Neshaten Information Network [NIN] Terrorist Attack or Accident?

Location: Levia, Vectes Naval Base

Images flashed across the screen, depicting a rained out military base with flashes of light in the air. The screen shifted between this image, and another of emergency vehicles flying down the bases main streets, before finally switching to a few of a female Daur who was standing in the street. The Daur looked to be in her early adult years; she had yellow fur and wore a brown vest with a long brown skirt. She held a mic in one hand and had a headset on. The background showed a rush of emergency personnel running around, city guard were keeping citizens from entering what looked like a hanger, while medical shuttles were arriving one after another.

This Daurs hair fluttered harshly in the wind, causing it to get into her face, using a free hand she held the hand up against her face to shield her eyes before looking into the camera. "Good day Citizens of the Kingdom, my name is Zeu'trena of the Neshaten Information Network. I am here at Vectes Naval Base, located on the planet Levia on the systems edge." A small inset screen appeared to the reporters lower left, showing the planet.

"A few minutes ago, the NSV - Ishukara, a She'tan'ora class vessel that was commissioned only hours ago, declared an emergency and was forced to land here at the naval base, we don't have too much information right now, as the military is currently investigating, but what we can tell you is what our correspondent on board the ship has told us."

The screen with the reporter suddenly shifted, showing footage of a burning and descending Ishukara. The inset of the planet was replaced by the reporter, the reporter looking away from the camera for a moment before saying. "The Ishukara was assigned to V'kaste's Legion as a training ship for current and future cadets, to help educate them on how a ship operates and what they might be doing after they graduate from primary school but to also train new cadets on current technology. The ship had a crew of sixteen, and had twenty one passengers on board, all Kits. The ship was supposed to head to a proving ground forty one kilometers north of the base, located just over the ocean. However, it only got eight kilometers out before it sent out a distress call warning of problems."

Again the screen changed, this time showing a top view of the ship. There was a crater that extended from the rear section of the ship where a turret had once been and toward the center forward section, fire bellowed from the hole. Other damage that viewers would notice was a crack that went from the forward left side of the ship toward the rearward section, the crack was fairly large with black smoke pouring out along with some flames.

"Our correspondent told us that she and a few others onboard heard explosions, though she told us that she couldn't be certain whether they were from mechanical failure or possibly from a terrorist bomb. What we do know, based on what we are seeing at base," the reporter looked back off the screen and to the right, as if she could see the main outset changing to now show the Ishukara in a hanger bay, burning and with EMS all over it. Another inset image showed medics carrying out people on stretchers; some had their bodies covered with a tarp while others were open. "Is that there have been casualties, but we don't have an estimate."

"Right now, this is a developing story. We'll have more as the military investigates. We are aware of another commissioning ceremony that'll be taking place soon, and the military is on high-alert in case it was a terrorist bombing that took out the Ishukara. We'll report more later."

The reporter lowered the mic and looked off screen, toward the stricken ship.
