?
That's all it takes, really.
Companies who operate heavily in the black market (like Zen, Geshrinari) will get majorly pissed off. They will retaliate with violence. Why?
1. They won't care about "declaring war" on Nepleslia. If Nepleslia accuse them of the attacks, they'll have plausible deniability. If Nepleslia attacks their assets, it will result in a huge political mess for Nepleslia, since those assets are in Yamataian territory.
2. They already lost a huge market in Nepleslia, and they will perceive that NAMS is moving in on them on the black market too. Corporations are run by human beings. They'll seek revenge and emotional release, just like everyone else.
