Nepleslian News Network [NNN] Nepleslian Warships Seize Illegal Arms Shipment

It was announced today that vessels of Nepleslia's 4th AASP Fleet's 3rd Cruiser Squadron caught two Yamataian-flagged vessels attempting to smuggle arms into Nepleslia. While most of the cargo is assorted machinery and luxury goods, two cargo containers on both ships were found to be carrying an array of personal weapons into the Imperium. Captains of both vessels assert that they were unaware of the contents and cannot be held responsible for being misled.

4th Fleet spokesman, Captain Darryl Murdoch, announced that both ships, their cargo, and their crew were being held pending further investigation by 4th Fleet and the IPG. Such searches, he said, were a random and routine part of the Nepleslia Star Navy's duty to protecting the Imperium. "In the past week, 3rd Cruiser Squadron alone has searched thirty vessels from every nation that has entered the Nepleslia Prime system. For those who would say that we are targeting Yamatai, I must squash those dreams of conspiracy by saying that we have the documentation from other vessels that have cooperated with our searches. Nepleslian, Yamataian, Gartagen, Freespacer, it does not matter to us."

Incidents of arms smuggling up
Samantha Wheelwright reporting

Many questions echo throughout Nepleslian space about both the recent increase in arms transport restrictions, and the recent upswing in smuggling of restricted weapons. According to Robert Blakewell, an employee in the Nepleslian Tradelines Police, the incidents of arms smuggling had increased by 120%.

The most notable incident in the last Standard week was the capture of the "Helios Convoy" by 4th Fleet's 1st Scout Squadron. According to Commander James Blasthound, they had rescued the Helios Convoy, a convoy whose manifesto stated it was carrying high capacity energy sources, farming equipment and other humanitarian aid to the Gartagen Homeworld, that had been attacked by the Metal Hand Pirates in outdated fighters. The cargo ships had been unable to defend against the fighters, and only rapid intervention of Commander Blasthound's group saved them. They had then asked to investigate the ships, only to be stonewalled by Earl 'Motherfarking' Jones, captain of the vessel, ISC Stranglove.

After a boarding of the ship, Earl 'Motherfarking' Jones received a single shot to the knee while allegedly resisting arrest by Commander Blasthound and his naval inspection teams. They discovered, more than 20 sets of former Paragon Docile armors and more then 50 crates of heavy weaponry behind a false wall in a fake engine. They also found data and receipts indicating that the intended buyer was the Pan-Union Trading Company.

Representatives of the Pan-Union Trading company are without comment.

Other finds inboard the convoy were a home distillery capable of producing rocket fuel quality alcohol by Ensign Johannesburg Shostakovitch. According to the 4th fleet's 1st Scout Squadron the importance of this find might even be greater than that of the weapons. However, this statement may not be held by the entire 4th fleet.

According to an anonymous source from within the 4th fleet the presence of ex-Paragon weaponry may indicate that former Paragon armories are being looted and sold on the black market; especially since the SMDIoN has no accurate information as to what happened to the Docile units sold to Paragon following the company's break-up. What second-hands reports they've received are woefully incomplete, and may even contain falsified entries.

Samantha Wheelwright, out.
